Co-worker got hit by a car while riding her bike. She forgot her helmet that day, and while going downhill, her brakes didn't work. Thankfully, she was able to veer somewhat away from traffic, but she did collide with a car, albeit indirectly due to her turning and becoming somewhat parallel with it.
She's alright now, just a few bruises and stitches that're healing up well, but she's very lucky considering the aformentioned no breaks and helmet bit.
