Of course after a while the brutality and animality rumors started to come out, wich was coming from different sources, but more lets say official ones. It was alos said there were 2 animality in MK2, wich suprised us all, but my guess always was it was ShangTsungs Kintaro mmorph and Lui Kangs dragon morph.

Actually, I really can't get into detail about it, but I can say that our source was afraid enough that if the company our source works for found out that information had gotten out without permission, then said person would end up most likely losing his or her job. Like I said, I don't like not being able to tell you people who it was that told us, but I'm under an obligation not to say. All I can say is that I know this person is a reliable source of information.

I stopped playing the game a long time ago. I'm just looking for a reason to pick it up again.
if the company doesn't even know this guy knows, HOW THE HELL WOULD HE GET INTO TROUBLE IF YOU TOLD ANYONE. DOES YOU SEE WHAT I'M GETTING AT? the company wouldn't know who to blame, cause they don't know he has it, if it's true what you said that he got it without permission. i WAS one of the guys who still believed in the "fs", but now i don't know.

This she-man person that is an excellent source could so easily log on here using any name and reveal the secret! That person will not get caught because of the anonomity of the situation.
If they can reveal that the secret is only a version code, and in no way enchances gameplay nor releases any new characters, arena's blah blah, then they can give the button combination for it as well because it is just a shitty secret!
All we want to know is if that is the secret 100%. The reliable source is only reliable to you DarqueBishop! not to us. We only rely on what we see, not hearsay!

Okay, I'll throw you guys these two bones for now.
1) The source can't say who he/she is because his/her bosses know he/she uses this forum, and what username he/she uses.
2) The reason he/she never told us the button sequence is pretty simple: he/she doesn't remember it. It was such a lame secret that he/she didn't feel it was worth remembering how to do it.
Here's something for you guys who are saying we're just lying and BS'ing you to think about: if we were REALLY going to lie and say we know what the final secret is because of what some source we made up "said", don't you think we'd come up with something better than a version code? I mean... like our source said, it's a lame secret! The development team also never said it was a grand or big thing, like it there was a FINAL SECRET that would make the entire game worthwhile. They just said there was only one thing in the game that they could think of that the fans hadn't found yet.
Okay, I'll try and do this for you guys. I'll see if I can get Ed to confirm that this is the final secret, complete with the move sequence. If he does confirm, I will post it either here or in the news. No guarantees, though, as from what I understand development on MK6 may be ramping up and he may not have time to answer.
Hope this helps...

But, I know Ray should know a little bit more... I guess he plays the game a lot.
p.s. i am currently drunk, and what i am saying may not be my true feelings. i just got back from a party.
I was thinking IF this is the final secret, there are two senarios...
ONE:
Maybe they found a couple of bugs that they thought should be fixed AFTER they started duplication - in which case a new master disc might have been swapped into the duplication process.
But I can't see that being the case considering making changes to the code would require a little time and then you'd need time to test as well. How long could the actual disc duplication process take? Three or four days at most? I doubt there would be enough time to swap masters.
TWO:
They started with multiple masters (Probably two or three at most) which were made side by side each getting it's own unique secret (like a different character or arena) OR a unique key press sequence to acess the SAME secret (being something like a char/arena). Which would be a cool idea because you'd get some people claiming they unlocked a secret, and other people with the same game (but different version) thinking they're full of shit because they cannot use the same code.
If this were the case, it would fit the "at least one more secret" quote on fight night in that the version code had not been found, but the subsequent secret has been found by some in the form of Moloch being playable (but not through the legitimate way... through a gameshark).

DAdamnfool Wrote: the game and the secret is officially bulls--t. a version code is not a secret, that's something the production company couldn't get out in time for the release. 4 years passed and this is what we have, that's just lazy, and to keep saying we were rushed is bs. mk II took a year and a half, and it's better than this. i am so pissed that i bought this game. |
Just a couple of points to add in here...
1) MK:DA was also developed in a year and a half. Remember, the MK development team created The Grid for arcades in-between MK4 and MK:DA.
2) I won't go into the whole "debugging programs is hard and time-consuming" argument, but on a related note: please keep in mind that MKII was developed to run on a single set of dedicated proprietary hardware, so they really only had to code it for one platform. For MK:DA, however, they had to code it for three completely different hardware platforms, and make it as identical as possible on each one. Even with extra people on the team, I can't see that as being anything other than much harder than working with one set of hardware specs.

DAdamnfool Wrote: ok D'Arque Bishop, what's with them holding back part of the game, i mean we did pay for that too. they seem to have an excuse for everything, why not tell if there is one. this is crazy for them to fire someone if they tell, that sounds like another excuse to protect the fact that there is none. if there is none, then say so, don't pull chains. this version code sounds like a mistake or a bug, not a secret, if it is a bug they couldn't get out then that is pathetic for them to dress it up like a secret. |
If it's a bug or mistake, then it's a bug or mistake in that they left it in after QA testing. As far as why they don't release the version code, well... since when has the MK development team (or anyone at Midway) come right out and reveal a secret? I can't remember them ever having done so.
Part of the issue is that you need to understand that Midway tends to be VERY protective of their secrets and property. I don't know if you were around for our coverage of E3 last year, but we made a point of mentioning that Midway was the ONLY company there that would not allow filming of their booth. In fact, during the somewhat covert filming we did, one of their floor guys literally told ]0MBAT that if they found him filming again, they'd confiscate his video camera. That's how bad it was. Coming from that perspective, it's not hard to see that Midway wouldn't exactly be willing to come right out and say what the secret it.
Don't get me wrong... I don't really like the situation any more than you guys do. That's why I emailed Ed asking if he could give any kind of confirmation. (Though, being a weekend, I don't expect any kind of reply until tomorrow at the very earliest, if at all.) All I'm saying is that I can see how the environment there can lead to such secrets being held back.
Just my $.02...
they revealed that noob was going to be a secret character in mk4.

i remember you made the news update about it from a normal poster here in the mk5.org community. no proof. no nothing. just an update to get hits. now you're protecting it to keep credibility. just give it up and i suggest everyone else does too. even boon saying it exists means nothing. you promote his games and he likes people to keep guessing. until i see how to actually do it, i'll keep dismissing it. it's a lame secret to begin with but even lamer of how many excuses i've seen why we can't be told how to do it.
