In many occassions the band can eventually become better or retain the success. Well, it's been a downhill after Metallica lost Cliff Burton to the cliffs and when they sent Dave Mustaine away. (They have still made Load & Reload though.) But then there are bands like Faith No More who became just better after sending away their talented singer, Chuck Mosley and replacing him with Mike Patton. Alice In Chain's new album wasn't bad either.
Vince Neil was replaced by a mediocre singer in the 90s in Mötley Crüe and that would have been the beginning of an end - but luckily for the band, Vince Neil returned (unfortunate to the temporary singer). When we're talking about a widely-known and valuable band, it's usually not the best choice to give it up immediately but instead listen to the fans. I'd have more examples too but I'm sure you got the point. In cases where the fans begin to moan about why they are still making a new album (for money), it might then be the best choice to stop (for the sake of the band's reputation).

I'm pretty torn. With a nine year run though it was to be expected. Now they're looking for a replacement and it's going to be sooooooooo hard to replace Jones. What they can do to save this band is:
1. Try to get Jesse Leach (Former KSE lead vocalist before Jones) back.
2. Get Phil LaBonte(Lead vocalist for All That Remains) as the vocalist.
I've seen Youtube videos with LaBonte as the vocalist and it was awesome. He would be the best replacement for sure in my books. If they get some unknown mother trucker though, it's going to take a long time for me to get used to it. A veeeeeeery long time. We'll see how this plays out in the future.
Oh, and this is like a death to me. Now if Howard Jones were to actually die...

Tinychat is a site that provides it's users with a chatroom they can set up. The cool thing about it is that it is built for webcams. So while we are all in a tinychat room, we would be able to talk to each other face to face via webcam, rather than just typing words back and forth to each other. I had eight people in a room with webcams last night. You can also set it to where you just talk through your microphone without your camera on, or you can just talk in the chatbox right under the camera screens.

Then there's Sugababes that has every single original member replaced. The exception proves the rule... Geri's loss was heartbreaking to my sister.

This is a neat idea. Just like the old PalTalk days, sorta.

Thanks Torchia! I am aware of the IRC channnel, I mentioned it in my earlier posts. I just don't think many other people acknowledge it. I think a tinychat MKO profile would bring the community closer with that step forward of being able to video chat. It is an app also linked through facebook.

Oh, and this is like a death to me. Now if Howard Jones were to actually die...
I always thought Jesse Leach was a better vocalist overall, his highs were better, and his clean vocals were more rounded and executed. I liked his lyrical content more than Howard's too. However, Howard wasn't bad. I do think that Phil LaBonte is an amazing singer/screamer, definitely better than either Jesse Leach or Howard Jones in my opinion, and I've seen the songs I did for the group on the tour where Howard didn't go with the group. I'm sure they could easily get a good vocalist to replace Howard, probably even an unknown guy who sounds a lot like him. For example, two years ago when Christian Alvestam left Scar Symmetry, they had to replace him. However, his clean singing and his growls were both so unique that it actually took two guys to replace him. One guy who sings just like him, and another who growls just like him. Sounds good, sometimes can't tell it's two guys. So I think that Killswitch can find a replacement. Sad that Howard's leaving, but I'd really love it and prefer if Jesse came back, when he was with them the group just sounded "heavier" and more "melodic". That's why I'm loving Jesse's two side projects, Jesse is just a monster on vocals. Plus him and Adam are still great friends, so it might happen.

ever take a dump so big your pants fit better?
I know that Billy Corgan always was the main songwriting force behind The Smashing Pumpkins (having written virtually all of Siamese Dream solo, and recorded most of it himself IIRC). But after James and D'Arcy left, there was still this palpable difference. Of course, Billy's songwriting changed for the worse, and that played a major part, but not having them around hurt Zeitgeist a little for me. They were active in the studio during the Mellon Collie recording sessions, and I don't think it's a coincidence that that's my favorite album.
Finally Jimmy Chamberlin leaves too, and while the new drummer ain't bad, he's just no Jimmy. SP post Machina and the initial breakup has just been this weird rotating circus with the odd good song floating in a sea of mediocrity. Billy should have just bequeathed a new band name - what comes out these days barely sounds like Pumpkins anymore; a result of the combination of Billy's different, older outlook on life, and the absence of the other three original members. Sigh.
