Lmao @ gscbw21. Your post is all about Hating the ps2 console.
I still think the Gamecube has more kiddie games than any console. It's more for kids obviously. the ps2 controller is the best controller overall. You may not like it but it's still the best.
Online play it's for the people with no social life? Playing tournaments with my real friends when they can't come to my house or i can't go to theirs it's not social life? lmao!
You may not see that because you like the GC and hate the PS2.

Pthagangsta I'm sure this will get modded but get a fucking clue and learn to read. He isn't hating on the ps2 he's hating on gaming in general these days and the fanbois associated with it, like you.
I do have to say you could apply the comment about GTA:VC to MK deception as well. Bugs and unimaginative gameplay/story/design it's all been done before and done better.

Here's my 2 cents:
I've held out from buying the PS2 version (don't own an X-Box) for the simple reason that I knew the Gamecube version was going to have some exclusives, and I wanted to know what they were. That still doesn't cinch the deal, though, Shao Kahn or Goro or whoever. Do 2 new characters counteract online play? Debatable. To some, yes, to others, no. Some will feel scammed, others will feel just fine. It was the same way with another fighter:
Soul Calibur II.
X-Box had Spawn! But Gamecube got Link! And PS2 got... Heihachi? Crap! Is it a good idea or a bad idea? It's probably a bad idea with good marketing potential. There will always be people who want more, who feel ripped off. People with Gamecubes will want those bios (I know I do) and online play (which Gamecube has but doesn't use... damn them), while X-Box and PS2 owners will want Goro and Shao Kahn. Of course, we know the only way to be 100% happy is to buy two systems and two versions of the same game, but that just isn't very financially sound. So, what can you do?
Deal with it. Be mature and accept that, no matter what, you can't have everything. Enjoy what you have, online play, bios, or additional characters.
I won't lie. I've been a Nintendo fan for a long time. Every single "official" MK fighter has been on a Nintendo system, from MK1 to MK:D, and I'm glad they're continuing on with the tradition. The PSX version and N64 version of MK: Trilogy and MK4 were very different, too, both with perks and faults, and that traditions continues on as well. Pick a game, enjoy it, and wait for the next installment.
Concerning Nintendo's "kiddie" status, well, not to beat a dead horse or add heat to the fire, but a system is only what you perceive it to be. I bought my Gamecube for Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, and several other "mature" games, but games like Zelda or Metroid Prime are hardly "kiddie" games (even Wind Waker... of course, the new Zelda looks damn cool), and I'm glad Midway didn't let a stereotype keep a gamer like me from enjoying MK:DA or MK:D. Nintendo does have some kiddie games... but so does PS2 and X-Box. All have mature titles, too. All have good games, all have bad games. But, no matter what, all these systems have MORTAL KOMBAT, in some form or fashion, and, in the end, that settles well with me... now, if only Tekken would get off of their PS2 love and show us GCN and X-Box owners some love... lol.
Fatality.

Sometimes people just don't get it...
If you ask me at any given moment what system I play more and enjoy more, I'll say Gamecube. But I do play my PS2 quite a bit and when I move in 2 weeks I'll be playing my buds Xbox as well. But to say a game is kiddie, and therefore, not fun or beneath you, shows how mature some people are.
My point here is not to rag on one system or another, but to show what is wrong with the industry. Good developers (like Midway, Ubisoft, etc.) have been forced to rush products out and sacrifice quality and features (as well as change the feel of the games themselves.) When a game like Beyond Good and Evil sells crappily because the pulisher has to put a greater emphasis on their FPS coming out, something is wrong. This industry has gone from being about new experiences and new worlds to realism and a dark feel. As I said, I miss the innovation and the feel I used to get from games. That is all.

I think the addition of Shao Kahn is awesome. Goro on the other hand is kind of old but maybe it'll be cool seeing how he translates to the new fighting engine.
However, even though I'm bummed out that I'm going to miss out on it (I don't own a Game Cube) I still say the X-Box and PS2 versions are better for the online play.
Yes the Game Cube version gets two exclusive characters but without online play to show them off they'll be played put in a week or two and then they'll be old news.
And I still say there's no reason not to patch the X-Box version via Live! and give us Shao Kahn and Goro.

Seriously, these 2 characters aren't even going to make up for online play. If it wasn't for online, I'd never even play the game.

I'm personally looking forward to the GC ver. of MKD, just for the sole fact that I think that the GC controllers are better suited for fighting games than say, the X-Box. I have played every fighting game for GC from MKDA to Def Jam: Fight for New York, and the controller for me is nice and flowing, in a sense. And I'm not biased toward GC, b/c I've tried playing the same games on PS2 and X-Box, and the controls for it just feel weird. And like previously stated, GC does have Online capabilities, you guys just don't want it, b/c Nintendo does not blow it's horn about it. The Gamescube was meant to do one thing, and one thing only: play games. Not to play DVD's, or have a hard drive, or burn music or anything else like that. So, before you go knocking Gamecube again, think about why we first picked up a controller..to play games.

Great posts from gscbw21.
And I know it's contrary to the moral of Mortal Kombat, but can we at least be happy for one another?
GC owners weren't even going to get the game, and now they're getting it half a year late, with all of the secrets spoiled and no online play. In order to compensate, they're being given two characters. Whoop-di-doo. Certainly deserved, rather than assigning an incomplete game.
I can understand PS2 owners and X-Box owners wishing that Shao Kahn and Goro were in their respective versions of the game, but to wish that they *weren't* in the GameCube version is just selfish and assy. The two extra characters in the GC version don't detract from the game you already own. They're not taking two characters from the PS2/XBox versions and shipping them off to the GC version. Complain if you like about the lack of SK/Goro from the original versions, but don't wish detractions from the GC version.
I gave the same advice to GC owners who were sore about MK: Deception not coming to the GameCube at all back before it was re-announced. Just because one group doesn't have something and another group does, doesn't mean that it needs to be taken away so that we all suffer together.
Anyways, just my little truce proposal. Y'all can get back to your flame war now.

if shao kahn and goro are just a couple of shells in the game (i.e. no story, no ending, no fatals, no fighting stances/weapons) then it's just a waste of time to be talking about this....and how a damn system war can start over the announcement of two charactars(which once again may suck) is beyond me

I think the Gamecube should get more than Goro and Shao Kahn. I have a PS2 and a Gamecube, but I got it for PS2 because I'd rather have online. Also, Goro and Shao Kahn will be really strong, and would beat everybody else. I think they deserve some new normal characters, as well as Goro and Shao Kahn.

pft. big whoop. i'll treat it the same as mkgold. if something it only shows up in one version of the game, then it didn't happen in terms of the MKstory.
besides all that, they probably just did a shitty throw together for the two characters anyway. like i said, big whoop

Like Reptile, Kitana, Scorpion, and jade popping up in UMK3? Sorry, but as far as add-ons go, the characters are usually given relevance.
Good example: Kung Lao did not appear in MK4, but he appeared in MKGold, and made peace with Goro in his ending. MKDA confirmed this to have happened.
