I've been thinking about how, on given message board in general, when a new game or movie comes out, there is always a newbie invasion, complete with spam, flooding, flaming, and goodness knows what else.

Has anyone ever considered having an Old members forum, where you can only post after having been on the message board for at least a year, or at least a certain number of months? It would certainly be a refuge until the major part of the storm is over.

well they always could do what some forums do, have a forum that only becoems availible in VIEWING and POSTING after you have gotten certain circumstance, but over a year seems pretty bad, maybe like, over five thousand visits could work, as n00bs (not newbies, n00bs) would never be able to get in, as usually they come, they spam, they leave forever, could work out, i like thaat idea alot nova.

I think it's very funny all these people are leaving cause of 'noobs'. That is just sad. What did u expect when MK:D was coming around? You think nobody would find this little place? Anyone who didn't see this coming deserves to leave, cause that is just as bad as being a so called 'noob'.

Exactly. But a new message board wouldn't be bad ^_^;

wow, one year. thats pretty strict. i guess ill see you guys later then. i havent been here for quite a year yet...almost though. i think 100 visits would be better. otherwise, no body is going to waste their time reading other ppl's opinions if they cant voice their own. if i had to visit 500 times or one year, i would not be here now.

Dumb. There are far too many "n00b"ish people who have been here for more than a year.

It could work, but what would become of the original general section? I mean, there are noobs, and then there are newer users. I've met a lot of the newer users, and a lot of them are really cool.

I think it would be nice to have a separate forum for vets, but I think each vet should have an obligation to post in both general forums. but that's my opinion.

I really don't like that idea.

1) Like blade said, everyone should have known that a bunch of newbs would come when we got MK:D news.

2) The General Discussion forum is no where near as bad as the MK:D forum.

3) It's discrimination, not only that but like Hyuga said, there are some zzzzzzzzz newbish people that have been here for over a year

4) Just go on the chat.

First of all I agree it's total discrimination, and like Hyuga said there are plenty of people who've been here for a year or whatever and are still total "n00bs" in my opinion. And in the same respect, there are probably lots of people that have been here for under a year that are completely intellegent, respectable people, who deserve to be allowed in. So time here isn't really a viable option.

Secondly, visit count is out for obvious reasons.

So through blatant discrimination of who's cool or "elite" enough to participate seems like the only answer. I like it.

Hmm, I think I agree about the n00bs that have been here more than a year and intelligent people that have been here under a year. But I still like the idea of a refuge. I guess the chatroom can count, sort of, hehe.

I disagree totally, noob or not you should be able to get everywhere, to post anything. Who are we to get a special forum? Just coz we are longer here? Are we better then them? Do we deserve better? I respect all noobs. And this is just a horrible, selfish idea.

Hi Novastar glad to see you posting again, maybe one way would be to have an elite forum, one that is based on dragon points, you reach certain number and you are then allowed into that area, it would keep the noobs out and also give them something extra to aim for other than a new rank, just an idea.

Hmm, it sounds too elitist for me. Better to live with everyone on the forums than to miss out some great people just because they don't belong to the "club". Remember that for every 20 n00bs, there's a new member with potential...

The sane people just need to clench their teeth for a while I guess... that's what I do, at least.

If there's a log of people that joined MK5.org (I'm pretty sure CCShadow set it up in the database), then it won't be that hard to implement it.
If it's a good idea is another thing.

It has my vote, though.
