Asking Alexandria is pretty good to listen to when you're trying to get some college work done. My brother teases me about the band's name because a girl I like has that name (minus the "Asking" part of course).

In other news, finally got around to playing Mortal Kombat again, had taken like a 5 month hiatus from it. It's funny, I used to love Smoke up to Mortal Kombat Deception, but they kept screwing up his look more and more and now I hate the guy. I loved the Cyber Smoke from MK3, UMK3, MKT, but the weird freaky suspender wearing, wrestler mask wearing, blob of smoke that he became on Deception and Armageddon was stupid looking. He looked like Rey Mysterio Jr had somehow turned into mist and decided to start wearing suspenders. On don't even get me started on the new game. So, I no longer like Smoke, they mess with his look too much. I like Cyrax the most now, followed by Sektor. Everyone I know doesn't like the cyborgs, but they're the reason why I enjoy Mortal Kombat so much. If Mortal Kombat had no cyborgs, I probably wouldn't play it as often as I do. (Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed MK2 a lot too, used to use Reptile like crazy on that one), I'm just a huge sci-fi robotic fan, and love things with robots! (Terminator, Iron Man, War Machine, Predator (kind of robotic), Gundam, etc.). So I like Cyrax and Sektor because they pretty much stay true to their original concepts, cyborgs, and don't venture off from it. With Smoke, it's like taking Helen Keller grocery shopping, you'll never know what you'll end up with.

That's my little venting I had to do.



Same person, don't you think, lol. Maybe I'm just paranoid and am the only to notice it. Maybe I'm the only who got bothered by it, just had to express my opinion, I'm sure there's a lot of people who actually like the new designs for the character, but me, not so much, I stopped using him since Deception came out just because I don't want to look at him at the versus screen or stare at him during a fight. Even using his alt on the new game, I still have to see his versus render, and I can't do it. So, for me, I can't use him anymore, but Cyrax and Sektor and Cyber Sub-zero are all great and give me my needed dosage of cyborgs!

I actually did really like this look. He looked retro, while still looking different than Cyrax and Sektor. I liked it when this was his primary (on Deception) but on Armageddon they made his other costume the main, and I stopped using him after that. When I heard he was going to be on the new game I went ecstatic especially since everyone said it was supposed to be about the first three games, so I thought, cool, a new version of him, but was really disappointed with him. Disappointed doesn't even describe it really. So, I'm sticking with Cyrax and Sektor, they're more consistent. Being a Smoke fan was too much of a rollercoaster for me, got tired of guessing what they'll do next. He's the only character that has this issue. People always know what Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kitana, Mileena, Noob Saibot, Jade, Jax, Goro, Kintaro, etc. will look like, it'll be a design similar to what we're used to always seeing them in. With Smoke, he can bounce around from a cyborg, to a human, to a member of the WWE, to a long lost member of Twisted Sister, and everything in between. I wouldn't be surprised if on the next game he's just an actual solid circle/blob made out of smoke that has fangs or something, lol. Like I said, that's just how I feel, I've heard a lot of people say the exact opposite as what I'm saying though. So, maybe I'm the weird one, who knows. Just felt like voicing my opinion on his de-evolution throughout the years. Went from being my favorite to one of my least favorites in the blink of an eye. I play characters/games for the character design, and if I don't like them, I won't use them, and that's what happened to my once favorite character in Mortal Kombat. I've gotten really good as Cyrax though.

I like Smoke's primary in MK9, he actually looks unique and I love that his hair actually looks like a column of Smoke.

MKD Smoke was annoying to look at though.


The Cyber version was okay, I just prefer human because that was his original look.

I always thought Cyrax and Sektor covered the Cyborg angles perfectly fine on their own anyway.

Got blunted/buzzed on liquor last night and haven't slept since. I'm surprisingly well adjusted.

Also, thanks to a picture message I got last night, I remember why I love cleavage so much.

Jade started off with caramel skin, auburn hair and a lime green leotard. In some ports, she's caucasian with black hair like Kitana. She tossed bronze fans at you in combat and was immune to projectiles. In the next game after she wore an emerald leotard with black trimming and had brown skin and black hair. Her bronze fans were replaced with purple razor-rangs. In the movie she was asian/caucasian (could never tell that actress's ethnicity) and in her next game appearance in Deception she had slightly lighter mocha skin with beautiful big lips and stunning amazonian looks, and her razor rang was made of steel with a green afterglow. In the render for this game, she was caucasian, yet in the game she's clearly mocha, and none of her facial features are anything alike from what she looked like in Deception.

My point being? MK sucks at consistency. That's never changed and it never will change

If your to base your opinion on a character over how they appear in a game, your genuinely at a loss if you can't recognise and appreciate just how kick ass they are despite their appearance. Jade being a great example of this (likewise with Smoke) as despite her inconsistent facial features and skin colour she's always been one of the most intriguing, integral characters in the story line and even in the re-vamped story we have in this game she rose to become an important character in regards to aiding Raiden's forces and freeing Kitana.

If you learn to look past the many, many inconsistencies that weave the fabric of Mortal Kombat you'll appreciate it all the more, trust me.

His MK3/UMK3/MKT look will forever be his best look. Maybe followed by his MK (2011) Alt.

Well I was playing MK Trilogy a few weeks ago, and Cyber Smoke on that game is still, and always will be my all time favorite character ever in Mortal Kombat. He was sick in that game, his look, his moves, the entire way he played. I will always love UMK3 and MK Trilogy more than any other Mortal Kombat game ever just because of him being in that game. Cyrax has been my guy since MK Gold, but in Trilogy and UMK3 I don't use him as often because I use Smoke in those ones, Smoke's my guy in the old school games, always will be. However, Cyrax is my main from Deadly Alliance on, just because Smoke no longer resembles himself in anyway shape or form (or at least not the version I once knew and loved). It's like dating a really hot chick who has nothing wrong with her and she goes and gets a bunch of plastic surgery and no longer resembles her former self, lol. So, perhaps I'm shallow, lol I just don't think he's the same character anymore in anyway, any shape or any form. Until I see a Mortal Kombat game where he comes back how I remember, I won't be able to stand using the guy, Cyrax is my main until that day comes. Even though Cyrax lost a lot of his moves on Deadly Alliance, he still resembled Cyrax, so I was cool with the changes. It seems like if Smoke has an identity crisis since MK3 came out.

But the final event was ssf4ae international tourney5v5v5v5v5v5v5v5 and everyone thought US and Canada was gna get blown up by all the Asian and European teams. Canada got fourth place I believe which was really good looking at the competition. And no one expected US to come in 2nd. There was 2 European teams and 2 Japanese teams. Japan 1 was the favorite but they lost to us, and Japan 2 won it all thanks to kazemoto(sp)

I'm very into fighting game lingo and all, havnt 100 percent picked up what it means when someone says "oh, that was so free!" so is free like, "ohh that was sick." or "oh he got blown up." someone plz explain.

Smoke's best look = MK2011 Primary. With the hair. I'm sticking to that.

Co-worker just gave me a copy of the old Official MKII Arcade Secrets strategy guide that he had tucked away and just found. It's in perfect condition; even the posters are still inside. :D Always loved the artwork in that book.
