I’m not a Sonya fan but I didn’t really dislike her until Jax became her trusty side kick. I just got sick of those two carrying on the same ‘must stop black dragon’ story line through out the MK series. Hopefully Kano is dead and Kenshi will become her SF partner for a bit, although IF Kano is dead perhaps this is the time to loose Sonya and give Kenshi the position of SF agent since his story line has just started. It feels like the Jax and Sonya angle has been wrapped up with her promotion and all.

About Sonya, I wouldnt really be mad if she does not make it in MKD, I mean, she has been IN EVERY MK game, in Mk2 she was VERY important for the story and all. Its clear she is the TEAMS favorite female.

I dont want her to die, I want her in MKD, but if that means she WONT be in Mk7, then I rather NOT see her in MKD and see her back with ALL her MIGHT on MK7.

They're all classic characters, yes, but up until Deception there has been plenty of potential classics that have been denied. The way it's shaping, Cyrax will probably get screwed out of Deception, which is lame since he was really only in MK 3 and DA (MK Gold is just an update of MK 4, so not part of the 'main' series, which is why DA's 'MK History' only covered MK 1, 2, 3, and 4, leaving out UMK 3, MKT, and MKG). I doubt Kitana, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and Sonya would all return as well, since there's only, what, three classic character slots left? Anyone of those characters would probably get prioty over someone like Sektor, Smoke, or Fujin. What I'm saying is that the standards (Sub, Scorp, Jax, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Kano, and Kung Lao) are nice, it wouldn't kill anyone to leave them out and give the lesser knowns a second chance. Still, with Ermac, Noob, Nightwolf, Sindel, Mileena, Kabal, and Baraka all back, and only three classic slots left, that's exactly what happened. At least it shows Boon is trying to give the others a chance, so I won't complain if another standard comes back. We already got seven under-used characters making Deception, which is honestly more than I could have hoped. I love Sonya as much as you do dude, but there is no reason to panick dude! Sonya will alwyas be a very imprtant element in the games. Umm. Sub may not have been evil, well not totally anyway but you are wrong: In MK that SubZero was indeed the younger bother because the Original Subzero was thought to have been killed in the first tournament.

Sonya has been a favorite character of mine since MK1. She was the very first character I played with and then I just sort of "got hooked" on playing with her, you know? So I would love to see her in Deception. If not, then, like some other Sonya fans who have posted here, I wouldn't be mad either.

But I DO think, however, that Sonya falls into what I call a "Second Tier" of classic fighters. The "First Tier" are characters that absolutely HAVE to be in Mortal Kombat, and they are Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Although I've never really personally liked to play as them, they are the best all-time warriors because of their ability to "stun' other fighters with their Freeze and Spear moves, respectively, and no Mortal Kombat game would be the same without them.

But as for Sonya, she isn't a "First Tier" fighter so she doesn't HAVE to be in every Mortal Kombat game. But I agree that Midway DOES seem to pick her as their favorite classic female fighter.... Simply put, we just don't know about Sonya.

Yes, her Special Forces storyline with Kano needs to die. But, she is part of the Outerworld Investigation Agency which helps to protect invasions from new realms, so Boon and company can easily give her a new storyline with possible new threats from other realms.

So if Sonya makes it, that's cool. If she doesn't, that's cool, too. But I think every game MUST have Sub-Zero and Scorpion in it, even if I never play as them. Their presence just makes Mortal Kombat what it is, and Sonya and other "Second Tier" characters like Johnny Cage, Rayden, kung Lao, Kitana, and others don't have to be in every game.

The younger (current) Sub-Zero first appearewd in MK2. The original Sub-Zero was sent to kill Shang Tsung but was killed by Scorpion in MK1. In MK2 the Lin Kuei found out Sub-Zero failed and they sent his younger brother to finish the job. It says so in his ending.
