Here are my ideas:
Now that MK:DA has made its phenomenal appearance, rebirthing the MK series as we know it, we can all rest assured that there will be another Mortal Kombat game (and in case you haven't heard, the MK Development Team did confirmed this at last month's Fight Night). While no one really knows if this game will be a true sequel, I'd like to think that the next MK game will be a sequel to Deadly Alliance. As such, I thought I'd share my list of "wants" for MK(6). Please let me know what you think, and feel free to share your ideas as well.
GAMEPLAY
A while back, I shared the idea of making the next Mortal Kombat game a more immersive experience. That is, Konquest Mode would be revamped to allow for a complete training/designing of your particular character. This would be an advance "Create-a-Character", allowing for fighter development with borrowed elements from current Role Playing Games. There is a lot to discuss with this, so I will instead point you to the thread that describes this. See it here: http://www.mk5.org/content/forum/showmessage.cds?name=main&message;=195946
Additionally, I'd like to see the cool new Style Branch remain. I do believe that the MK Team has taken the correct route in giving each character 2 fighting styles, and a weapon. Perhaps to even this out better, however, a few new special moves (teleports, projectiles, etc.) could be added to better round out each character. Also to add to this, a better defense system could be added to counteract many of the powerful offensive maneuvers MK usually offers. Parrying, reversals, quick-side steps, and the ability to dodge when knocked down should be given to all characters. Impaling moves and taunts should be reserved as special moves, as I feel they are an unfair advantage to characters that have them in addition to powerful specials (Sub-Zero having an impale and his ice freeze makes for a pretty weighted fight).
ARENAS
One thing I was a little bummed out about in MK:DA was that the stages were all very beautiful to look at, but not very fun to fight on. Like Tao Feng, I would like to see characters be able to interact with object in stage and use them tactically (jump off walls, swing on poles, etc.). Furthermore, eliminate the barriers! Allowing characters to walk up hills, down flights of stairs, into dips and holes, etc. would make fighting very interesting. Of course, this opens way for realistic body damage (hitting a leg will weaken kicks, etc.) Very complex, but very interesting. And just because I can throw this in: I'd love to see a stage like Scorpion's Lair from the MK Movie!
STORY
Much like the Lord of the Rings movies, I do believe MK:DA intentionally left storylines unfinished. I do hope that this was done to allow for storyline continuation in a sequel. Realistically, I would opt for an MK1 prequel (how did Goro achieve 9 MK victories, how did Shang come to power, who is the original Kung Lao?). However, I do believe the team will decide to continue with the MK:DA Dragon King storyline, which is also a very good thing. Ideally, Reptile would not be the Dragon King. In my opinion, this is a little bit cheesy and lacks imagination. I would much rather see one member of the Deadly Alliance (preferably Shang Tsung) survive defeat and continue to resurrect the Dragon King army, finishing with the Dragon King himself. Of course, this would be the final boss. Shang Tsung, being the Soul Stealing fiend that he is, would then slay the King, and use his soul to enable Shang to return to his true Demon form (mentioned in MK1, never yet seen). I am not sure where this would end up going, but I think some pretty cool things could happen.
To be continued ... ?
OUTWORLD ARMY:
Shang Tsung
* New Nomad
* New Evil Shokan
* Executioner Type Guy
* New Lady Ninja
NETHEREALM ARMY:
Quan-Chi
* Noob Saibot
* Reiko
* Sareena
* Drahmin
NEUTRAL:
Sub-Zero (New Earth's protector)
Scorpion
Smoke
Chow Kang
Kitana
Li Mei
Reptile (once possessed by Dragon King, he looks for it like a Golum seeking the Ring)

Gameplay
The gameplay will be the same (I hope) they don't need to add other things, just fix some bugs and little features, maybe like the clothes ripping or more weapons and other effects, maybe they will add something like The Krypt but smaller.
-Alities
This time we will have more than one fatalities, since that the game engine is done the MK Team will be focused in the end of the round and other features for the game and in the history as usual, maybe we'll see the Friendships and more brutal Fatalities.
History
In MK6 many things will be finished, like:
Reptile + Dragon King Situation.
The future of Mavado and the Red Dragon.
The End of the Deadly Alliance.
What happened to Shao Kahn.
Scorpion.
Drahmin and Moloch - The Onis.
Bo' Rai Cho and Kung Lao.
The Special Forces - Sonya and Jax.
Cyrax and Kenshi.
The Lin Kuei - Frost and Sub-Zero.
The Black Dragon.
Liu Kang's soul and Kano.
Personally I think that Bo' Rai Cho will keep training warriors, Kung Lao will be back, Frost need a break, Sub-Zero will find Smoke, something weird will happen to Kano with Liu's soul, Cyrax and Kenshi will leave the Special Forces, Mavado will attack The Lin Kuei but Smoke will fight him, Reptile will evolve, the Onis will back to the Netherealm, Scorpion will be back and someone from the old games will re-appear.
I think that the history for MK6 will be focused in a great destruction, something like the Dragon King facing the Earth warrior with the help of Shao Kahn with the Gods of the Earth involved (Earth, Fire, Water and Wind Gods) in a great war and devastation.

There could be special block, or evasion animations, for like a sweep, you would do a back flip.
The block animations could be used as counter attacks.
Look at Akira's high Reversal in VF4. He slaps the opponents hand then throws an elbow attack.
Well, in VF2 to do that same reversal you had to tap Block, then >and p.
Also look at Steve Fox in Tekken 4 his counter is like this. Tap RP,> then tap LP.
MKDA could do this in the same manner. Maybe tap > to parry, then press any attack button, to do certain attacks.
These attacks could be combo starters, like the ones in Bloody Roar 3.
-------------------------------------------------
Another idea, is to combine the 2 hand to hand styles in to 1 hybrid style, so you have one hand style, and one weapon style.
I think this would be better.
Also, make the fighting arsenals very intricate, like VF4, or Tekken.
But no just frame moves, keep it easy.
Gameplay -
Atleast Two Fatalities per character
- Stage Fatalities
- Atleast four special moves per character
- More combos per character(atleast six or seven per fighting style)
- Keep the existing game engine but improve upon it. Work on some of the shoddy animation and collision detection
- Make the arenas more interactive. The arenas looked awesome in MK:DA but it was annoying that you couldn't explore them since there were barriers that prevented you from fighting in the other 75% of the stage
- Downsize the Krypt drastically and make every koffin worth your while. There should only be 100-200 koffins. Every koffin should be worth your time. Ifthey insist on including tons of koncept art, put atleast 6 or 7 pieces of it in one koffin
- FMV endings: the endings would be so much better with it. MK:DA has been selling ridiculously well; they can definitely afford to it. And this time they should actually put some effort into it. The "FMV" endings in MK4 were disturbingly horrid and poorly done (I know this isn't happening but I can always dream)
- Make every fighting style unique and useful (ex: Wrestling; needs a serious overhaul) A lot of fighting styles were very poorly done and just seem to have been thrown in as an afterthought rather than planning out how it would be done beforehand.
- Include ripped clothing. Not a necessity but a lot of people were pissed that the feature wasn't included as promised so they should include it just to make those people happy
Bring back Baraka, Kabal, Smoke, Noob, Tanya, and Sektor
- Get rid of Bo Rai Cho, Hsu Hao, Blaze, Mokap, and last but not least, Frost :-p; keep everyone one else in MK:DA
- Give Mavado and Drahmin extremely important roles
- Get all the good guys seriously pissed at Mavado for sneaking around and causing some serious damage. When the good guys catch up, he'll be waiting with Quan Chi and Goro's successor
- Have Drahmin assimilate/absorb Moloch (a pretty good idea as to what exactly happened after Drahmin's ending sequence concluded) so a complete overhaul of his fighting styles and push as a major character can be justified
- Give every character a decent role. Even if it's not that important it shouldn't be completely separated from the main angle. Every character should have some connection to the DragonKing.
- A new Mavado cronie in the place of Hsu Hao. Give him a personality and a decent background. Make it so his look clearly identifies that he's with Mavado. Some good moves wouldn't hurt either
- A successor to Goro (Kintaro just kinda took over his spot, he was not the successor to Goro). Don't make him his son, but rather a Shokan that Goro trained. Brief story outline: He was almost as good as Goro but didn't want anything to do with Kahn so he went on his own when Kahn started hiring Shokan warriors as his henchmen. Goro promised him that he would be his successor, but it never officially happened due to the events in MK history involving the Shokan. Now that Goro is gone, he considers himself sucessor by default. He doesn't hold a grudge against the rest of the Shokan but doesn't paritcularlly like them either
- The ruler of Nitara's race. (hears about Nitara's adventure, and naturally wants to kill and take over everything

.....screaming at me the only way that I can truly be free from my fucked up reality.......

More Fatalities (at least two for each character)
The return of Liu Kang!
More detail in the effects of the fighting (visible cuts, bruises, sweat, etc)
The return to the good old fighting system we're all used to (HP, LP, HK, LK)
Interactive environments
More women (Don't go the DOA route, though)
New and classic stages (sometimes old is better than new, you know)
Trash talkin' characters (give them attitude, I say!)
Rip and tear in the clothes
Even more blood
That's all I can think of now.
You know what they say when FSU loses a football game: Rix Happens

But like in SC2 it would be kind of hard to knock someone out of the stage, unless you used a pop up move. Because the VF4 style ring outs are way too easy. The longer the fights last, the more I like them.

Like in street fighter 3 3rd strike.
I think it would make the fights look more realistic, and less cheap.
Juggles are cheap, because the character being juggled, cannot defend them selves.
