after finally finding his soul [i think thats what he said he was looking for in his mk4 ending] he hears that raiden an the other warriors from earth needed help against the mighty dragon king. gripping the thunder staff raiden gave to him at one time before, he runs to aid raiden and the others, he finds earth in terrible danger with the new evil that has risen above them all. seeing that he entered a battle he'd most likely die in, he'd die fighting beside raiden and his friends...

I hated Kai, so hell no.

I would prefer Kai with his own weapon rather than Raidens, in Deadly Alliance Raiden was holding his staff so therefore Kai ending might have not happened.

I had seen a sketch of him before and I thought that looked cool I would see that as his basic outfit, I'm pretty sure most of you had seen it in the Krypt. His alternate outfit could have dreadlocks that are tied into a ponytail. Kai would have a bead necklace of teeth around his neck and his skin would have white powder in the form of tiger stripes. Kai would have 3 golden gauntlets around his wrists in ring style. Kai's pants would be animal fur in the form of a kilt and he would be bare footed.

Kai's weapon should be a poisonous bamboo spear with a red feather near the tip.

Kai's fighting styles would be Capiora where he does fighting in handstand style, this would be really good for pop up attacks along with powerful kicks. Kai's other style should be some type of fighting that they practice in African Tribes.

His story would involve him joining the Order Of Light in their quest to protect the Earth from the threats of the Outworld. Kai would have mastered his skills from when we last seen him. Kai would be the one responsible for bringing Liu Kang back from the dead with his Voodo spells but he is not too strong with his magic and Liu Kang's soul easily gets tainted by the Dragon King. Kai would travel with the Earth Warriors and Liu Kang who is possesed by the Dragon King. Little do they know that all of them are falling for a serious trap that may cost the lifes of Earth's protectors.

I liked Kai in MK4. But it's true his story sucked.
Although his ending sucked ti also gave alot of room for improvement and speculation.
If Kai was to come back I'd like to see him with alot longer hair. Maybe in a ponytail.His eyes glow blue. He would have blue pants with a gold sash around it. His boots would be black with gold shin gaurds. He would wear a blue vest with two tigers on the back, black and white in fighting in a yin-yang pose. He would also have a long scarf around his mouth. have . His arm gaurds would be black with gold plates and razors on the side with a blue gem on the wrist. His weapons would be a straight sword and a Soul Reaver like blade. Each one symbolizes good and evil. Kai may have become a gaurdian of the light and dark energies that flow within all living things. Needles to say this is his light costume. If he was the gaurdian this next one would be his dark costume. His hair would be undone from the ponytail and it would be a silver color.(Classic for dark characters) His eyes would turn blood red and he would have two scars going down each side of his face. He would wear black pants and half a shirt which covered his left side. On his right side he would where a black cape which drapes over his shoulder and down to his knees. His shin gaurds would have metal skulls at the knees and bones for the shins. His left arm has a black gauntlet on it with a red gem on his wrist. His guantlet has metal claws for fingers. He also has giant scars on his back and devil wings made of pure energy sticking out of his back. HIs skin would be a really deep blue tone, almost black.

His fatalitie:
Inner Struggle:
He sticks both of his swords into the opponent. The words fill each side with dark and light energy. Since these two cannot mix the tear the opponent to pieces any where they touch together.
Salvation and Damnation:
The jewel on his gauntlet,(red or blue) starts to glow. If the gem is red(dark costume) his curved blade start to glow. He takes it and slashes the air opening a door way to Hell. The gem on his wrist moves to his palm and shoots out a beam of evil energy at the opponent turning them to dust. Their soul is then grabbed by tenticles and draged into the scar that Kai made and into hell. If it glows blue(light costume)his fist starts to glow with a brimstone flame(blue and white). He hits the ground with his glowing fist shooting a wave of holly fire at the opponent. It consumes the corpse and it falls to the ground. Kai then takes out his straight sword and plunges it into the charred remaints of he opponent. A pillar of light then shoots out their chest and the soul is taken to the higher plane. Hence gaurdian of light and dark. His fighting styles would be Zi Quan,Sombo, dual swords, inner peace(self taught). His powers would include dark and light powers. He can have a holy blaze which is a white inferno that is launched at the opponent, and another would be a dark power called chaos ensnare. He uses his dark power to throw the opponent around the areana.

nice ideas smokenc, but i dont think they could make it so his outfit changes the fatality he uses, if they could, it would most likely require alot of work, but it does sound cool

I'd like Kai to return. Well really I'd like any of the past characters to return (except Mokap), as long as their story for returning makes sense...

if kai had a whole new look, a whole new and better story, better weapon, etc.. you know, a complete make over, he might be a really good character in mkd, i liked him, thought he was cool, but he did have flaws, eh, i dunno, i cant decide whether i'd like him back as a character or not, but appearing in konquest or in a level is fine

anyone else have any opinions on kai and think he should return or not? this cant be everyone, im sure alot of others like/dislike him

well they can be in it for me but not with his old moves.. his old apearance (with updates of course) can work.. I like the good/bad thingy above.. but not the fireball/staff/lightning at the top because those moves are already distributed among the MKD cast (Ashrah has that upward fireball (white) and nightwolf has the lightning.. don't know who will have the staff though..

I loved Kai. His fireballs were great to use and his look was sick. The handstand fighting, was useless and shouldn't have been his style. But if he had the lightning staff from his MK4 ending, and came back with another cool look for MKD I'd really like to see him.

Aside from Quan Chi, Kai is the only MK4 character I saw any potential in. The fireballs and gurkha knife were cool, and to update the handstand thing, caperoia should be one of his fighting styles. With maybe a Liu Kang type style as his other, Kai could be a very good character in the series. Maybe introduce him as a student/partner of Kung Lao.

kai is pretty cool, he'd be better if they made him with more detail, a better weapon, maybe a mace made entirely of light an dark energy mixed, and the combination of energies could make it spark or something... i would say sword, or rod/staff, but i hear some of you say those weapons have been used by almost everyone in MK, and yeah, swords seem to be pretty common... so maybe a spear or soemthin

Kai is the type of character that should only return in an MK Trilogy 2 type game.

For some reason I'm starting to see MK6&7 as Deception part 1&2. Because supposedly this game is taking place in Outworld, besides Konquest of course, so I think it would make sense that in MK7, the Dragon King's power and army overflows into the Earthrealm. In that case, that would bring back characters like Kai and Fujin, in a reasonable fashion.

Yes I would like to see Kai return, especially with the concept design shown in DA, and I assume that in MK7 we will see him. But not in Deception, as a playable character at least.

I really liked the concept art of Kai that was in MKDA.

I think that was a good look for him.

I agree he should use capoeira, and have a lot of combos. Lot's of cool looking extreme kicks.

The other style could be some shaolin form, like Tiger kung fu.

I'm also thinking Monkey Kung fu, but I'm not too sure.

His fireballs should be updated, so you can control them either like Sub's Ice shower, or like Kung Lao's hat in MK2.

That way they won't be so hard to connect with.

He should also have a lot of other fire related special moves, or even throws.

Like Flame thrower punch or something, I'm thinking something along the lines of Kyo from King of fighters.

Different moves, but the same idea, using his hands as flame throwers.

There's a ton of moves he could have.

Maybe instead of just throwing the fire from his hands, he could create the fire in the air, like he just raises his arm like Ermac, and a ball of fire forms above the opponent's head, then kai can point at the opponent with his open hand palm down and the fire ball will fall.

Same thing for the rising fireball, it would look a bit like Shang's skull eruption.

He could throw fireballs like this in any direction really.

You can call his power Pyrokinesis, like what the guy from PSI-OPS has.

He would have some pretty sick looking fights IMO.

Flashy and strong, that's what I like.

I would like to see him, but with new moves. I hated that he ahd all the Shang Tsung fire moves.
