Hopefully Steve Ritchie reprises the voice of Shao Kahn and the taunts from MK2.

Before the game says "FIGHT"

Kahn should say something like

"Feel the wraaathh of Shao Kahn!!"

"Feel the power of Shao Kahn!!"

His dash should be in there and if he wins he should walk up to his opponent and say, "That was pathetic"

Just like back in MK2.

Oh and his alternate outfit should be the one from MK2

While every one was complaining about the gc version of MKD i went out and bought a game cube. Yes the controller style sucks and has its ups.The big problem with game cube is its' marketing. It only markets for kids mainly. Very few matured rated games. and the graphics could be better for a 128 bit system.tongue

what game were you playing??? Go play RE Remake, star wars rogue Squadron (1 or 2), Metroid (1 or 2)... and then tell us that the graphics could be better.

WAY TO GO MIDWAY ....

Not only did you rotten bastards screw over the X-Box & PS2 owners with a garbage "Cheater-Friendly" online play and a garbage fighting system that has the most infinite combos and piss pour collision detection of this generation, you then turn around give two extra "exclusive" characters to a third-place console system that has an installed base of ............. what? ............ 2 Million fuckin Romper Rooms worldwide?!?! And you no doubt fixxed the inifites and other garbage in this version, too, eh?!? God Grief, there's a *REASON* why Nintendo is in last place -- IT'S A FUCKIN' KIDDIE MACHINE ... and priced to attract the parents of those said kiddies.

Jesus Christ, Midway .... moves like this just gives asshole Senators credence to their argument that you specifically marget your violent video games to kiddies depite the big "T" rating on the front of the sonofabitch ... because no matter how you spin it, the majority of 18-30 years olds own PS2 and X-Box consoles and those people are *supposed* to be your ripe marketing demographic for this type of game. Here, for over 10 years, we've been defending you people from Senators and political interest groups just itching to put you all out of business by making a good connection that violent game developers specifically market their games to kids ....................... and here you go ahead and do just THAT as well as piss off the millions of hard working, PS2/X-Box owning adults whose $50 are practically bank-rolling it (afterall, your accountants haven't seen black ink in 7 years).

For those of you planning on getting GCs, listen to me because I'm gonna shoot straight with you: Midway is just making marks of you by banking on the idea that you WILL buy this version and make it a success just because Goro and Shoa Kahn are in it. If you folks had any brains, you'd speak with your wallet and REFUSE to do so, which may give Midway the good clean kick in the ass they need. With you all jumping on the GC bandwagon for a couple of extra characters, Midway will walk away from the experiance as having no incentive to actually address, fix, or even appolgize for the embarrasment they put on the shelves in the first place for PS2/X-Box owners (which, despite the inclusion of Goro & Kahn, may or may not have been fixed in your GC version) and neither will they ever recieve an incentive to delay something WE ALL wanted (and should've gotten) in the first place. Seriously, last time I checked, my birth certificate didn't say that I was put on this world to make Sumner Redstone any more richer than he needs to be by shilling out garbage that --- had their been an extra 4-6 month delay --- would've been something more deserving of our $50.

Calm down and watch your language.

Goro & Kahn = Thumbs Up.

Kudo's to Midway to be honest...you people forget that at the same time as making the best game possible for the consumers...they're a BUSINESS, when its all said and done.

So by puttin 2 HUGELY popular characters on one system ONLY, whats it going to tempt people to do?

The same thing Im goin to do...buy a GameCube and buy Deception, despite already havin it on PS2

So before you quit whining, look at it the other way...Be thankful they put anything new in there at all.

For you Gamecube owners : Once upon a time you werent getting MKD

For you non-Gamecube owners : Go buy a gamecube, you got Deception months b4 the Cube owners.

Im going to fork out the money for a Cube, why? Cos Im a MK fan, not a console fan.

As for the characters themselves..I hope they dont have a direct impact on the storyline, cos this wud jus confuse things for MK7, dont ya think? =)

Im just glad Im gettin the chance to play as characters I thought were long gone. You shud 2.

Some bonus ... I've got one resonse for loss of extra bios and it's the same response I use on those 3DMark fiends who do nothing all day but run the benchmark all day long only to brag on a message board about the leet numbers they get: THE BIOS AREN'T GAMES! They're bullshit! Just like filler on a commericial music CD. As for the lack of MK1 ... that's nothing that a few hours on Sharaza or Overnet can't fix. Contrary to popular misconception, you don't need 12,000 3DMark 03 points to run MK1 via MAME and it'll run without shadow glitches, stuttering/missing sound, and other ridculous oversights in programming that are found in the console-specific emu. Definately not worth the extra $10 and not worth rewarding Midway over. They marketed it as "Arcade Perfect". It isn't. Case closed.

> Kudo's to Midway to be honest...you people forget

No, I didn't forget that Midway is a BIZZZZNESSSSS. Hardly. In fact, I consider that argument the biggest fuckin' cop-out I've ever seen. See, at one point, I *USED* to use the "they're a bizzzznessss" as a reason/excuse to give Midway a pass just as long as they'd give me something with the MK logo smeared all over it once every blue moon to keep me pascified. Much like you, I'd be all "Orp! Orp! Orp!!" just like a mindless trained seal whenever someone slammed on Midway. Sorry, but my mind no longer works that way and my wake up call one day I realized that the personal values of average consumer "changed" all of sudden. Years ago, "the customer was always right" was the law of the land. Now, the people have cruficifed their brains and continue to open their wallets in blind worship of senseless "Itz da eee-con-o-mee, stew-pid!!" rhetoric of the Clinton Adminstration (and the said pussification continues with the current Bush Adminstration). As a result, I'm convinced that the only people who use the "they're a bizzznessss" reason/excuse in defense of any FOR PROFIT, CORPORATE ENTITY ... are those very same people who blindly accept -- NAY! -- enjoy getting fucked out of their $50 as long as they get something that makes a whirring noise or perhaps have pretty widddle wights (blinkity-blink!). In this case with Midway, we've got people who'll take it up the tail-pipe just as long as they get a little blood, some guts, and wee bit of screaming. I really hate to sound like George Carlin but he is right -- whomever coined the phrase "Let The Buyer Beware" was definately bleeding out of his asshole and I'll add the majority of those who DO bleed from the asshole to this very day are the same people who continue to use the "they're a BIZZZZNESSSSS" excuse in defense of corporations who -- dare I say -- have the audacity to think "We owe the end-users nothing!" only to turn around and expect that once they toss something up on the capitalistic shelves of America, we somehow OWE THEM by purchasing up those wares, resulting in them raking in the dough (regardless of the quality of the wares).

While you keep using the "They're a BIZZZZNESSSSS" mantra in defense of Midway, I however will look at their money-trail (or lack thereof) and submit to you the idea that a business man's FIRST HINT that his model/method for making money needs re-tooling is when THE BUSINESSMAN HASN'T TURNED A PROFIT IN 2 YEARS!! That should be the FIRST CLUE! "Hey, I've been investing more of my money than I'm earning in these 2 years? What's wrong with this picture?" Midway has had 7 years of operating in the red to get a clue. Once you divorce yourself from your love of Mortal Kombat as well as your fandom of Midway, then comes the naked question: Does this company actually DESERVE to survive when they're showing no inclination to either lead or follow?!?

No, they don't.

And if it wasn't for Sumner Redstone, they wouldn't.

>
> The same thing Im goin to do...buy a GameCube

Congrats! By doing so, you're supporting a console company that's in last place because they've continued to insult the intelligence of the average consumer with their business model ("Grand Theft Auto will never appear on a Nintendo product!") much like Wal-Mart does with commericial music CDs as well a supporting a video game developer who'll repay you ... in about roughly two years when they insult your intelligence during a FIGHT NIGHT chat!

>
> Be thankful they put anything new in there at all.

And yet another cop-out to make us feel obligated to prop up Midway's goofy business model.

> For you non-Gamecube owners : Go buy a
> gamecube, you got Deception months b4

I don't support losing companies. Period.

You either lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Nintendo hasn't lead or followed in years because they're too busy focusing on "cash-cows" in the hopes that you'll be suckered into them (e.g. Pokemon, their monopoly of the hand-held market). Nintendo thinks they'll survive by carving themselves a little niche market in the console sector while using the capital from their Pokemon and hand-held sales to offset the costs. It won't work. SNK tried it with the Neo-Geo and LOST (and they gave it a fight Nintendo never will).

Eh. I'm annoyed I can't have Shao Khan waste the Dragon King but it's no big deal. Maybe a Gamecube-purchasing friend will pick it up or something. I wouldn't really expect much, they'll probably be pretty unbalanced characters and feel really tacked on. Not to mention they'll probably have weak, ineffective-to-the-story endings since they are "bonus characters" for only one version of the game. Hope I'm wrong.

"1. controllers are better than PS2 or the original Xbox"

Yeah, right. While people with dinky hands (and some girls) don't like the original XBox controller because of it's size, it's a perfectly capable controller, while the PS2 is probably the best one for a current console. The Gamecube controller looks like it was designed differently just to say it was different, which is never a good plan if there's no reasoning behind it. What was the magazine that said it looked like it was made for an outer space moon octopus hand? Whichever it was, it was right.

"2. there is online play, people just don't want to support"

And they don't support it because they know the system may as well be dead outside its first party games and Resident Evil (which is being wasted at this point, and I'm sure Capcom knows it and won't make the same mistake on the next gen consoles). Making the broadband adapter a seperate purchase anytime after PS2's release is barely "supporting" it at all, by the way.

"3. or many of the other great exclusive games - Zelda, Metroid, Eternal Darkness..."

Eternal Darkness is actually pretty darn cool because of the weird innovation, but the game itself isn't that great once you know all its "tricks." Zelda, Metroid, Mario....sigh. Usually solid stuff (usually, as in Mario Sunshine was pretty lame), but part of the reason Nintendo is getting its ass handed to them is because they keep falling back on the same stuff system after system.

"4. it's a games machine, not a DVD player"

Ah yes, the automated, kneejerk Nintendo response. As if intending to be a "games machine" suddenly makes it ok that it lacks the capabilities of its competitors. What, were the XBox and PS2 NOT intended to be game machines? MS and Sony didn't go into designing these systems with the thought pattern of "let's make a DVD player....that just so happens to play games." It was the other way around.

"5. sure, how about some solid reasons?"

That's not enough for you? It's the holidays, I've given you more than enough.

Not even gonna bother quoting the clown above me who decided that my opinion offended him/her/it

Anyway, either buy the game or dont.

Put up or shut up.

Im guessin that most of the whiners dont have the brass to be able to go buy the Cube and/or the game.

So whilst ur sat there in a few months, foldin ur arms in anger, mutterin words of abuse at Midway, most of us will be plying our hands at Goro and Kahn.

I know which person Id rather be.

Wha???...Why was the other thread discussing this exact same thing closed, when there are still threads open from 9 months ago that haven't been touched since? confused Eh, anyway, my two cents...

So Cube owners have a MKD now. Neat - only so many months after it came out. Huh? How do you re-release something? Why, just ask George Lucas - he knows! What happened when he revamped the special effects in the SW trilogy? Some people cheered and rejoiced, and some people shat themselves in disgust. Looks like the same kind of thing going on here.

To both 'sides', you're both 'right' - the Cube owners deserve a chance to play; albeit not online, so just for fun we'll assume they're the worst players of all. Now, time for some Reverse Psychology - if the GC players ever want to prove how good they are nation-wide, guess what? They've got to buy a PS2 or XBOX! (Online play only makes a fighter about 100x cooler - I'll never consider buying another fighter again unless it's online, therefore making fighters on the GC worthless to me - a system which I do own)

At the same time, making 'modifications' of an original is a sin in the eyes of some artists. (Let's not even get into how much of the 'popular' music of today is straight rip-offs of other music...) MKD for the GC is a modification of a modification, OF the original. Convoluted and dumb, but hey - it's about the money, honey. Still, I don't appreciate it, just like I didn't appreciate SC2 having different 'special' characters across the different platforms.

Also, I'm not "crying" or "whining" - I'm voicing my opinion. To say someone is whining when they're only expressing themselves means you either don't care, or think the opposite way, so just continue doing that and stop being accusatory. Some of you point so many fingers that I feel like I'm having one jammed down my throat. smile

Cheers!

You people are complaining over retarded polygons while the core gameplay suffers. It's about high time that the fans demand a Namco quality fighter in the MK universe.

No more of this "oh MK is just different." No, Boon is a lazy fuck and doesn't feel like spending money to code a real fighting system.
