Just wondering how they propose to settle this

Is Midway willing to concede that Darkseid (or some other DC villain) is more of a threat than Shao Kahn, Onaga and Shinnok? Would DC let Darkseid take a backseat to he Midway villains? or are we going to end up with a potentially cruddy "made up" boss that has nothing to do with either universe?

Maybe an amalgam like Dark Kahn...or ShaoSeid or gasp...Abyss (Marvel vs Capcom 2 boss)

Just wondering what everyone wants to see...

I'll be happy as long as it isn't a useless boss like Onaga.

Well I was gonna make a thread on this....but decided not to.

At any rate, I can't wait to see who the boss is going to be.

Remember that there are 2 branching storylines? The DC storyline will probably have an MK boss (Onaga,Shao Khan, Blaze) and the MK storyline will probably have a DC boss (Bane, Darkseid, Doomsday)

Oy, if anything Bane is sub-boss material. I like the guy, and hope that he's in the game, but that guy isn't on the same level as Darkseid or Doomsday.

That said, I hope Darkseid will be a boss.

They may have a boss dependent on the character you pick so that if you pick an MK character you get an MK boss. Although, they could do the opposite and if you pick an MK characetr you get a DC boss and vice versa. This would demonstrate the crossover a bit better. They could just go the partnership route and have the bosses join forces or just an every boss for themself thing and you just fight a mixed bunch from both sides.

That is also a possibility. Imagine if the Elder Gods had something to do with it.

I was hoping the merger of the 2 universes would be explained by Blaze's destruction at the end of Armageddon. His destruction might have destroyed the surplus Kombatants and preserved a few to keep the balance, and in the process, sends a group of the ebings into the DCU...Either that, or perhaps Shao Kahn struck a deal with Darkseid...Just occurred to me that the universes are merged. That was Shao Kahn's thing, but I guess we'll wait and see.

Ed Boon said that they will somehow make everyone else stronger or superman weaker for a better balanced fight.

How about Sub bosses? Back when Deadly Alliance came out, Boon and company returned to MK's roots by including a sub-boss (after a noticeable lack of one in MK4), Moloch. uglier than dirt and twice as dumb, he was a return to an MK standard: The under-boss one must face before taking on the ultimate evil of the game. The combination of Noob Saibot and Smoke took on the part for Deception, whereas various past bosses took on the role of sub-boss to Blaze in Armageddon.

Now, we're faced with a new generation of MK..well a quasi-new generation of MK, and hopefully the return of the Sub boss. Considering we're getting 20-22 PLAYABLE characters, there is also the possibility that we'll also have unplayable bosses and Sub-bosses. Who would you want to see?

My list for sub bosses:

Kintaro--Armageddon didn't do him justice. Would love to see him again done right

Goro-Tradition, but he's had his time, I suppose

Motaro-- Perhaps as a quadruped this time?

Sinestro- After the Sinestro Corps, he'd make a fine sub-villain (if not an actual boss)

Doomsday--a nice, powerhouse

Grodd--Brain and brawn with at least one power

Solomon Grundy--a virtual juggernaut

Parasite--A guy who can steal other characters' powers. Could prove to be a challenge for everyone involved.

Would be nice if all mentioned could be in, but rotated from play to plat, but that's unlikely, so, who would you want to see?

And it's not like those kinds of logics haven't existed for decades in the MK franchise. It's all about suspending disbelief for the mechanics of a game; Raiden, Sub-Zero, Shinnok... Lots of characters could end their matches in an instant!

Darkseid is the kind of scale I think a major DC villain would need.
Doomsday, like a lot of popular choices, has very little scope or relevance in interdimensional conflict, and really hasn't been noteworthy for fifteen years.

I kinda like the idea of a character unique to the game, but typically those kinds of characters don't get the necessary development to properly sell them. So some sort of meeting, clash, or overlapping of characters like Shao Kahn and Darkseid, whose machinations readily facilitate interdimensional agendas, make more sense.

I'm thinking the last boss wil be The One Being. We'll prob have two different sub bosses as well - one from each universe.

I shudder to think that one of these days someone might be right when they guess at that. The One Being is a concept intrinsic to the world of Mortal Kombat, so the chances of it being explored with a licensed property are probably pretty slim.

Add that to the already slim odds of the One Being ever manifesting as an individual character, and you're running low on luck.

GRANNY GOODNESS!!!!

OK jokes aside, I think they should just make a new boss for the game.

I figure they'll either do a combo of Shao Kahn and Darkseid, sort of like they did Deadly Alliance OR they'll create a brand new uber-powerful boss that will pose a threat to both worlds sort of like what was done with the Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors crossover game.

The One Being could make sense. How else would MK characters Stop the Merger. DC characters could fight him to increase the merger.

Someday, somehow, people will realize exactly why the One Being cannot ever be a character or boss.

Very true. I suppose I hadn't thought of that was because of the original arcade translation failed to include a boss. And Shinnok didn't really act like a true boss.
