Well, the storyline of MKA was a thrown together mess. I personally couldn't care less for a continuation of that abysmal game.
Nonetheless, MKA was canon and calls for resolution. The story may have culminated already, but as we've learned from past MK games, we can only observe that culmination via retrospect of sequels. The only reason we know how MK1 ended was because of intro/bios from MK2, and so on. Ignoring the incidents of MKA would just make a bad situation worse.

I dunno what all the fuss is about... If people card so much about story why didn't they complain about MK:A.
MK:A was a complete back flip from MK:D, it was all of a sudden... to many people... big fight... whoo hoo.... lets do this... disregard all MK:D storyline (such as Shujinko killing Onaga) and have a massive all in brawl. So no one can really can complain about story.

People complained their eyes out about MKA. Story, bios, gameplay, everything. One of the biggest failures of MKA was that it DIDN'T properly explain the events of MKD. It didn't even try. But I don't see how this fact should prevent us from complaining about story. If anything, it should exacerbate us.

The story of MK got ruined when they did MK:A. As I said in my first post MK:A was just a complete mess of a game with a completely thrown together storyline. They didn't even bother with character bios and the endings for the characters sounded like they we're written by 6 year olds.
And really, so what if their is no blood in the game or fatalities. I love MK for the characters, the story and the fun of playing the games.
The MK universe is filled with great mythology and so is the DC universe. Them coming together could prove to be a really fun experience.

I totally agree with you on the refreshment MK needed, in this case with DC but still feel that the MKA storyline was pretty good, given the few bios we DID get that so many fans bitched about on here and Boon even said they'll explain everything once the new game comes out I'm sure.
People honestly though at this point have to forget about trivial stuff like bios of past games or Khameleon or OMG "fatalities" already....
This game has yet to come out and already certain ungrateful fans are already hating on it, having it as "a shitty game" but people have to keep an openmind
It seems that with certain self-proclaimed MK fans on here, what they want Midway gives them and they're NEVER satisfied. I don't get it. Do they think they can do better?
Anyway, this game is something new, with gameplay, storyline, characters and the overall concept is very interesting. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm one of the supporters for this idea

What the real MK fans want is a great game that's not as broken online and has good fighting elements brought to live by Unreal Engine. What Midway has done is all a marketing stunt. I've never read an idea asking for Midway to start diluting MK.
This is not Mortal Kombat... It's Marketing Kombat!
Sorry folks, but that's all it is. Real fans of the whole MK franchise got sold out BIG TIME!

I hate the Idea, I don't care what others think about this.
Mortal kombat was a bloody gore fightning, it has nothing to do with some freaks super heroes in tighty outfits, its horrible... Oh yeah, we're all attached to the MK heroes and villains! Goro ! Khan! Motaro!
Yep, now we will be fightning some freaks in tigh outfits, nothing as crazy as mortal kombat, where will be gone to MK fantasy ? I don't trust the Idea
*points at deception*
I loved that game, cause it was cool, Of course I agreed with some that it could have obviously been better, I agree with that, but Seeing Sub-Zero with batman discusts me...
They will have to fight.....
DC... I'LL RIP YOU OFF!!!!

Come on. Most of the MK characters walk around in tight outfits as well. You need only look at the ninja characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero to work that one out.

So what ? Those BELONG to the MK universe! They are NINJAS! how obvious ? all ninjas are in tight outfits for speed, those are just some showoffs from cartoons who have nothing to do VS sub-Zero of scorpion, Ever seen a ninja without a tigh outfits ?

Hatting on this game is making Ed richer he should thak yall, time 4 somthing new.The last 3 mk's that came out were exactly the same game except, stages @ outfits.True fans don't turn there back on thier team just because they decide to go a different direction.Players get traded every year in sports,so u just going to run with another team, because of this.So when this game comes out,all the hatter's can pull thier foot out thier mouth and bow down to the great Ed boon.

What I don't understand are the so-called "Real Fans" of MK saying this sucks and Boon should be fired and all this crap.
REAL FANS...
I don't think there's such a thing as a "Real Fan" in the sense you're talking about. As opposed to what? Fake fans? People who PRETEND they like Mortal Kombat? That just doesn't make sense to me. You're either a fan, or you're not, and the people that are crapping all over this game are obviously NOT fans of MK vs. DC.
And that's fine. You don't have to like MK vs. DC. But I do think a lot of you are being completely irrational when you're talking about how "This is the worst thing they've ever done," and "Boon should be hanged!", and all of that stuff.
For those who say it's the worst thing they've ever done...
Special Forces.
As for my views, I'm cautiously optimistic. I think it could work if done properly, and I want to see how it is executed.

Like a lot of people, I'm neutral on this game. I just view it as a side project. "MK9" will be the real sequel to Armageddon. This will just be some fun side game to tide me over until then.
I'm genuinely interested in playing this game though. I'm excited to learn more.

I have to go on record to say that I was a bit iffy on the idea of an MK crossover due to the story. But after hearing ED's interview and watching the trailer, I have to say that I am very excited about this game now! I am and avid comic book fan and I have much love for the DC universe. I think DC is the perfect fit for MK, setting wise.
For any of you who think that DC comic characters are funny and/or comical in appearance, I would assume that:
A ) You have never read a recent DC comic book featuring Batman, Superman, Captain Marvel, Darkseid, Calabak, Lobo, General Zod, Bane, etc. and you only know DC characters from their early beginnings in the 1930's and 40's
B) You have no idea of what you are talking about.
Have any of you ever read the Infinite Crisis books or one of my all time favorites, Kingdom Come, painted by Alex Ross? Those stories are very dark, as dark as any MK storyline. Many Heroes died in Kindom Come, not to mention that the writing was so good it almost got a tear out of me, seriously. I have no fear about this game being some upbeat, goofy spinoff knowing that some of DC's best writers on on the job.
As far as the look of the game, the mood looks pretty grim to me, more so than any MK before it, Just look at the level of detail in the characters as they are now. Just imagine what you will see in a couple of months when they reveal the game to the public for enjoyment at E3. The game play looks fresh and clean with new over the top fighting modes. Also, I'm glad that they are finding a way to incorporate finishing moves into the actual fighting as opposed to just beating the opponent and then killing them afterwards.
Honestly, who cares if they die or not from a finishing move, most of us don't initiate fatalities anyway, well the online players don't. I want the team to concentrate on balanced gameplay and bug fixing rather than satiating fans with creating the hundred millionth way to kill some one after the match. This game will be the testing ground for the next MK in the connonical sense. They will use this game to test how well the engine works.
It makes sense too. Why would they want to release a true MK on an untested engine after it has been doing well on the old one. Back when MKDA was released, they had nothing to lose. If MKDC fails, they can say it was just a side game. The next true MK should be awesome. If you don't buy MKDC, then kiss MK9 goodbye. I bet MKDC will blow us away when it's done. Use common sense guys.
Peace

i dont like the idea too much... and i really think this is the wrong move... i mean as a mk fanboy id rather have it just be all mk and be a new story with all new characters like they were saying before.... yet ive accepted this game will be what it is and i will buy it so i might as well make the best out of it.... as long as i can just put my fanboy feelings aside yeah i think this is pretty interesting and could be pretty fun. at this point im happy to know now that it wont be the great true mk game i was hoping for, so i wont be disappointed as much later on... but im gonna need a fighting system that works well with good online play if they dont want to see my hate threads after it comes out.....

Come on m2Dave, you know me better than that. In reality Dave, I'm not trying to save shit LOL! The only thing I'm trying to do is to let people know that the idea of this game is cool in my opinion, not to mention that their perceptions of DC comic characters has been way off.
I could care less if the game has the DC guys in it or not, but it does add a instant cool factor to something that in my opionion, seemed to be getting stale.
Lastly, you and I both know that if MIdway went bankrupt, no company worth it's weight in piss would pick it up. Do you honestly think that a worthy Japanese comapny like Namco or Sega would pick up the MK license? Japanese culture can't stand American products with the exception of Hip Hop. If Midway does go belly up, you better pray that Activision or some other lame studio doesen't buy the license, you will then see how bad this game could truely be lol!
If MK dies, it dies, that's the way I feel, I'll just move on like I always do when shit I use for entertainment fades out.
Trying to save MK you say? Hahahahahahahahahahhhaha! I thought that was a funny ass comment! It made my morning.
Take care m2Dave
Mike
I think there is a way to save MK, or at least make it somewhat decent. Let Midway Studios - Los Angeles have a go at a MK Fighter. They did some pretty good work on MK:SM IMO. Obviously the current team isn't capable of making a decent fighter even if their lives depended on it.

Thank you, someone with a logical post for once lol. Anyway, well said and I totally agree. Especially your A(which definitely applies to lots of people on here thinking DC is PG13, ha, ha) and B.straight out know nothing of DC period.
There's also countdown in which people are dying and died as well, but I think the main reason for this malone sadly is because this is site is filled with "DC haters" or "Pro marvel fanatics" in which DC on this site anyway has no chance either way lol but am glad my fellow DC fans here that are actually familiar with the DC universe are stepping up and chimming in here.
Totally man, I still don't get why people are juding this game 7 months before it's out...just stupid if you ask me personally and I'm sure you agree. Or because "not fatalities" so this alone will kill the game? Yeah, it's an MK game but let's face it "fatality hype" died years ago with MK, the fans that just worry about that honestly I don't think care about a good game overall...
Then there's just the ridiculous statements about "OMG Batman, Superman" MK is dead...blah, blah..lol
Because we all know that Snake in SSBB, and MVC didn't work out even though MVC is broken like MKA is right? right....
I also love the fact that DC is working with Midway on their characters, another thing people seem to be just forgetting or flat out ignoring...
Midway even admitted/Boon that they wanted to hire DC writers because they have a much better idea on their cast and how they'd react to the MK universe. Now, I don't care what anybody says that's a very good, smart move right there on behalf of Midway.
I also agree with you Malone on the concept of the E3 lol, you'll notice everyone already has this game judged "yet again" based merely on the first little teaser....*rolls eyes* lol
By the time this game comes out, it'll be vastly improved, very polished and a lot more done at E3 even compared to this first little teaser vid. It's like people want the unexpected, but when it's the "unexpected" they don't like or is equivalent to the picture they have in their heads...it's not good enough.
It's like loving baseball, going to a game and wanting to see at least one or two home runs but by the time the games over you hate it because instead of 10 HRs hit, there was only 3....aweee lol
Well said Malone, I totally agree and was wondering what you thought honestly. Was about to PM you given your past history with fighters and being that you've been at E3 before.
Later dude

Yeah at first, before Boon announced MK vs DC, when i read the forums about Mortal Kombat going against the DC characters and that blurry picture on boons picture before was batman's hand i was like NOO way that would be stupid...and when he finally announced that it was vs DC i was like...OH SHIT that's going to be a weird game.
But now I accepted it and think that even though it's a lil off it's still MK and it's going to be interesting to see how this game turns out...I'm actually pretty pumped for this game now...=P

I think most of the negativity from fans is coming from broken promises. Ed stated that we would be expecting a major change in the series as in, no more Bo Rai Cho farting / puking nonsense, no more cheesy characters like those jokes Darrius, Kira, and Kobra. MK was going for a darker grittier look, a more serious Mortal Kombat. MKDC does look darker and grittier. It's just the amount of shock right when the crossover rumors came true, a volcano had errupted. That being the angry fans such as myself.
I'm a straight up hardcore fan of MK, no other franchise is better IMO. I've also loved Batman as a kid growing up, but I'd never expect this to happen. Especially since this is their first game on the next gen. This really is all crazy, but I have to say that the trailer convinced me otherwise. Gameplay is without a doubt the most important element, and so far I love what I see. I am kinda neutral with this, but more on the positive side.
The fighting is fast paced, I don't know what some of you guys are calling it stiff or whatever just finding other excuses to bash this game. It looks brutal and fun, the action sequence reminds me directly to that of MK Shaolin Monk's intro fight scene with the MK1 kombatants. Loved it.
Graphics wise, I expected more. The background which looks like the wastelands is in excellent detail, plus the multi-tier graveyard looks sick. The character models look a lot smoother than they did in MKA, but it's definitely not on par with Gears. Still, it's too early and I'm sure this will be improved upon release. Subzero has a new design based on his old ninja design with a revamp, I love it. Batman looks pretty good too, though I prefer his movie black leather costumes than the gray comic one. Animation looks very good IMO. The style of action is just the way I like it.
The most important of all, regardless of wether it's going to be rated Teen, at least it will have blood (not by the gallons, thank God already I've been asking for this for a while), and THERE WILL BE FINISHERS! no dismemberments, but yes with bone snapping, flame breathing, freeze shattering, Superman eye laser thingy. You get the idea.
In conclusion, well what else can I say, as an MK fan and somewhat DC fan, I feel kinda heartbroken but I'll accept it because I'm an open minded fan. I take it that it's a side game, I think it will be a financial success and that MKvsDC will be a very good FIGHTING GAME. L8z.
