Wow that looks.....surprisingly bad.
Leave it to Duke Nukem to devote ten seconds of a reveal trailer to someone peeing in a urinal

Perhaps you folks haven't played a Duke Nukem game before. Crass and pop culture satire are kind of his thing. I expect plenty of jabs at Halo and COD in this. In a world where activision keeps shoving COD down our throats and everybody jumping on the multiplayer centric bandwagon. Duke Nukem Forever will be a much needed breath of fresh air.

Oh hell yes.
I'm saving up my pennies so I can get this on release day

Graphics mean diddly nothing anymore.
Most of the differences lie in cosmetics, but noone cares about lens flare effects when you have tight packed action. Besides, the original Duke came months before Quake 1 and was still capable of holding it's own and be more profitable than average.
On the other hand, yes, this game of all games has the most to live up to. And with it there is the fact that people will bitch about it to no end, even more than MK.
The gameplay and design was the strongpoint (Levelord was the designer of the original Duke3D and his levels put current dystopian urban areas to shame in 90% of games).
I mean really... Random hi-tech sterile spacestation from Halo or.... The San Andreas fault during an earthquake, which then collapses into a volcaninc fissure, which leads into an ancient indian temple, which then leads to a subterranean derelict spacecraft overgrown with (somewhat aliens-like) vegetation. A game with 2.5D graphics and vectors pulled this off.
Of all the games from my youth I think Duke deserves the comeback (unlike MK and it's fanbase but that is a different story altogether), as there is plenty of more mature themes o parody and satirize. It is plain dumb machismo fun, that pokes at the source material and itself.
We need more of this.

"Yeah, right in the jewels."
Kinda sad though, because, as TVTropes put it:
Rated M For Manly: Justified in that Middle School aged kids who rode their bikes to the mall to preorder it when it was first announced (prior to the ESRB ratings) have entered and completed High School, learned to drive, gone through postsecondary education, begun their careers, married and had children of their own while the game was in development. Also the store they ordered it from has been bought out and merged twice and the mall's not there anymore.

I'd probably really like it if Duke wasn't the most sexist game character in history. But I'll admit the alien queen with the giant tits made me laugh. Any excuse to actually get uncensored boobs in game, guaranteed to ship a few more copies.

I dont want to bust your bubbles Chrome, but alot of journalists that have played DNF have been disappointed with the game's shallow graphics and gameplay. I'm excited to play the game like any other DN fan, but dont expect it to be a fantastic game. It just a shame that it took them this long to make.

EDIT: apparently there was a hands on event recently, but regardless, Duke Nukem is a SINGLE player FPS and if anyone is expecting a multplayer component ala Call of Duty or Killzone, of course theyre going to be disappointed. From what I've been reading the ONLY thing it borrows from modern shooters is regenerating health which is its SELLING POINT. People act as if the genre is so much better than it was 15 years ago, it isn't. It's a genre that's been completely neutered by the casual market.

funny thing about it is that he doesn't technically have health, getting hit makes him lose his Ego instead.
...which further cements Duke as a heroic badass.
also, it's a Duke Nukem Game, his personality is his biggest selling point.
"I'm here to kick ass and steal quotes from movies, and I'm all out of quotes,"
only... he isn't

The ego thing is carried over from Duke Nukem: Land of Babes which reminds me: Why does everyone act like there hasn't been a Duke Nukem game since '96? There has been FOUR:
Duke Nukem: Time to Kill: Third person shooter that uses the Tomb Raider engine. It was fantastic.
Duke Nukem: Zero Hour: First/third person shooter on the N64, One of the best 3rd party games on the damn system. Titanic Level was EPIC
Duke Nukem: Land of Babes: Third Person shooter on the PSX, decent but forgettable. Duke pissing on Silverback's corpse still amuses me.
Duke Nukem: The Manhattan Project: Side-scroller akin to the original Duke Nukem. Ya can download it on it on X-Box Live.
The FPS market has been stagnating ever since Half-Life. HL2 was the reiteration of the first one only better. DN3D wasn't exactly innovative either, but delivered on sheer amounts of funny. Same here, DNF is the only game that pokes fun, and celebrates it's content with gusto.
I don't have high expectation for this game, I wan't brainless fun. Something that most of the other games cannot do with style. If you cannot innovate, then do your best with what you have. Easy.
Besides, we are past innovations in video games. Nothing really new can be done right now. Starcraft 2 didn't innovate, CnC4 didn't innovate, MK 2011 sure as hell has nothing new, SupCom2 actually went backwards with resource gathering, and the RPG market is still clustered. Mass Effect 3 will not innovate anything either.

None of these games was produced by 3d Realms nor were they FPS's. Forever is the true successor to Duke 3d.

And? They're still Duke Nukem games and a few of them are arguably better than 3D
Arguably as in totally up to preference and subjective decision on the buyers part since they are of different genres.
To be fair, this game is going to have some serious negative feedback. It should have came around 2 years earlier and then it probably would be the magical shit everyone is hoping it to be.
It is not going to be as such. I am more interested in Duke because we will have alot of different stuff happening than in Black Ops and other soulless war exploitation games... I mean, driving around in a casino with a shrunken bigfoot car? Prowling through the Hoover Dam? Crotch Punching bosses? Escaping a burning hangar by using an F14 vulcan cannon to blow open a door?
Of course, it may still deliver under what was promised. What I want specifically is an entertaining game that is on par with the average. Duke3D came just about before Quake a few months. Quake was the first definitive 3D FPS game. Kinda like the invention of electricity calibre stepping stone in game evolution.
And of course, works are on the way for Doom 4. Carmack is a genius by itself who can outprogram NRS alone (seriously, they had shown what the guy does in his spare time, it is mind boggling, on par with Gates circa pre-W95 in importance)...
And yes, Manhattan project was good, and had a slammin' Grabbag.

It does look fun, i'll admit. All these war shooters with the retarded plotlines are boring the hell out of me.
Even if it does look aimed very very squarely at beings with something hanging between their legs.
