I don't really know why people hate this game so much. To me, MK needed something this crazy in order to get itself out of the pit that it fell into after MKD.
This idea is so fucking crazy that it's actually the most interesting thing to come from the MK universe in years.
And if you read about what they're going to do with this game (the new fighting system and all) it actually sounds pretty damn good.
Maybe it's that I'm a massive fan of both MK and DC but I'm really looking forward to this crazy, crazy game. Trust me when I say this but this game may actually save the MK series.
But what ever the case, I think people should hold off the hate untill some actual in game footage comes along.

The reason, or at least one of them, that people are so pissed is that MKD (storywise and in other ways) wasn't finished and niether was MKA. Now instead focusing on MK and completing the promise that was promised years ago, they give us this.
I to agree that there is massive potential for this crossover but I highly doubt they'll jump on it and give it its props.

Probably because the MK fanbase has always valued MK's attention to storytelling and cultural asthetics. In deviating for crossover game, potential resolution to events from Armageddon get interrupted, pushed aside, and even undermined by the distraction of a game that probably, due to the finances of licensing, won't be referenced in the future.
People shouldn't be afraid to make early judgments on concepts. The strength of the materials make it very easy to judge and be critical of the concept. MK fans have every right to be disappointed, but hey! The best thing about an opinion is that it can always be changed, chief.

I'm neutral as I've always been. See, this is why I always distance myself from getting too hyped for any game especially MK because I may not like what I'll eventually see. Either way people just need to calm the fuck down.
Observe the game with caution, once you have all the facts then make your decision.

Bingo. I'm liking the idea of MK vs. DC more and more, but people have the right to be apprehensive.
Personally, I feel that this game will at least be a financial success, and will do well critically, if nothing else. MK could really use a tick in both of those columns, before returning to a more integral creativity.
If this game is successful, I would not mind seeing MK dip into other crossover ideas. MK vs. Killer Instinct and MK vs. Marvel (this would be very unlikely after DC Comics has worked with MK) for examples. Can you imagine how much money a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game would make? Hey, who would have thought Sonic would appear in a Super Smash Brothers game?
MK fans are no doubt going to feel like there are unwanted guests in their house, but I think this is going to be more of a party, and the video gaming world seems excited by this. When was the last time people other than MK fans were genuinely excited about a Mortal Kombat game?

I notice that some people are pissed off about MK vs. DC because the game won't really continue the story of MKA.
Well, the storyline of MKA was a thrown together mess. I personally couldn't care less for a continuation of that abysmal game.
MK vs. DC is something completely different. Something completely f'ing crazy. And I dig it.

I dunno what all the fuss is about... If people card so much about story why didn't they complain about MK:A.
MK:A was a complete back flip from MK:D, it was all of a sudden... to many people... big fight... whoo hoo.... lets do this... disregard all MK:D storyline (such as Shujinko killing Onaga) and have a massive all in brawl. So no one can really can complain about story.
And gore?
Who says there won't be gore? Take a look at the video on worldscollide, To me there looks to be plenty of gore, sub-zero kneed batman in the back for god-sakes.
Who knows what this game will be like... everyone should calm down and see whats its like when its released and quit the bitching.

Couldnt agree more!! this game is going to look AWESOME!! it will be the BEST MK has ever looked and im the most excited about this game than i have ever been about a previous MK game!!!

im not sure, about it yet,ill judge whn ive played it, or at least seen some more. I know the mk story is a bit of a mess, but it still is a mythology, and i cant see how dc is going to tie in with it.
Sure, this game will get most people excited, but im skeptical.
will this game be for kids too, i hope not, mortal kombat is about blood gore, fatalities.
when boon said it was going back to its dark roots, i thought they would re-invent it, but around the guidelines of the first 2.
this could be a mistake, this could kill MK completely, or it could be the begining of a great era for midway.
Either way Mk as we know will be gone, and this could open the door for movie epics, more games, and no blood.
I hope this is a one off
coz if its not...............the demise has begun...........

You people can't even be seriously about this matter...
I AM pissed off, like most of the true MK fans, because the franchise has created and evolved in its own beautifully deep story, background myths and legends that were born millenia ago, the entire dark and bleack aura mixed with traits of asian misticism and culture, are the true MK essence, that is only truely revealed in some games like MK Deception or MK II.
But the idea of a crossover...... NEVER COULD HAVE TOUCHED THE MK FRANCHISE, i mean, it is ridiculous to fuse MK with any other characters or company, it is just not right.
It will be a waste of money, and a total let down to the fans.
I was expecting MK8 to be like MK II or MKD, dark, with tons of charisma, simple but brutal and sadistic fatalities, NO FUCKING COMIC RELIEF, a serious game in its own right, wich would expand the MK myths and traditions, world and legends perhaps by focusing on a story of the past, or using some of its style.... but now we've got this shit, this MK vs. DC bullshit, wich MUST BE A FUCKING JOKE.
If this nonsense is true, i'll just never again support MK in my life, and i'm serious about it.
If any of you like this bullshit nonsence of MK vs. DC, it is because you know nothing about the MK essence, and you call yourselves hardcore fans, when you're just n00bs that find it cool to use a freezing move with sub zero, or to use Scorpion's spear.

As a fan of DC Comics and one who has been playing MK since its Arcade debut, I'm excited as hell about this game, but alas, what interested me about MK was never the blood or the gore, but my love of the lore and characters.
Yeah, I don't really understand a lot of the hate myself, but my problem is not with people with valid excuses as I've seen a good amount of well thought out reasons for disliking this idea, it's just that a lot of the negativity toward this game has IMO been absolutely childish and the threats towards Boon absolutely uncalled for. Alas, all I can say is that I'm psyched and thats whats important to me and while I feel for a certain portion of those with a negative view that can put it forth in a positive manner, there's really nothing I can do about that except hope that down the line they get the MK game they've all been dreaming of.
As for people like Nightcrow, grow up. I don't mind you hating the idea, but insulting people is going too far.

I really don't mind this game happening. After all the Capcom Vs. Titles, I can accept anything. This is just going to be a spin-off, nothing of it will affect the main MK canon.
This could also be a testing ground for the new engine before Midway decides to use it for the main series. And for once MK could finally have a decent fighting mechanic, because the Midway crew won't be spending their recources on coming up with countless new ways to mutilate the opponent.

If there ain't no styles to begin with. This fighting mechanic is useless. What are they gonna do? Get this one to work out, then add styles and have moves that lead to infinites? This isn't a game that should be a tested game for an engine IMO.

Heh, I love your sig Minion....
I'm gonna buy the game. I don't understand why some people are jumping to conclusions. Ha, ha, the rumor became true. And once I saw the trailier for this game I'm like... I'M GETTING THIS! Yes, I've changed my mind about this whole crossover thing.
CHEERS!

Thanks, and it don't look 100% bad, but i must say it's not what i expected. I Imagined MKArmageddon where instead of 60 people You had an alliance of MK People vs. an Alliance of DC People. The characters in the game look micro sized. And it seems to me like a MKSM, with added characters and a different engine. If this is MIDWAYS first fighting game using this Engine. I can only imagine it wont get any better from here, sadly.

I'm a DC comics fan myself, but i love MK so much more, and just the idea of a crossover makes me sick. MK is unique, it is a stand alone saga, and if they wanted to make a crossover, it should have been made years ago, in the 2D era, with Street Fighter.
Jesus fucking Christ, i'm so pissed off with Midway that i can't even type right. This idea is cheap as shit. We've been expecting a really dark, hardcore, mistycal and full of charisma MK, and now they give us this shit?
Oh my fucking God.... I still can't understand how there are people who find this idea acceptable, i mean.... WHY THE FUCK couldn't Midway do it the right way?
A crossover is just cheap, cheap cheap cheap. There are excellent ones, like Marvel vs. Capcom, yeah, but even if it has a great playability and so, the storyline is pure shit. And so, MK being the deep story based saga it is, Midway could have done nothing worst than just don't giving a fuck about storyline, throwing in some MK and DC characters, think of a cheap story basis (a strange event that fuses the two Universes??... WHAT THE FUCK?? CHEEAAAPPP) to serve as an excuse to have the characters in the same field, and there you go.
The world is falling....

What do you mean by useless? I always thought the multiple styles introduced with MK:DA were rather lame. I'd rather have a character with 1 solid fighting style, than multiple half assed ones.

Seriously, after MK:A no one has the right to complain about the story. That went down the drain a long time ago. But since Midway hired some talented comic writers from DC, the story has a good chance of being solid.
And as far as dark goes, this already looks a lot darker and serious than the last 3 games which had characters looking like action figures and cartoon blood spilling everywhere.

So lame, these styles in the game is what made ONLINE players accumulate unique juggles, the same styles that made juggling fun, the same styles that made mkd's replay value online exceed over a million games played. Yea that style from old gen will be missed. Not because of it's brokenness, but because of it's wide range of experimental usage in combo linking.
To judge something merly on the title of the game and a small tibit of game play(which probably isnt even current) does not make you look very smart. You can not like the IDEA of it being a cross over game, but untill you play the game or learn more about it, theres no way anyone can say that this game will "suck" or you will "hate" this game.

The story of MK got ruined when they did MK:A. As I said in my first post MK:A was just a complete mess of a game with a completely thrown together storyline. They didn't even bother with character bios and the endings for the characters sounded like they we're written by 6 year olds.
And really, so what if their is no blood in the game or fatalities. I love MK for the characters, the story and the fun of playing the games.
The MK universe is filled with great mythology and so is the DC universe. Them coming together could prove to be a really fun experience.
