This thread's not going to be closed... and even if it was, I would simply clean up the reason why it was closed and have it reopened. This is a community thread, and it's something the people have made into a trademark of the General Discussion forum. This is the last Drive By thread; there won't be another unless the threads are wiped cleaned when the new version of the site is implemented someday, and I doubt we'd have to resort to that.
This thread is supposed to be about discussing what ever's on your mind... unfortunately for me, I can't really talk about what's on my mind so I decided to pretend that DPs were what I was thinking about. I'm still going to pretend that's the case...
What does it matter what a moderator's opinion about a "good post" or "bad post" is? It doesn't weaken moderator powers at all... the rating system is a sub-feature of the site that was designed to provide the users with a little enjoyment, however small it may be, from posting decent responses to things, helping each other out and being given out rarely as a prize for something. I personally don't require the dragon point system to know who the good users are. I can tell without them. As for skull points, they'd be great if they meant something and actually had some effect other than lowering rank. However, they don't... and once again, I don't need tokens to tell me who the troublemakers are. I just know.
The feedback system was a good idea, but like all good ideas, it's become a tool that's been exploited. You're right, it's a great way for the users to tell the mods what they like and what they don't. However, the number of people who actually use the system in a serious manner is rather small. There are many people who rate things based on whether or not they like the person the DPs were given to, and the same goes for skull points. If a "cool guy" is skulled for doing something like flaming/being 'funny', then the rating will generally be mostly bad. However, if some newbie does the same thing, people are generally fine with it. What the user feedback system has taught me is that people are biased towards their friends, and once again... I didn't need some system to tell me that. It's painfully obvious either way.
In this case, it just let me know that no matter how people claim they "don't care" about DPs or ranks, they actually do. It's just like any random giveaway for being the #__ visitor or shopper. Do people complain they didn't get it? Yeah, of course they do. But do they actually think it was a bad idea...? Not always. People seem to enjoy free giveaways in the real world. My problem is that the same people who thought the five DPs Maggo received were unfair said that the five SubZero2 received WERE fair. How is it more fair? It's not at all. If the first rating was bad, then the second one should have been terrible. It was a pointless giveaway just like the first, only this time it was actually given to "prove" dragon points are indeed worthless.
So as I said, since mods and users alike find them "worthless" and "meaningless", I don't understand the reasoning in keeping things around that clearly no one respects.

As the system is run by people, the whole system is essentially flawed by people.Even getting rid of this current system won't change the opinion of a "bad post" to "good post." Users should know this system is not run by a computer that controls who/when to give out points. It's just people, who place their opinion on what they feel on a post. Whether an average user likes it or not, it's similar to a supreme court giving a majority opinion or a dissenting opinion. To get rid of the whole dp system, it weakens mod powers, and makes their opinion on what post is good or bad null and void basically. Then also, what is the point of shadow priests? nothing.
As for the feedbacks, I think it's a fair way for the community to respond to all the mods, rather than PMing each one. Whether a person uses it wisely or not, it's not the feedbacks fault, its the persons. Getting rid of feedbacks wouldn't give much people to voice themselves w/o the forum knowing. Thus causes a tension in threads.

I believe in most likely whatever feedback you got for the 5 dps were warrented to being absurd/bad because those dps themselves were not so much given to a good post. Whether those dp's was proposed to be a prize for whomever, I still tend to believe that giving those dps, got what it deserved. It was a simply for fun, and that some feedback, just like the one I gave followed that "fun." If one was to give "YOU MODS SUCK FOR GIVING OUT DPS RANDOMLY YOU _____ ___ ______" then it's something different.
In conclusion, the system is only at fault because people can't respect each others opinions. Users to mods, and mods to users.

It was more about how you decided to use the feedback system to score my rating as "unfair" on some technicality when I was being a messenger for the guy who runs this site and also how you thought it was good to leave a "fair" rating to Megababe's with the reason of "lol." I wasn't aware random awards to people bitching about not having DPs were more fair than things with half a purpose.
But I digress... it's a pointless system ran by pointless people for other pointless people. No one wants to make it better or take it seriously, and I'm just tired of trying.

Did I really click fair on that one? Damn, I must have been practically sleepwalking when I did that. I meant to hit unfair for that one too, since that was indeed a (for lack of a better word) retarded 5 DP present (to Subzero2). If it's alright with you, I'll go back and give Maggo the 5 DPs that were given back to him, because our argument here is kind of unfair to him, since he's losing out here.
Or I'll just stop talking, because I'd like this thread to stay open.
