The minute I brought up that vid of one of DA's members quitting, they jumped straight on JTF. WTF? One of your homeboys quit for one of the silliest of reasons, yet you sit there and defend him? Anyone on the NTSC side would've lost all respect for someone quitting for such a reason, not sit there and play "defend the one at fault".

That's why everyone over on the NTSC servers began to lose respect for DA, and are being called pathetic. They defended a quitter just because they don't like the person who capped someone quitting. I would expect a scrub to do that. Plain and simple.

Most of you guys have nothing better to do. Go to your respective town centers and create meaningful petitions. All these we're gone, we're staying, you suck, I rock, you're a scrub, I'm a super high level player are all waste of your fricken time. I see this is turning into a PAL v NTSC battle. The stupid part is that over 98% of you guys have never crossed over to other regions. As someone mention earlier - I think the problem is the fact that Midway failed you all by not giving you a meaningful game to play. Once that gets addressed, most of you will be engaged again for a while. But sadly I think this will continue till that happens.

on topic, im kinda of not surprised that GD was the only mod to post in this thread. i get why crow would be busy but what are the other mods like Jerrod in particular doing? shouldnt there be some kind of discussion to fix this problem? or are we too busy in our extreamly busy lives to bother w/ members of MKO? if so why are they mods? if they cant find the time to discuss problems w/ the members?

But I hand it to JTF for making those moves. That pretty much secured the users. What has happened is MKAC is no longer owned by one person. It has become everyone's property because they feel consulted on matters relating to the site. Like a company that everyone has a stake and that's a good thing.

If MKO is to be around for MK8, I think they should atleast find some 'high level players' to be people with power, mods, "shadow priests" or whatever you want to call it. From the look of it, the only people that are really doing anything for this site, is the members.

Check posts insane combos, Bone recorded fights, and so on. Yet there's only 2 real mods that actually plays or has played this game, and that I can say I have respect for, and that's Dan and GhostDragon, and I think Predator maybe, but I don't remember..but anyways they earned their spots, what about the others? Like Check and Bone. Why aren't they getting credit? Are they mods now? Nahhhh...they're just "Mortals", or "Warriors". Come on...let's be logical about this for a minute.

Game wise who has done more for the community than Check? I mean, he's busy, and he might just not have the time to be a mod, (Actually, I don't know if he's even been offered a spot..) but still, he makes time to come on here, go to the help section, and everything while putting up videos...

Basically what I'm saying, is that the mods should really be switched to people that actually played the game.

I’m not all too familiar of any online forum mandate that says that any form dedicated to a game w/ a mature rating should allow it’s users to flame each other with impunity. Maybe I and the owners of this site have missed the memo from the Online Forums Council of America, LLC but I’m pretty much sure that such an online “right” doesn’t exist.

It’s more of a “privilege” than a right, when it pertains to a privately owned site. And given that flaming has never been nor will be (in my estimation) a privilege, hoping and lobbying that it will be either in general or via a separate “flaming forum” (in case that’s the alternative proposal some are thinking of) is pretty much a fruitless endeavor. It may be something that MKAC has but it won’t be here.

When language is concerned, I don’t see much of a problem where we’ve curtailed the moderate use of it, as long as people don’t go batshit crazy in the overuse use of it. Damn. I’ve already reached my ‘language quota’ for this post. Shit! Well fuck, I guess that’s my limit.

Though, you claim that we’ve catered to “kids”. Interesting you say that when some users act like kids when they can’t seem to restrain themselves whenever an argument gets out of hand. As yes, I can feel the maturity and ebbing from some people when this occurs. You’d give Crow a pass but leave the other Mods out in the cold, as if they themselves don’t have school/work themselves that would certainly hinder them from popping in and out of most threads on the various forums? C’mon, now. That’s quite unfair. Some are more noticeable than others, but that in no way means that they are intentionally inactive. And whether they are ‘avid gamers’ or not is irrelevant. That should not be a pre-requisite for any moderator and to believe that it should is really lacking perspective of both the divergent interests of the membership and really the overall nature of the site.

Yes, MKO is for avid fans of Mortal Kombat, yet there are those who are regulars who only have a casual interest, yet contribute regularly wherever they feel comfortable contributing. Though, MKO is apart of our lives, it simply can never dominate it. We all do our work here with the time that we have to devote to the site. However, our priorities away from MKO come first.

I mean, if you’re less than sanguine about some moderators not having the same interests as you, don’t relate to you, don’t shop at the same stores, don’t watch the same movies or whatever to where you can feel some amount of comradery with them, well I‘m sorry. We all can’t be you best friends to the extent that we’re going out every Friday night and crashing on your couch till Saturday morning. Now I say that w/ some jest, but you know what I mean. All of us Moderators have varying interests and personalities that I feel reflects how divergent the MKO’s membership is.

From what I’ve read, that appears to be what MKAC provides to a larger extent. Okay, that’s fine. More power to the site if that’s what you feel suits you. But don’t try to assert that should be a template of how current and future mods should be.
