Li Mei is most likely going to suck. Not only will she have limited play(because no one cares about her) which means not as much will be discovered about her, but she just seems like shes going to lack same things she lacked in MKDA, which is being safe and still dealing damage.
Yo SWB I got ur PM, but since ur a poster in this topic ill just reply here. I think it's ill how ur gonna play Sub-Zero and shit, but you should reconsider renting. I mean come on. This game is not even going to close to being as bad as MKDA was. So just chill dude. Im sure u can afford it. Give it a try. With the community and online play it will be fun nonetheless even if the gameplay is lacking a bit.
Sinister Serpent you REALLY need to chill with that shit man. Whether it's blockable or not, the hellfire will not be as good as it was in MKDA. Simple as that. Without Pi Gua it would just be another good move(that's if it's unblockable). You're just gonna have to take the fact that Scorpion is going to be toned down in MKD and relearn him like we all have to do with our main characters here and there. If you can't handle the fact that Scorpion might be mid tier than just switch to a char who's top. Plenty of peeps do that and don't take heat, so don't even sweat it.

Oh, and as for my mains for MKD? Sub-Zero,Noob/Smoke and Jade. I have a feeling Jade is gonna suck, but when I was younger she was my favorite girl character and I was pretty much nutty butty about her, so im gonna play her hardcore she sucks or not. Noob/Smoke cuz Smoke is like my second favorite character and I like Noob as well. If you have to ask why Sub will be my main by now then you should be banned.

Meh. Hotaru will most likely be tops, but I doubt his Death Trap Set Up Game will be any good. Pi Gua didn't have any knock back moves. We'll see with his other stances and specials.

Who said that throws are unblockable ??? Great news, but I still think that characters won't have throw escape. This is MK afterall.

Watch the new Kobra vs. Scorpion video. The first throw of the match Scorpion obviously grabs Kobra despite the fact that he was blocking. Also at 1:34 in the same movie it looks like Scorpion is lunging for a throw and gets broken but it's hard to tell.

This post has been great! I actually took the time out of my day to read the majority of them. Good one Vers! Anyway, I am no expert on tiers but I consider myself to be a very good MK player. I guess I will find out for sure in a month but here is my take....
I agree that Bo Rai Cho will again be top tier. It drove me crazy that so many people said he sucked in DA. I would definately have put him in my top 5 from that game.
Yes Nightwolf and Kobra are looking plain sick!
I am dissappointed so far at Kenshi.... I know that his moves if blocked left him wide open for retaliation in DA, but I still considered him one of the better characters. San Shou or whatever definately is better than judo, thats for sure!
Scorpion does seem to have slipped down a little but I will have to give his new stance a chance. By the way.... I never used him that much in DA and when I did I never ventured into Pi Gua. Can you in a short summary give me its greatest strengths in your opinion? thanks. again great thread.

A lot of people are overlooking Dariou, he's got an earthquake move that is really fast and it juggles, plus he has a position switch teleport plus a projectile. The only question I see is in his fighting styles. but so far he looks like a solid character.

I gotta watch Dariou match videos before I can make an assumption.

Versatile, it amazes me how HUNG you are on Pi Gua. lol
Hellfire can also be used with Hapkido in pretty good ways.
It is guranteed after 4+<1 as well as down+4.
I'm also an ace at nailing it right after side-stepping. *prays universal tracking is gone*.

Dairou seems sub-par...his projectile sucks (does a sidekick and a 3-point ninja star comes out of it). His slam move comes out quick, but is like Jarek's...once you get used to it, you will see it coming a mile away. His weapon is a modified Kung Lao MKDA weapon (forgot what it's called lol), which isn't bad...but it's not that good either.

Im not hung on Pi Gua. Im just saying Hapkido isn't that good. It's just ok. Why use that when you can use Pi Gua. You're intentionally hinderings your chances of winning for absolutely no reason. I am not dogging hapkido. I am just stating the obviousl that it isn't as good as Pi Gua, and unless The new stance is just as good as Pi Gua, Scorpion will not be better.

watch there be one characters that'll surprise us all (hopes it's baraka)

this is what I think it will be:
Top Tier:
1. Hotaru - He has great specials, probably gonna have the best stance in the game, a weapon that looks like one of the best, and another decent stance.
2. Bo Rai Cho - Looks like he did in DA and Sumo looks very good. Hopefully they broke his infinite.
3. Kobra - GREAT specials(Teleport Punch, did you guys see that low hit projectile? Shit), has some pretty quick moves, a great throw(if they are unblockable he'll be even better)
4. Scorpion - Now, I know this may seem a bit high for him, minus the Pi Gua and the Hellfire controversies, but Hapkido is a decent stance, Moi Fai looks a little better then Hapkido, and Mugai Ryu looks alot better then Ninja Sword especially with the quickness factor. and Teleport kick looks like one of the best specials. and a nice throw to go along with it aswell.
5. Baraka - Hung gar, Silate looks promising with a really fast sweep, and high attacks that pack a punch, not much is known yet about blades and specials.
6. Nightwolf - Well he has Tae Kwan Doe and a LOAD of nice specials, namely the thing with lightning coming down on him which can be done from a distance, Tomahawks look like they have some moves that can go straight into other ones, whether it be juggles, or something quick like a 2 hit combo with more power to avoid those combo breakers.
7. Sub-Zero - Shotokan looks like it has some kool new power moves on top of the good ones he already has, and with ice clone in the mix he looks like he has numerous possibilities, which can also aid in avoiding combo breakers to savor more power. But if he doesn't have shaker I don't think he will be this high, but if he does its a strong possibility he will.
