I don't think Sonya looks like a man in-game, but I agree that no alternate costumes is pretty bullshit. Last game no bios this game no alts? The hell is that. Hopefully not true.

I also like how he tip toes his way around the answer. I think we all know that when two people pick the same person the other player will have a slightly different color variation or so. If there are no alts Boon just say it.

Oddly enough I got that impression as well. He said there would be a way to tell the fighters apart if the same character is chosen say in vs mode. But never did he actually confirm and say "Yes! alternate costumes are in" I got the feeling when he was talking about a way to tell a fighter apart, that he meant crappy recoloring of the same outfit. Which won't add any variety to the game play visually, and the replay value will dwindle as a result.

Name one fighting game that was released in the last five years that didn't have alternate costumes.

At this point,they are pretty much a genre requirement. They WILL be there.

well.. it's hard to believe they're taking out minigames and konquest and stuff and not even having a few costumes per person. it seems like they're losing more things than they're gaining

i do hope they have alt. costumes. because if for ex. liu kang was a zomibe as his primary costume, then we wouldnt be able to change into his human form.

That was in all of the past 3D games too, along with Alts.

For example, if two people picked masked SubZ in MK:DA one of them would be purple. Alt Costumes must be earned, so when two people pick the same character in an MK game before unlocking their alt they're just recolors of the regular costume.

Which is wh I'm hoping that they give Flash Zoom's costume as a recolor and not an alt.

Anyhoo, I think it's safe to say that there will be alternate costumes, knowing that Ed Boon said so himself. It's on the 16 minute hands on preview on gamespot.com. Boon talks about how he'll try not to go over the top with Superman and Batman's costumes.

There should and will be alternates. Just because it's not been said in an interview yet, doesn't mean that it's not in there. Same with the characters, just because there are not that many characters confirmed yet, doesn't mean that they're not there.

But remember, patiences is key when waiting, just because you want news to come out within a snap of a finger, doesn't mean it will come out just like that. You have to basically wait, just like Cartman had to wait for the Wii, waiting impatiently outside Midway Corporation here in Chicago won't make news pop up any faster... nor time.

He was asked about Alternate costumes in 2 different interviews, The way he replied made it seem that the only variation in costumes we were going to see is a 2nd player color if both player choose the same characs...

He also said something about DC not allowing different looks for their characters when the guy asked if we would see alt costumes from the comics.

But yeah, I do agree that no alts would be horrible! Im sure some people will say "its no big deal", but no matter how much you want to deny it, this just takes away some of the essence of the game. Its part of the beautiful quality that makes it even more interesting and FUN to play!

Take those away, and yes, it will suck...and badly. Will it ruin the game? No....but will it make the game feel like it could had been so much more and better in quality, etc.? Yes. Plain and simple.

These kinds of things, though not THE most important, are still very important for gamers around, and that includes high level players. Just because you are a high level player doesn’t mean you cant care about everything else or not even want this bits of awesome stuff that are needed.



SCREW STUPID DC!!!!

I mean, if because of THEM, we, the MK Fans, aren’t getting alternates for our loved Mk characters, then that’s horribly unfair!

Don’t give the DC characters alts if DC doesn’t want that, let the DC fans complain to DC because of that, they have their right to do so...but that doesn’t mean the MK characters CANT have alts and have to be screwed too!

I didn't get that vibe, I got the vibe that they just don't want to mess around with the DC character icons on their chests say, but nobody "ever said" for sure even Boon that there wouldn't be alternates for sure.

Besides, honestly even if there aren't I won't care...the older MK's had none yet nobody cared.

That and the fact that with alternates it's just another thing people fight about "who loves it" vs. "who hates it" the same old tune.

No alternate costumes would be insane and highly unlikely. If DC aren't prepared to let their haracters have alternates, then that shouldn't stop the MK cast having them.

I think that DC will give Ed Boon and his team a pre-made list of costumes to choose from.

I hope this does not apply to Catwoman, because she is not supposed to wear the same thing twice... like Oprah!

Ed Boon: " Yeah we are gonna have like if both players pick Batman, or both players pick Superman or something, we really want to have another version of the character for people to tell which one they are. We are not going to have dramatically different characters because obviously, you know, we probably wont be allowed to like take off Superman's S or Batman's symboll."

Take it as you will, but to me it sounds like there's no Alt costumes at the moment.
