Sonya was garbage in MK1. The infinite sweep does NOT make you a good character. Not to mention she's boring. Her projectile was just a projectile, nothin special, and here leg grab was slow and invited pain. Her square punch was good, but other than that, I'd have taken just about anybody but Johnny Cage over her, and maybe Kano due to his rediculous contol style.

Mileena was pretty awesome in MK2, but I found myself having more trouble against Kitana players... maybe there was just more of them.

I don't mind the female characters, but never find myself wanting more of them. I don't use them that much because I don't find them intereting enough.

This whole guys are better than girls thing is just childish too. I mean, girls better than guys in martial arts? HAHAHA there's only one thing as funny than that, and that's guys better than girls in martial arts. It's not gender related, it always comes down to the person regardless of sex.

yes kitana is that damn good in mkda, u just lack the skill level,,hence that y the mk team came up w/ skill levels in mk da..every 1's top tiers in mkda have a low skill level needed to be good w/ that character like scorpion is a 2 sonya is a 1,meaning not that hard to be good w/.. on the other hand kitana was a 4 1 away from being a 5 which is the hardest to master..thats y people like ur self say kitana sucked. hopefully we can all prove ourselves wrong when we play online!!!!

Well, I assume you all know my opinion. The female characters are simply the best there are. None of the male characters are any where near as good. And that goes for all of the MK games.
Despite what you say, Tanya was easily one of the best in MK4 and Li Mei was cool in MK:DA. Mileena and Kitana are simply the best characters to come out of the MK series.
I think the fewer numbers makes them more special and it's easier for me to select a lady to kick the shite out of any of the males, so i don't mind the low ratio.
I think some of the male characters are cool, but on the whole, the ladies look and play alot better.

Of course Deception needs more female fighters. They're almost always the ones I pick first and become good with. It's always been that way for me since I started playing fighting games.

And Sonya was superior to Kitana in nearly everyway in Deadly Alliance and that's mainly due to the fact that she had Tae Kwan Do, which is one of the top three styles of that game. At best Kitana is maybe middle of the lower tier and she's not there because people aren't good with her so much as that she's just not a good playing character. DA was/is a terribly unbalanced game and a lot of characters including my favorite, Li Mei, suffered because of it.

All of the females in DA were very not good gameplay wise with the exception of Sonya. Skill level has nothing to do with it. The game is very unbalanced, that's why.

To go back on subjet, I really don't care how many females are in Deception as long as they are cool.

i think that it should have sonya instead of sindel or li mei, but no more, why?
well as far as ive seen in this game boobs will bounce so that makes me think that mk is slowly turning into another doa, actually i would like to see womans with more clothes like sonya, and i know this is off topic but i would also like to see more american dudes.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I was in no way implying that the other females in the game, especially Kitana, sucked. Because she didn't suck at all. I just thought Sonya was better, but then like you said it's all a matter of opinion. Don't worry I got love for Kitana too.

You should really stop assuming and saying that all people who say Kitana sucks game play-wise is because they don’t know how to play with her, because you are very wrong.

I can easily kick butt with Kitana in MKDA, VS computer and some friends, I have mastered her styles. But in a real competition with high skilled players, Kitana stands no chance against Sonya or any other character besides Cyrax.

Anyone can play good with any character, but there are skill levels, advantages, power levels and disadvantages in every character making one better then the other.

Against a very skilled player who uses Scorpion or Sonya with high potential in battle, Kitana in all her might and glory stands no chance. That is a fact.

Kitana is good and fun to use, easy to win with agaisnt the computer mode in MAX difficulty, but when it comes to real battles, Kitana is the worst option.

No she wasn’t. Just because you think her concept character sucks does not mean gameplay wise she sucks. Funny how you talk about her specials as simple projectiles or simple moves when all the other characters are the same.

She even has some of the best and more original moves, the leg grab is the most powerful move in mk1 and in mk3, it was even more brutal then the uppercut damage.

BTW, Cage is actually second best in Mk1. No matter how much you dislike Sonya or females, it’s no reason to say they suck in game-play. Sonya has been top tier in all mks, and other females are also good.

She was the best in Mk1, thats a fact, not opinion.

Hmmmm, Im actually no fan of females. So far only sonya has been of my interest. Not only does she have potential for a new evolving story, she has also been the first chick of the games, and clearly, the most powerful.

Its that, I get this feeling of why add more females if they are going to suck bad?? At least add some power to these girls!

When people talk about females, sonya is the first character that comes to the mind, because of her power.

Actually, Sonya was one of the hardest characters to play against in one player in Mk1, and Jade was the same in MK3, IMO.

sonya was one of the best in mk1 and jade was really hard to beat. but the best in almost all the games is scorpion. being the favorite of the cocreator gibes him advantage and subzero that probably was the fav of Tobias.

I don't care how many females are in MK:Deception, as long as they're put there for a reason and not just because they're female. If MK:Deception has more females they should all be unique and not rip offs of previous characters.

Sonya- I never liked Sonya, i'm glad she's not in deception.

female fighters are good only if they look badass, mileena is a good example of this. i dont wont those swimsuits or any "girly" outfits. Nitara, Frost, Mileena and Sonya are perfect examples of great female figthers based on look. btw, LadyRaiden, you did see Sonya in a swimsuit (didnt u unlock all the extras in MKDA?) lol.

I agree with the guys at the start, The proportion of female fighters in a fighting game should be less than the males, otherwise we will be ending up with another dead or alive.
I’ve always liked playing as the females, because it intimidates the people that I’m fighting against.
An example in Street fighter you have all the Akuma lovers who think they own the game(no offence), and when I select chun-li against them ( they get this satisfying look of relief) but I end up tearing them apart with chun-li.
Sonya was pretty good in MK1 but was at a disadvantage against Goro in my opinion, I had to suffer many long horrifying close encounters with that sub-boss. It brings back a lot of good memories.
Back to the topic women fighters should be less than males, because that gives them a unique edge. The fighters so far in Deception look ok, it would be perfect if Sonya was with them but you cant have it all ( also I think lie mei looks ridiculous with that helmet)

actually kitana is a very boring defensive/couter attacking character,but this is what makes her deadly...you can have all ur offensive fun to play w/ characters like sonya,but offense can only get u so far..to quote sports "defense wins championships"..to say kitana is only good vs the computer and thats it, is just a joke..defense kills offense all the time!!! anything sonya can do kitana can couter it which makes her better!! its not an opinion its a fact....i love playing w/ sonya she awesome in mkda shes fun,offense is always fun to see and play..but like i said offense can only get u so far....!!!

For all you people saying that "we don't need this to be another Dead or Alive", you DO realize that Deception is only one female short of having the same size female roster as DOA3 right? And that's not even counting the potential hidden female characters number because Mr. Boon himself said the 24 number wasn't the grand total.

Sonya has defense too. Her Tae Kwan Do stance has wicked good recovery time which actually makes her a better defensive character than Kitana. Kitana really doesn't stand up to Sonya competitively, sad to say. Sonya is one of the most overpowered character in Deadly Alliance and Kitana is one of the most underpowered characters.
