Most controllers give you 30 frames of input for 4 buttons.
Left/Right thumb stick (press)
white/black button
A common set up for me is using the two thumb sticks for specials and the white button for a move/combo that doesnt require a specific direction. I still use the black to throw, but I add a few perks.
I'll start by listing a few combos so you can get the idea. But I go a lot deeper into moves if you guys are interested.
NOW. Take the deep kick into throw (certian laggy games its the glitch throw.) Very hard to avoid in the corner and I think can be a free throw. One of my basic options for the white button for online gaming.
The +'s are spaces/frames.
The {}represents same input for that one frame.
White Button....................
U++++3++black = deep kick into throw.
I press the button and the direction on the d-pad I want to jump and I will execute a deep kick. If blocked I will IMMEDIATELY attempt a throw.
U++++3+D{U3} = deep kick into special.
Instead of a throw, I will do Baraka Blades as soon as I land.
If you look closely, the deep kick takes up 8 frames and on the 9th frame you can execute another move. So for the special, I used a frame to buffer the attack and the blades come out faster.
ACTUAL PROGRAM I USE is this
U+U++4+4Black = deep kick into throw with if then statements.
I fill in empty frames with additional commands.
Logic commands actually. If Then statements. If the first command misses due to lag, then do this.
Thumb Stick......................
Take Bo Rai Cho puke puddle.
B,F2 right??
I program something simple like
B{F2}+4+4+3
SO, if the puke puddle misses, his 2,4,4 combo automatically comes out in its place rather than an unsafe 2.
The last three I put is the full combo IF I hold up.
2,4,4,U3 will automatically come out.

Nice thread, Atari. I've always wanted to know how those controllers work.
Could please post a link to the controller you use?
Thanks gee!

Normally I would say those could actually give you an edge in a lot of 2D fighters say easier way to throw fireballs in games like SF however MKA is a 3D fighter and I wouldn't even waste my time with a programmable controller, I tried one out once for the hell of it against the computer...not worth it IMO.
I'd rather just buy an alternate controller like madcatz or something if you hate the 360 one.

Sup MKF? It still fascinates me though. I'd like to try it out sometime. I'll wait for Atari to send me the link and I'll order one for the hell of it.

Hey man what's up? How's everything?

Overall, it does hinder your gameplay in way. Not because of 3d fight engine, but because of the lag. It screws up all the time. At least on my end anyway.
But it still is usefull.
Sorry Trax, no links for you. Check your local gaming store for a used one. Madcatz stopped production on them and are a rare find. I have a few if you would like for $49.99 plus shipping.

Anyhow, back on his subject. Good info I suppose if you use this stuff. I am just not one who uses these.

Bobby uses a PG controller?
I'm surprised nobody tried this for MKD Dairou with the TS, then again in that game nobody could buffer faster TS them on on xbox programmable or not
Personally, I'm against PG controllers but it's better then KAK or MOB lol.

I'm not sure what games you could actually use programmable controllers for. I definitely prefer my manual controllers for MKA at least. If I programmed the moves into one button push, it would take away the fun. I like being in totally control.
----------------
@ MKF: Yeah dude! I'm good. You still play MKA? It'd be nice to see your game again. I haven't played you in months.

Actually, the programmable controller works WONDERS in MKD. The gameplay isnt as screwed online and you can really play with the commands.
You could program TS Drop all day. I would program f+1 and buffer it with another safe move. When ever I want the TS, I would tap down and the program button.
I started to play around with the programmable towards the end. Unblockable Noob Smoke combo after every smoke cloud at the press of a button.
But yea, you still need to be able to set up and you have to know how to use the character.
Programmable or not, Sindel, Kai and co. are low teir characters that require defensive skill and a sick 50/50 mind game to be competitive.
Onto Sareena.....
Offline I can do 5 hit knife grabs easily.
Her knives take up 4 or 5 frames total.
B{F2}++B{F2}++B{F2}
Thats three machine gun knives offline. Computer on max cant do anything about it. As they juggle my opponent I can just mash throw button and if I want to.
So I buffer her knife throw like this......
B{F2}1CSB{F2}1CSB{F2}
Again three perfectly timed knives....the difference is if one of them whiff because I was moving around to fast, her first stance branch combo 1,2,CS will automatically come out instead.
THE PROBLEM IS....offline this DOESNT WORK for my connection vs 90% of the people.....SOOOOO I have to "Stretch" the programming.
I dont know why other than the lag....I have to add 1 or 2 spaces in between the knives and they come out MUCH slower.
So EVEN WHEN I DONT USE THE CONTROLLER, my connection will not allow her knives to come out as fast.
Thats why I told Bobby, what he does is lag. Offline I can gun knives without the prgrammable, online I get nothing.
For those that dont understand, I can see this being unethical....but think about it. I understand this game. I know how to play it. Programmable doesnt play the offensive mind games for me. Sindel is all Atari. What can I program with her anyway????? HER FOOT GRAB??? lol.

I see what you are saying trax....
But with the programmable, I learn alot.... I leanred about lag and how it is truely affecting the gameplay.
Why would I still whiff Ermacs teleslam??? Think about it. Before I started using one, I always thought I didnt press the right buttons.....WRONG.
MKA is so screwed online, in certian situations the commands dont register.
Its a fact. Thats why I started to buffer the commands with "if then" statements. Ever take a logic course?
In a way, I get more fustrated with my connection, because the lag is actually confrimed, so I began to do things that are very un-Atarish. Like leaving early. I apologize to those I do that to, but Im just mad about the conneciton and MKA in general, not at you directly.
Its still fun to play....but not when Im actullay tring to win, I can be really competitive at times. Thats just me.

Yeah, I'm thinking this topic should have a sub-topic...
Who thinks Programmable Controllers are legit?
I mean, I experience lag bullshit, trust me. But I don't think that's an excuse to use a Programmable Controller.
I think it's illegit.

Programmable Controllers ?
OK.... when ever I get on XBL again, I'll be sure to put my gameshark in for hyper speed, infinite health, and 1 hit kills.
I mean... its legit right ... just like one button TS drops!?
Hahaha, doofus.
Man, somebody close this shit.
