BONE - Good to see another Kai user.


I would like your feedback on something....

D,F+1 into U+2 walk up free throw.....if there is lag, it would make the throw glitch. Offline works like a charm and leads to 50/50 with his high mid combo/pop up.
Tough to do online unless your in the corner, but very effective mind game.

Now, a few players get smart and do not block allowing U+2 to land....by doing so, they will escape the 50/50 set up HOWEVER you can take the full screen throw if U+2 lands.....nasty mind game.

outside of using deep kick into 50/50, I think this is his most confusing strategy.

If you can time it right, it gives Kai a 3rd deminsion to his game. You know, like hell fire/hand grab/tsd/puke puddle ect. Moves that force your opponent to jump away to avoid being hit.

THIS IS WHY I PUT KAI AHEAD OF DAEGON. But he still 2nd worst.

One more thing people dont do enough is spam U+2 followed by U+2, throw at a safe distance.

And spam back flips into U,D+2.

GROY - I feel you man. Easy Daegon is a beast. But did you read my statement about elite players? Its Easy's offensive technique that makes Daegon good.....just as good as his Kai Sindel Frost Shang. Deep kicks into a 50/50 is the BEAST, not the characters.

Alexies Daegon I dont remember. I remember using the low poke technique vs you and Easy. I beat your Daegon pretty bad, vs Easy I barely won....but it proves my point. You guys can kick my ass with anyone. But I can kick Daegon's ass by simply low poking him to death and waiting for B+2??? Daegon blows.

D+4 is a beast, but you remember MKD Sindel....even if it lands, your opponent has no recovery frames and can at least exchange damage right after. It looks good and fast, but its flawed once you figure it out.


Oh by the way, none of Daegons weapon stance hits mid. Try it out. Low block on one controller and attack with his weapon. They look like it, but they dont......and for Arcade, Im well aware of high mids BUT THAT IS ONLY AFTER THE INITIAL SET UP. Geeze.

^ its ok . but df2 doesnt hit mid or high mid for that matter . its a horrible move . try B2 its safe and the percent only gets minimized by about 2% . db2 has no real pryority besides it looking kool . B2 would be the same but its extremly safe .

after reading this thread a few things havd been re-affirmed to me. Atari is one of the most knowledgable peeps in the game. Wish you had a mic on when we played. The other thing is that Arcade is a total dipshit.

Atari brought up a great point. You dont really lose to the character you lose to the strategy of that player with the character. Take Fujin and Frost imo most peeps have no clue how to use them. I am very successful even against elites with them because I have a good strategy. When an elite picks scorp and I pick Fujin....believe it or not...but I have a damn good chance to win. Fujin has a great low poke game...a great mid game (if you know how to set it up), a great anti-air game. He has a few unbreakable combos. Fujin also has a teleport (miss the bullet kick purposely, only a few Fujins realize this move). plus the acutal bullet kick that lands is an awsome move. His little spin move is great for overly aggressive opponents. Fujin has some severe limitations, but he has ALOT of strenghts...however, you have to chip away then set your opponent up for bigger damage.

the point is that if you face a Fujin by myself, MKF, or DNC you will see a different beast than you will against ANY other Fujin. The other fujins are low tier...however, we use him in a way that make him mid-tier...maybe even high mid-tier.

Same thing with Frost. Not to brag...but I think I have one of the best Frost strategies out there.I notice that the ONLY times when my Frost gets beat bad is when my opponent has severe lag. Othewise she can compete with just about ANYONE.

Kobra is another one. Most Kobras I have seen suck. However, I think i have figured out a way to play him so that he is a mid-tier.

Conversely, I cant play Quan, Mavado or Sheeva for shit. They feel like they should be good but I havent developed a good startegy.

Also take Atari....with most peeps if they pick sindel...i am thinking its an automatic win....with Atari...well, that SOB IS sindel. He makes her feel pretty damn tough. He also is the only one who makes Kai seem tough.

Anyway...my point is this...Arcade is a jerk...wait no...my point is that its not the character...its the strategy used by the person playing the character.

It almost looked like you had problems finishing combos to. Nearly everytime you could have added an extra 10, or even 20% to your combos.... you failed nearly everytime.

Dont even think for a second that you make Frost look mid - high tier. That shit isnt even low tier if you ask me.

Now as far as the Groy series...i think I may have actually won with Frost (bad memory) if not i have beat Groy in the past with her. I am sure Eazy's Frost is better...but it mainly cuz Eazy is better.

Also you brought up a great point. I wasnt able to finish alot of combos...that was very observant with you. By controller is messing up...in a certain direction for whatever reason its difficult to parry and some of my buttons are sticking. I dont feel like buy another xbox controller just for this game...i am going to stick it out. When you play me you may pick up on this...oh, wait you wont play me OR ANYONE because you dont have a xbox troll

Atari i know your not this silly. saying Deagon is the worst in the game O_o hes a upper mid tier character. low poking him isnt the way to beat him. atleast vs a person that knows how to use him. his B,F+4 works like B+2 in 1st but can be done from a distance. all his weapon attacks hits High mid, so if some one goes to duck all his attacks will hit.
stop side steppers w/ 1,1,2,free throw. or weapon 2,4 free throw. im shocked i have to even type this to you O_o

D+4 in Fu is just as safe as D+4 w/ Tanya. you get 100% 50/50 mix ups from it. you can D+4 ~ parry, throw, B+2, 1,1,2, up+4 or do the crazy low mix ups d+4, d+1 d+3 repeat the 3 very effective. then when your foe tries to duck the lows go right into weapon and 2,4 them.

You use Sindel still? i use her tons still, she still has what it takes. i just struggle vs good sareenas, scorpions and Dranhims w/ her. other then that she competes.

Kai is the weakest. jinko, frost and shang. Frost and Kai are just retarded w/ no decent useful mid. boon is so dumb.

Once you play Daegon defensively, he has very few options.....

Play like Easy deep kick into 50/50 throw/2,4/B+2 mix up.(Best strat with any low tier)

Play like I do - Distance game using 1,1 in weapon forcing your opponent to do something risky and punish with 2,4 50/50 mixup.(Effective mind game)

Play like Bobby and shoot fireballs/shoulder charge mix up. (Not good strategy and I dont reccoemend this under any circumstances)

Or just D+4/B+2 entire match.

D+4 will get punished if you spam it vs most connections and very agressive players. Same as MKD Sindel, those who figured it out would exhange hits with me because they revocer as fast as I did. Just that most people think they have to continue to block. Also, I could spam the parry at certain times and eat a few D+4's. All defensive strategies that render Daegon USELESS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------


Bone - With Kai DF 2 is a great move. Not every move has to safe to be usefull. Great anti air move if timed right and leads to a 50/50 if you let them land. Leads to a free throw if followed with D,U+2.

And U,D 3 kills most projectiles and catches jumpers full screen. Safe on some connections.

Oh yeah Kai has one of the fastest D+2 (edit) in weapon.

Three very good anti air moves.

**Tip vs. Quan Chi - similar strategy I use vs 2,4,4 spammers. You can low poke/sweep the first hit and force your oppoent to actually use his un safe mids or floor kick. Not saying its full proof.....but its better than trying to block U,D,U. So If you KNOW its coming, block low or low poke. It helps.

Who uses Kai and Frost anyway? lol Frost maybe but Kai? pfftt lol his character sucks period.

P.S. Boon and midway aren't dumb dude, they just rush shit I've noticed they did make us MK2, UMK3 which are great games. When they take their time with something the game turns out better. But UMK3 is also coming out for the DS soon hehe with the puzzle game, can't wait.

I guess you never stuck with Easy long enough to find out about Frost.
Deep kick and she can be a pain. She's not the worst because of the ground freeze and puddle (that third offensive option) that lead to high damage combos. Low on the list but not worst.

Deagon is worst.


I use Kai. You havent faced him yet. Maybe once or twice but I've implemented a few things into his game. He can at least compete with mids.

Bone - come on, Im rusty at this game. Youre the first I played since I got back but you only give me 2 games, I expected more. Seemed like we were going to have some interesting Kai matches if you were up to it. Connection was a bit off but def. playable.

I've played eazy, however kind of pointless when you attack and your hits literally go right thru....I can't connect with him for shit, granted he's a great player don't get me wrong but that still doesn't change the fact that our connection sucks balls.

Some peeps complain about bobby? I connect with him perfectly fine among most on here, eazy totally different story.

But anyway, he's never really given me Frost in our first series way back I think he did but Malone IMO has the best Frost online. Play malone's frost, he'll make anyone think twice about saying she sucks.

Kai though IMO does straight out suck, but give props for anyone who can use him. Bone from what I'm reading can use him well so that's good to hear. Pig with Shang, me with Fujin etc, etc. There's always someone out there that I believe can use any character that someone else hates or is bad with.

You believe Daegon is the worst? I don't know if I agree with that personally. I mean alex is pretty damn good with him I must say as well as Taven. His Daegon is pretty good, I don't personally believe he's the worst but to each his own.

The worst character in the game is Kai, then it goes to Kobra(but that pisses me off cause he was my best in MK D) damn it!

I disagree Kobra is actually pretty good he is a mid tier character. In Deception he was top 5 but they weakened him down a bit by taking away his Kali Stick weapon stance. The worst characters in the game are Kai, Cyrax, and Shang Tsung.

I think that the worst character is shinnok, sure hes cool and alll that but he sucks. He has crap combos and all his special moves are easily blockable. The only advantage of using shinnok is that he has a very long ranged weapon.

Yeah, shinnok's game is all about otg's, free skull hand grab, unparryable throw repeat etc, etc...he is tough but he's one of those characters. Take away his free skull grabs and he's toned down dramatically IMO.
