I believe God doesn't mind if you play violent video games, as long as you know that it's not okay to treat other people like that in real life and you play in moderation (i.e. not every single day). He'd probably rather you play something like Pokemon (STFU they're good games), but hey...better on a TV screen than in real life, eh?

i think that god has a small objection but in his infinant wisedom knows the difference from real life and a game that is life like. i have no religion but i do think that all religions are a path to god with the exceptions of devil worship and scientology as well as cults and extremist groups. i think the gods that were worshiped were some agent of god weither their demi gods or angels or holy spirites i think that most religions are a way to reach god. as long as your a good person you have a place in heaven. i can't imagion god another way.

Well I was raised Catholic went to a catholic school all the way up till highschool. Last year I was baptized again as a christian.
No I don't believe everything pressed upon as a catholic or a christian I do read the bible and I do read religious based books. I'm not gonna get on here and tell people what to believe or how to think, but this is one of the poorest excuses of a religious thread I've ever seen Not the topic, but what people are talking about.
I've seen some good points and I've seen some really rediculous ones. I guess some people are just really that ignorant when it comes to things like this. Which is the number one reason the subject is rarely brought up and is probley one of the most debateable topics in the world.

I hate to say it but playing Mortal Kombat is definitely a sin. Committing,soliciting and thinking about sin is wrong. Mortal Kombat solicits murder/killing. Much like how Harry Potter solicits witch craft and sorcery for example. Most people know that committing and thinking about sin is wrong but they forget and overlook that soliciting sin is just as bad as committing sin and thinking about sin. The bottom line is that Committing/Thinking/Soliciting sin is wrong and neither of these are better or worse than the other. Mortal Kombat solicits sin therefore it is wrong to play games of this kind.

Dude, MK isn't a sin lol.It's a fictional video game, if someone REALLY kills someone then it's a sin, but MK is merely a video game, nothing else.

Take adultery for example, Most Girlfriends/Boyfriends and Wives/Husbands would agree that seeing and sleeping with other people is wrong. Most Girlfriends/Boyfriends and Wives/Husbands would agree that thinking about seeing and sleeping around with other people is wrong, And then there is soliciting adultery in films, television and books which encourages people to commit adultery. Soliciting is so overlooked and downplayed. Mortal Kombat solicits Murder. Committing murder is wrong but thinking about is not because you have not murdered anybody physically yet Jesus said that the thought of murder is just as bad as committing murder. Committing Murder is wrong but seeing it in films and games is not because it is not real yet The Bible says otherwise because it solicits and encourages that sort of behavior. I like playing Mortal Kombat and other violent games and movies yet I know it is wrong to do so. I guess that makes me a hypocrite.

Its a game, get over it, its people like you that hamper the creative process because you think everything in fiction is a sin except the bible (yes the bible can be considered a work of fiction by some since all its events have yet to be proven by historians and scientists) and its silly, fiction is fiction, just because we read, listen or play it doesn't me we are going to do it, I play mortal kombat, golden eye for nostalgia and other games but I don't go out and do those things in real life.
