I am 200% sure that they will not kill off scorpion and sub zero. The reason is that i remember watching ed boon talk and he said we will not have a mortal kombat game if sub zero and scropion are not in it. So yea.

The orginal who has died for good is probably Shang Tsung. In Liu Kang's bio it said he was destroyed by Raiden's blast releasing all his trapped souls, including Liu. Sadly that sounds like Shang's purpose to exist is over.

I don't see why they think up who from MK4 should return... Then have them be cut. They've screwed this stuff up pretty bad when it comes to these things. Also, if they're gonna bring someone from MK4 it'd be awesome to have Reiko, or Shinnok.

Blaze actually did make his first appearance in MK2..
In MKDA, his story states that he was ambushed on a bridge and was forced to protect the Dragon King's egg. They based this on a character seen in the background of the pit 2 that's on fire... Check this out:
