However, Baraka's ending in MK4 was lame.

I'm going to go with that they have no place in this game.

I do agree that they kind of stick out like sore thumbs but.....

Jax was a shoe in for this game. The first black charctar in MK. Had what was regaurded as one of the greatest fatalities of all time(arm rip) and sonya's in the game(they're stories have become so intertwined that wherever you see sonya, jax is gonna be two steps behind).

Baraka is the one I can whre the gripes are coming from. Mileena fans are tearing his inclusion apart. Story wise his or mileenas inclusion would've left me scratching my head. Cage or Kung Lao would've been a much more suitable use of this spot.

Being "iconic" doesn't necessarily mean popular. I don't think many fans mind Jax and Baraka as opposed to being angry at them because they took up a slot.

Baraka to me is just a neat looking character without a shred of personality. And Jax, well, he's just the black guy that had to be in there for diversity.

yes i have her in my sig and proud of it, im a die hard mk fan since day 1 and she is my fav this isnt mk dude it's a crossover, iv waited 2 years i can wait another till the real mk8 comes out, this to me is like watching the pied piper play and the mice are following to there death, it was then and will always be boons dream he just choose the wrong crossover, and it will be a learnign exsp for him, and the real mk8 will rule.

Jax is great though. Which MK character would people have rather had in his spot? Rain? Ermac? Noob? Yay. Besides, Jax's character design is especially comic booky so he fits in well with the games theme.

We already have a Mileena in the game anyway. She's called Kitana. Granted I like Mileena more than Kitana, but there's really no need for the both of them to be in the game while a more unique character sits on the sidelines.

I agree with those who listed out Jax's strengths and how he has a deserving spot on the roster as an iconic character. Jax's new look is unique and I am looking forward to playing as him again. Hopefully, I'll be able to do Jax's multiple slam throw, that was my favorite move out of his movelist. I am however puzzled, I feel like Jax is taking over Johnny Cage's role as one of the main heroes. I don't think I've ever seen Jax interact with Johnny Cage once. It is like when Cage is not around Jax shows up and vise versa.

Baraka is a character that I had always liked but it never bothered me if he wasn't included in a Mortal Kombat game. I like his inclusion in this game but I'd much rather prefer Kung Lao or Goro to be in than Baraka. However, Baraka is a unique character and his inclusion creates a balance between heroes and villains.

The only reason I'm mad about Baraka is that there's no way a T rating can do his character justice. It's an insult to the senseless violence he stands for. What's his fatality gonna be, just a simple stab? That's fucking boring.

Im really glad baraka made the cut (so to speak) but I do really think Mileena is the one character that needed to be included, MkD proved she can stand on her own without Kitana and has far more character then her sis...

I don't think Baraka=violence. Baraka can be in a game without too much violence.

Thing with Jax is he's a very shallow character who hasn't had a significant role in the story since MK3. As far as Special Forces characters go, we already have Sonya and Jax doesn't really offer anything she doesn't. He is reasonably iconic, but I think he serves as sad proof that sometimes iconic characters are not always the most quality characters and sometimes they become icons for really shallow reasons. Most likely, Jax was included into this game for no more reason than he's MK's main black guy. All due respect, that's not a good reason.
I figured Jax would get in, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it.

As for Baraka, I honestly don't mind his being in the game. I kind of figured there was a chance they'd include some inhuman monster type of character who would act as a lower-level henchmen villain. I was counting on it being either Reptile, Baraka, or maybe even Goro for that. Personally, I would've leaned towards Reptile...but I have no real qualms with Baraka.
Only thing is, with Baraka's presence, I'm even more puzzled/disappointed by the inclusion of Kano. They're both one-dimensional, violent, henchmen villains who whore themselves to bigger evils. Baraka at least has a fairly unique look. So with him around....why do we need Kano in any way, shape, or form?

One thing I am looking forward to in regards Kano is him having to team up with Sonya against the Dc heads,

I would've prefered Kung Lao over Jax but I don't hate him. Nor do I love him. Jax is an OK character IMO. As for Baraka, he just kicks ass. I mean come on. Who doesnt like the thought of decaptitating Batman with a blade while he fools around with his little toy belt?
