You are absolutely right! The only thing that will make Midway stop making crappy MK games is if we stop buying them.

Let me repeat that.

The ONLY THING that will make Midway stop making crappy MK games is if we stop buying them.

So, with that in mind, here is what my course of action is going to be: whenever the next MK games comes out I am NOT going to buy it. Instead, I will wait. I will read all the reviews from all the major gaming outlets such as GameSpot, IGN, 1UP, XBox magazine, PSM and so on.

Now, some of you will say, "Well, a reviewer can be biased". That's true, one reviewer can be biased, two reviewers can be biased, but all of them can't be. That's why you look at all the reviews a game got. How do you do that? You go here:

What they do on this site is they accumulate every single review a game got and they average all the scores and give you the average score for a game based on anywhere from 30 to over 100 reviews. So what I am saying is that 1-2 reviews could be off the mark but if the average score of tens, even hundreds of reviews, is low then that's as close to a 100% guarantee as you'll ever get that a game is crappy.

So to cut the long story short, whenever the new MK game comes out I'll wait a couple of weeks for everybody to review it and I'll look at the average score. If it's below 8, I am not buying the game, I may give it a rent but that's about it.

Another thing I'll do is I'll go to all the popular MK message boards and see what people say. If the majority says that the game is crap, again, I am not buying it.

So that's pretty much the best way to see if the game is any good, and if it's not and if we all don't buy it, that will teach Midway a lesson they'll never forget. So that's pretty much it, I love MK and always will but I am not putting up with any more crap from Midway, there are plenty of other pretty darn-good fighters to play out there. Hell, VF5 is online now. I am getting XBox 360 on Saturday and that might be the first game I get. I know it's going to be fun cause VF is an awesome fighting game.

Just saying..since some people continue to bitch about trivial nonsense that is easily avoidable.

I won't even get into the Midway makes horrible MK games argument because people on this site seem to be more 3D fans or on this forum anyway, despite what some people might think MK2, UMK3, MK:DA, MK:SM and MKMSZ were all great MK games from Midway despite who's disappointed with MKD/ MKA....those games will always be classics.

MKD and MKA are way broken when compared to those games, lots of fun? Yeah...but still way broken, I've been hooked on the older MK's lately since the newer ones are beyond dead.

Some things just get old and we want something new. The old MKs don't do it for me. For their time...GREAT...For now...GIVE A BETTER GAME.

Couple of years ago, I was simply looking for a competitive online fighting game....I stumbled across MKD and thought, "I remember that game MORTALLLL KOMMMMBATTT!".....I was going to go with MKD or "Capcom Street Fighter vs. Transformers" or something like that....I decided on MKD because....it had Mortal Kombat Style Chess!!!


Best of both worlds I thought because I really wanted an online chess game for XBox also!!!



Boy was I wrong.


Much like everything else these zanny (yes I called those stoopit ass fuckers ZANNY because its really gay and suits them perfectly) game deveolpers create, they had absolutely no idea how chess has been played since the last couple of Centuries..... Fucking idots. They should have called it "Advanced MK Checkers".

** Same thing with NBA2K7....those developers never played REAL Bball competitively EVER, not even in Gym....because they always had a doctors note.....and only had the VIDOE GAME "Lakers vs Celtics" ....better yet "Jordan vs. Bird" to base their basketball knowledge on...

FYI - If the player is not an ALL TIME ALL STAR LEGEND, they shouldnt be able to score 60 points on 80% shooting during 5 min quarters.....AND THE TEAM STILL FUCKING WINS BY 20!!!!!

Thread went up up less then a week ago and already has 23 players....ohh yeah and it's for the umm "shitty DS" Then there's the 360 version, MAME which also had lots of players...but yeah.

MKA and MKD can't even match that amount combined at this point if there was a tournament, but it's ok I know in your mind they're "the best MK's" ever...perhaps you like the broken ones because you actually have a chance at winning? yes?

Hell, I'd bet even MK2 for PS3 has more comp then MKD and MKA does at this point...

Atari, it's funny you mention Transformers because there was an actual fighting game(very rare though to find) for N64 Beast Wars fighting game where you could transform literally into beast mode or robot mode and fight just like the great TV series if you ever saw it.

@RaidenWins - Thats a good idea man. We cant be the only ones that dont buy the game though. If the 100 serious players (xbox and ps2 estimate) dont buy it, Midway wont even notice. As long as all the average gamers still buy MK then our plan is screwed! You work in the game programming industry if I remember correctly. What does MK need? More testing? More funding? Tell me what you think. It would be nice to hear it from someone with knowledge about games themselves.

Funny you say that because I feel the same way about you and your UMK3. The only reason you support it so much is because of your inability to compete in current model games. That's fine, I'm just saying don't act as if Midway "always" makes MK games with lots of glitches that are disappointing when you didn't really play ALL the MK games as much as you enjoy MKD and MKA.

@ Red, I was just addressing the Beast Wars fighting game and never said it "was great", btw just so you know the TV series was awesome, still one of the best among the classic series. Some fans enjoyed the oldschool G1 series more, others not so much. Still similar concepts though, G1 had Optimus Prime and the Autobots vs. Megatron and the Decepticons. Beast Wars has Optimus Primal and the Maximals vs. Megatron and his Predacons. War in both series.

I'm a huge Transformers fan and am well aware that when Beast Wars first started, the first episode. The fans hated it, until they watched a few more then they loved it. Of course you'll always find the fans that "aren't pleased" of any series, but there's a ton of Beast Wars fans out there including myself that loved that series just as much as the G1 series if not more.

Also, if you watched the Beast Wars series Red, you'd know that they even get involved with Autobot and Decepticon storyline since they're in the past on prehistoric earth(prior to the great war between the autobots and decepticons)

I also enjoyed Beast Machines which was hated by a lot of fans but did have a smaller fanbase, that was a more spiritual series as oppose to just blowing shit up, Megatron had taken over all of Cybertron after the Beast Wars series ended in BM.

MKF a couple of months ago you made a post on here claiming that you had access to a 360 and these were you're exact words: "if anyone is willing to get games in on UMK3 I would be happy to arrange a date and time" and chaostheory please back me up on this because I remember you made a comment in response to this being that he has MKA on x-box and isn't willing to schedule games and matches but he's able to schedule matches for games he doesn't even have on consoles he doesn't even own. That's why I said let's play UMK3 on the 360 because you so called claimed you had access to one and you were welcoming people to schedule matches with you. Yes, and you even stated so within your own post. That was a FEW MONTHS ago when I hung out like a lot with my friend rich at his place, now his work schedule changed so we hang out less but still do. Sometimes it's at his place, most of the time now it's at my friend vin's house who has nothing except a 64, PS2 and older consoles. I also remember saying in other posts that I could only have access to his 360 on the weekends as well, funny how you didn't quote me saying that as well...next time please quote everything I say, not just part of it. My place I don't have a 360 obviously...just xbox one, PS2(none online ported) a GC and a DS as far as newer or last gen consoles.

I didn't play UMK3 and most of the people here didn't either. Right now UMK3 is the "filler" until MK8.

You however I just wanted to state a few things that I wanted you to know referring to Midway and MK games. I remember when I brought you over to this site long ago man, you even told me via mic back in the MKD days that you got into MK with the 3D games...

I'm not saying you never played the older games, I'm sure you have I just hope that one day you can realize that games like MK2 and UMK3 have and always will have more comp then the games you're more into like MKD and MKA.

I also hope that MK8 changes for the better and attracts more players.

You misunderstand me a little bit on what I want, you see I wanted UMK3 revamped for online and I got just that with Midways good job of porting it to the 360 and DS.

However, in saying so I ALSO want a better 3D MK game then the previous ones. MK8+

You see, mesofly I'm what you call a "total hardcore MK fan" I don't just play the 2D's or the 3D's. I play ALL MK's period, one thing that's very rare these days as you usually have your "2D MK fans" and your "3D MK fans"

I'm for both. Even the adventure MK games man, if it's MK I'm there.
