but like i said before, you, crow, mkkitana & pinky (when she was here) actually were and are still aprat of the comunity and post, while the others its rare to see them post w/ us, unless their warning folks/banning or skulling.

its kinda like chilling w/ your friends then having your mom pop up and give you a spanking.

i get having a life and such that isnt my issue. my issue is why did some of them disappear from posting and associating w/ the members on the site? get to know some of the folks your in charge to keep in check.



who said they have to be gamers? i dont care if they play video games or not. i think all we want is some kind interaction, other then "kids stop being bad. skull skull ban ban". it just makes them look like assholes. when a member has a question and pm a mod, shouldnt they get a response? atleast w/ in a day. if they are too busy in their real lifes to help the user, then why are they a mod?


back in the day when ever a mod shadow ban a user, that mod would take the time (about 1 min) and say hi i had to shadow ban your sig because ______ & _____, if you fix that pm me back and ill lift the ban.

now if we get shadow banned we have to PM crow and ask "who shadow banned me and why?" I SHOULD ALREADY know this, but instead i have to bother a mod that didnt even put the shadow ban on me.

i dont know, maybe i dont know shit. i just hate watching members i like and enjoy chatting w/ on the site disappear every day and no one really giving a shit.

im not sure what the problem is with the mods and why people feel its their fault. the site has been dead for a while now. even through mka it was dead. it has been the same few people here for months now. holding it together. keeping cool.

in other words, there wasnt even much work for the mods to do.

you want to complain about threads and such, trust me, ive been there, i know how it feels. you end up blaming Crow and the site etc, then eventually you start to care less about it to the point where you just deal with it and how it is.

^^ thats where im at now, so my advice to all of you is

Deal with it.

for the record on a few things i read.

1) i would gladly be a mod here. ive put it out there in the past for the same reasons that everyone else would want me as one. i never got it. no big deal. i continued to do all the things i did before. i didnt let it effect me or my time here. anytime ive left here since then was because of members, not mods.

anyway, i think the mods here are fine, and are knowledgable enough of the people who play and what its all about. if not, they have members like me and you who will let them know whats up. and if nothing happens then just patient and either it will or wont. it shouldnt effect your stay here though.

2) danadbab would make a great mod here. he's been here almost as long as me, possibly longer. ( 6 months before MKDA?) i remember him, versatile, ghostdragon, malone, mr s, konqrr. MKL. all of them back then. they all basically ran DA till MKD came out. and did a GOOD JOB. they might as well have been mods. Ghostdragon is a GREAT mod. theres no need for anymore mods unless he admits he needs help. again, theres only so much he can do. talk to crow. he is a great man. and if what you are preaching is for the better, he will listen. unless theres nothing he can do about it.

3) PAL vs USA - enough of this, theres less then 10 people left on the ps2 forum, you need to learn to stick together as a community. you cant shut someone out who is trying to help build on that. ( JTFKobra ) regardless of the past. its not about "people change" its about level headedness and mutual respect. its a very small factor anyway that the site is his. the most important factor is the community he provides. which easily outweighs the negatives, so be happy for him. youre here, hes there. no need to start worrying about it because mk8 will bring in a new breed of people on both sites 9, 10. etc.. theres no need to start worrying about it now. ps2 should be worried about the 10 or so people it has left , not the 3 or 4 extra people exclusive to each site. as of now, its meaningless, like i said, mk8 will bring in tons of new heads.

4) Things that mods should improve on

1) the amount of time it takes to get back to you
2) the amount of time it takes to do something
3) to be more active in posting ( optional )
4) be a little more assertive and take more notice into things ( read 3 )

at a site that you are a mod, most likely they will tell you to respond to every post. watch it as close as possible, and let an adminstrator know whats going on.

i think these are all things that at the moment arent a big deal. and makes no sense to make a thread about it seeing how dead it is already

however

as dead as it is already, if a thread gets made, and its off topic. let it stay. but if the person continues to make threads doing the same thing, then cut him/her off and tell them to stop.

theres no point in making so many off topic threads, the general discussion thread we have now is where this thread should continue being discussed. theres no point in having too many anyway. you shouldnt be coming here for anything but mortal kombat. god knows its all i do. and care about. this whole mod business etc doesnt concern me. i will keep posting my combo videos and do what i do. and nothing will change.

my advice to people is, dont feel the need to post threads or make a scene etc just because its dead. let it sleep. 9 months MK8 will be out and MK Air Cancel Central will need a name change, lol.

As for MKO - This is site has gone wrong. Hopefully, with time (meaning MK8) this site will improve, give all the gamers who are avid MK players the right platform to have a good discussion over serius tactics.

Thanks GD for coming to my defense when I couldn’t.
I check out the site every few days in between papers or classes and spending time with friends and family, and find a thread directed at me for killing MKO. First surprise I have had in a while. The site's been dead for months, and all of a sudden, I'm the scapegoat for closing one thread in this forum and for closing another thread BOOYA made when he got mad that hi thread was moved? I guess I should go die in a corner then, while wallowing in the flaming bags of crap I expect to receive from BOOYA and kraziebonethug. [/sarcasm]
Seriously, I haven't been active in months, and all of a sudden, when I start actually doing what I've always done, MKO being a Ghost Town is pinned on me? I don't know if you guys realized this, but the past few MK games have not been great and the appeal for MKA died down months ago. This is a continuous cycle on the site, and if any of you have been here long enough to know, it always happens in between games that the amount of users diminishes; no single person is responsible for that.
The irony is that I rarely moderate the online forums, and it seems that I'm the most hated by the online user (despite there really only being anything said by krazie and BOOYA in this thread, although it’s possible I missed a comment or two from other users). There was a time when I did focus on the site a lot more (even the Online forums), and there was a time I was the most active moderator on MKO, spending hours on end at my computer fixing threads, posting in the forums, giving infractions, writing fan-fictions for the Fan Art forum, heck, at one time, I even got my fiancée to join MKO (ex now, and we’ll not touch that one), but given how much time and energy it takes, I can’t anymore. I have mid-terms, and I have grades to keep up, so obviously, MKO is taking a backseat. I don't know anybody here anymore, and I'm not familiar with everybody's styles either, aside from users who've been here almost as long as me (5 years as of this October). In fact, most of the users that I've known and became friends with either left, or were banned a long time ago; the site has changed a lot since I joined.
I don't have much time to be an active mod because of school, a girlfriend, a family, a play I need to learn some lines for, and a more-active social life than I had when I first became a mod, and considering I have to keep my grades up in order to be sure I can continue in my schooling, there’s no way I can keep up with everything MKO related. It's really that simple, so I do what I can, namely the stuff that I've always done; editing quote boxes and thread titles, shadow bans (always with messages sent to the users stating why), moving threads, warnings when I see outright flames, and responding to any IMs I get. I always respond to IMs, and personally, I'm surprised that all of this has even come up, namely since I haven't received a single message from anyone concerning my mod style. If you guys have some kind of problem with it, by all means, share it with someone who can actually do something about it (namely myself, or a higher-up, like Crow); however, expecting me to do something about it when I don't know what the problem is doesn't help anyone.
Another thing I’d like to mention is that there really is not much for me to do around here anymore either, as Check already said, the place is dead. The only new threads that pop up are either drawings, random MK game-related questions, the latest news on anything in the world, and ones that involve people trying to “revive” the place, but there’s really nothing anybody can do about it.
I have no real reason to post in the online forums because I have a GameCube, so obviously I don’t play online (makes me wonder how Goro and Shao Kahn would fair in MKD online play, but I remember some videos posted by Check that showed some combos for them in action, namely Goro’s). In case you haven’t noticed I spend the most time with the Fan Art forum, as that seems to be the only one that has huge problems that I can handle (bumping threads by newbies, spam, etc.).
Should I be a more active member of MKO? Damn-straight, I used to be really active, mostly before any of you guys even joined MKO, but times have changed, and it’s impossible for me to be active now. If Crow or any other administrator thinks that I deserve to be demoted for my inactivity, then it is their choice, and it will happen; but until then, I’ll do what I can to make the community better for everyone. I can’t cater to everybody’s needs, as everybody has different ideas as to what the site needs. This is the best I can do, and if you don’t like it, well, make a complaint to an Administrator, if you really think that it is important that I (personally) be more active and less restrictive when it comes to following the rules that I’ve known since I first joined MKO.

Man Jerrod! That's a serious message you post there. I don't how this situation started but I don't think there's anything to worry about. The place is dead because there isn't much going in the world of MK and that being the main common factor amongst members, you take it out and you have the exact situation we have now. When and if MK8 brings that commonality back, there'd be less infighting and bitching going around.

I have to say this though, a lot of users show very little maturity when it comes to online conduct or general attitude toward others. Half of us have little understanding of what we have to give and what it takes to earn respect of others. I bring the whole situation down to lack of 'respect' and most of us are guilty of that but some more than others.

You know I really don’t have any problems w/ the mods of this site so I shouldn’t even be posting in this thread anymore.


Im just sick of having to go to multiple sites just to chat w/ folks I enjoy chatting w/, when at one point or another they use to post here. Quite frankly I become to lazy to do that and I just end up never chatting w/ them again.

The NFL season is in its off season however twobillsdrive is just as busy now as it is during the season.


People still play MK2, UMK3 & MKA, stop blaming MK “being dead” for the site being dead.

Even MKD gets thrown around here and there.

@ jerrod - you see the problem here is that there are indeed ppl who play mka and post , the fact that they are being ignored sucks really bad . everybody is equal .

thus the reason we are posting somewere else , were there is active mod's . mods who will help .

at that all i have to say is , good luck to mko , i dont hate the site , ive posted here for a while and enjoyed it . ive grown to it .
