I moved to atlanta, ga bout 3 years ago so no longer in portland. Karl, the umk3 guy I mentioned, lives in the vancouver area but I know he's pretty far out there and without a car for the moment. Think he said it takes him an hour to get to downtown vancouver via bus but you might try hooking up with him. Don't think he's playing much these days though.

Those aren't opinions however nothing in that post was. Scrub is defined and the definition I gave is what it means in the fighting game community. It's also not opinion that the top players play less than casual players.

So in the end it's just your ignorance. I am/was a former top level player so have seen several top level players that gives me a base to speak about the habits of top level players. I also was around when scrub was first gaining definition in the fighting game community. The only ignorance here is from you.

Nobrainer, I'm in total agreement with you. No one should be allowed to say "MK: D is a good game". What they are certainly welcome to say is "MK: D is a good game because of xxx", and when sane third parties read "xxx", they'll know to leave the scrubs to their own world. (Note that the converse of this applies very well. When people say "MK: D is the most ridiculous turd ever to not vanish on the first flush because of xxx", sane third parties will read "xxx" and see Truth+Wisdom)

For everyone else, I am of course using Sirlin's (definitive) definition of scrub, from "Playing to Win". I'm sure everyone is able to see for themselves whether or not it applies to them.

After reviewing the content of this thread, I think it best that it be closed. It's sad that such threads lead to hostility amongst users rather than good, intelligent discussion.
