17 and happy but for my reasons.
When knowing of his death (I think it was on the boards), I was happy in the way of a plot twist... a big strike to the big guys in losing their hero. The thought of not hearing his cries also pleased me a little bit. Yet, when watching the opening and playing the game, the enjoyment vanished.
For one thing, Lui Kang's death was quick and painless. Not necessarily a bad thing, but when at the hands of someone who wants to see you dead, you can argue the "get it over with or kill brutally" point.
Second, his death to me was unsatisfying. It's just not how I thought he would die. Plus, his death was accredited to being hit in the back with a Flaming Skull attack. Are we really to believe that he couldn't recover after that many wins and training?
And finally, his death did absolutely nothing to the story. The only real "twist" was that he was dead and not going to win the tournament, so someone else would have to. Other than that, the story was pretty much useless, unless you consider Kung Lao's "revenge" win.
Now, the resurrection of Lui Kang might actually do something with the story, other than what his death did. If they've done it right, Lui Kang's return might actually be attributed to something and for something.
Though him having life might affect the story only a little more than him dieing, it will be more- which is better.
Plus, it has been six years for Lui Kang playability, as someone pointed out in an another thread

And... *checks*... Yep! Fully aroused! Seriously though, I've never had a problem with Lui Kang. I noticed that the only people I have ever met that dislike Kang always bitch because they get thier asses handed to them by Kang users. That doesn't go for everyone. Plus, I am excited to see EVIL Lui!

Allright. Ive got my final numbers
A thank you to everyone who participated.
A very special loving thank you to everyone who went out of their way to say the thread was a reardted waste of time, but couldnt resist participating in it anyways.
This thread was not about being politcally correct or guarding anyones delicate feelings. I feel that the inclusion of this boring Character, was an extremely immature and money grabbing move by midway. As a result, I wanted to see the maturity level of those who were happy about his return. Although Age does seem to be a contributing factor, it was much less a factor than I had originally thought.
My hope was that since most MK fans have been there since the first game, that their tastes would have matured and they would demand better from midway, as they have had so many chances to improve weak ass story ideas like this.
The Inclusion of Liu Kang bumped off alot of characters who would have been a much better addition. Cyrax, Sektor, Rain, Reptile, Kitana, Sonya, Quan Chi, Kung Lao, Nitara, Another Shokan and many others. Instead what we got was a recycled character with a cheap slight of hand resurection.

I decided to drop the age cut off, by considereding 18+ adults.
11.1% were neutral about his return
People -18 who were happy about his return - 27%
People +18 who were happy about his return - 28.8%
People -18 who were not happy about his return - 6.34%
People +18 who were not happy about his return - 27%
There you have it. I had expected the older people who have ahd to endure Lui Kang for so many years would have been tired of him. This is clearly not the case, whether it is nostalgia or some other reason I will never know.
This is good news for Boon and Co. This means they can spend endless more days sitting around drinking tequila and writting the story at the last minute.
The numbers of those who disliked his return and were adults was what I had antipated as was the amount of teens who were happy about it. The only suprise was the 28.8% of adult Mk fans who were happy about this.
Now please, comence bitching, I am really interested to hear it.

I think Lui Kang being in the game has something to do with Midway's people wanting to see him in there more than getting old fans back. But since we are on that topic: Do you think they would have added half the characters they have now if the fans didn't ask for them back anyway?
Plus, as for maturity (in the sense of the main topic at hand, mind you), have you read my post? My being happy of Lui's return has nothing to do with liking him or wanting to play as him.
