Why on earth do these stage fatalities, say for the first round allow the fight to carry on? If a player gets impaled on a spike then they're dead! It shouldn't go onto round 2!!!
If a player gets blended up into mush, how can the fight magically continue?
It's not what I was hoping for.

yeah, it does kinda suck on how unrealistic that is. (not forgetting that this is of course a video game.
) but i won't give up hope. they still have time to change it in the coming months.

Those deathtraps probably will unbalance the whole game, from what I saw (The matchvideos ect.)
Some of these Deathtraps are easy to step in (or better say kick/juggle in.
I have a bad feeling that on high level gaming one good juggle can kick you into a trap and thats it..
Another thing that I saw, the juggles look very easy and do great damage, I dont like the fact that the game will be a juggle/deathtrap fest.
But perhaps I am wrong and those deathtraps are easy to avoid if you play right, we will see.

Ya, I see the purpose. It's the equivalent of a ring-out, say in soul calibur. But ya, it should have stayed as an ultimate finisher, not a magical comeback. Then again, what about MK since MK2 has been shockingly violent and psuedo-realistic. I mean, just in my opinion, so no sense in flaming me, MKDA and MKD look like bloody fighting Barbies with MK costumes. The MK team has a undying fascination with making a fighting game with big boinky weapons, gigantic fat non stain-leaving blood drops and pink popcorn for every fatality. If that's what they want to do, yup that's their choice. And thanx to the rediculous sales of the first goofy fighter with blood, MKDA, they will continue this tradition. Besides, Tekken 5 was just announced. A new Soul Calibur is on it's way. And Doom 3 will give us all that realistic gore that Boon says no one likes or will pay for. I place a black rose on the grave of MK for it is dead and has been reborn on the toyshelf in Wal-mart with accessories for sunglasses and hair extensions and even a MK car for your new dolls to ride in. LOL. This is surely an exaggeration for all you kids that will read this post and say "huh-uh, Mortal Kombat is SOOOOO uber kewl and Nightwolf's fatality is the bomb-diggity" and decide they must flame me for my negative attitude towards the new doll-fighter Deception. But hey, you know what they say, sticks and stones.

Dude, chill. Its just a game.
Every message board I go to, I am constantly reminded how some people can get so worked up over a game. Its quit funny realy.
I also would not be surprised if this guy came back and said something like this," you missed spelled a word, learn to spell,"or,"thats incorrect grammer, take some English classes." Well he might not, but again I wouldn't be surprised.

AH!HA! I told you! He did correct my spelling. J/k man. I see your point, but people realy do get angry and are at each other over a game, it is quitE(LOL) childish, and funny at the same time. Then they bash each other, i.e. what I said about the grammer and the spelling, until one of them gives or sees how pointless it is to continue.
Anyway, you are entitled to your opinion, and your opinion I shall respect.

Some of you guys are looking at it wrong. If it ended the entire match, do you know how unfun and lame that would be? I win round 1, almost all of round 2 and you win the match instantly? It would be more realistic but would hurt the game drastically, just be cause it is more realistic doesn't mean it's best for gameplay. I am more than willing to make that sacrifice. Besides, they are making the game more interesting by adding death traps. MK is trying to be innovative with deathtraps. They are very different than ring-outs if you ask me. Some are in the middle of the stage, not always at the edges, it will really change the way people play fighting games (at least this one). At least MK is trying something new unlike all the other fighters out there. Sure, DOA ultimate looks pretty good from the videos, but nothing new or revolutionary? Come on. MK is trying to make that step that changes fighting games, and I love them for that. And, with the option to turn Death Traps off in the option menu, what more can you ask for? The more options, the better. So, Boon & CO if you're reading this, keep it like it is. And, make sure Jax stays and release some pics of Sektor and Kabal soon will you, please? Or just mail me a demo :)
My intention is definitely not to make anything personal out of my comments. I just like a bunch of other people on here, are not totally swept over by Mk's new look or it's lacking realism. (DO not complain to me about realism, I've alreaded stated my case on the definition of realism in video games in a previous post). I just think that with todays technology, we could have a much more awesome game than what is put out before us now. Does MKD have potential in my opinion? Not really. And this is why. This is the game that MKDA should have been in the very first place. Pulling people's arms off and beating them with it is more humorous than it is shocking or violent. And it was the shock value coupled with the fun fighting in MK2 that made it the historic title it was. Again, only my opinion. I personally dream of a new MK where the characters are carefully and skillfully mapped from scanned live actors. Where the moves are motion captured from true martial artists lending more realism to the fighting. And where fatalities are not the main attraction, but the shocking and gruesome reward for a match well fought. If you take a little time to watch the fatal videos that have been released, you will see that most of them are VERY quick, and end with exploding bodies in a somewhat-humorous way. It's kinda like a funny quip from an actor during a serious moment to break the tension and mood. I dream of the weapons being wielded in a serious and true-to-form manner. Leaving cuts and gashes with every slice of the blade. The blood from wounds recieved soaking the clothing of the fighters and staining their skin. And fatalities that have no specific number per character and no possible prediction of the sickness that would ensue and the disturbing, yet satisfying feeling you would get from pulling one off. They don't have to be so dramatic as they are. Simply have Scorpion slash his opponent across the chest and it peel open the chest cavity and stomach, spilling out splashing blood and uncoiling intestines all sized in proportion and then the victim falling helplessly to the floor very slowly as he realizes the devastation that has been done to him and the pain showing on his face, or even animated on it. I know this is a long-winded post but if you've read it. I hope you see what I see that I wish we could all see in Mortal Kombat. I'm also not saying that noone should enjoy MKD because it is not what I described. I am simply saying put your imagination into what you dream to play and then relate that to the companies who are the dream-makers. The recent announcement of the newest Zelda for Gamecube is a testament to what the fans get when they really express their wants and their dislikes for their favorite games. Simply settling for and praising a sub-par idea of a game will only wield similar results. We are the initiators and sole purpose of game creators. We are why games are made. And that, all my fellow MK fans, is what my main point is. Unfortunately, not many nay sayers of MK can express, in a mature and intelligent manner, their dissapointements because too many of us are there to whip out the next, "Your wrong, you suck" statement. Hear each other out and respond in a friendly way.

Adjun:
I realize everyone has a right to their opinion and I think that's great. I'm not totally disagreeing with you, just on some points. I personally couldn't be happier with Mortal Kombat Deception so far. Honestly, I think MK: Deception is just what you described the new Zelda to be, a game made because the fans spoke out. I love the way they're going with fatalities, I love the roster, and I simply love everything about it. That's just my opinion as well. And by the way, in reply to that mature comment, I agree whole-heartedly. I wish more people on here would act more mature. But, what can ya do? :)
MK Forever.

It's all good man. I know what you mean. I honestly hope that this game ends up proving me wrong. We haven't seen but an 8th of what it promises to offer and my favorite fatality so far is the spike pit. Watch how Nightwolf tries to pry himself off of it. Those are the small details that I hope continue to show up as the game progresses. Perhaps the acid bath will have them dip in and out or even try to crawl out while their skin is meltin off. I know that MK is not all fatality and nothing else, but it is the only fighting game so far to offer that as an option. I really hope that there are not many characters that have babalities as a fatality like Boon hinted at. That, to me, is just a rediculous and unesessary addition to a game like this. And ring outs are not unfair. Play Soul Calibur and you'll soon realize that it just keeps the tension and excitment at an always high level. You get that chill up your spine when you ALMOST fall off the ledge or when your thrown 20 feet in the air and you know your ass has been had because YOUR GOING OFF. LOL. Maybe it won't feel that bad at all and just be fun, but we'll see. I'm definitely gonna play it to see for myself. I just hope that it doesn't fall short like MKDA.
