I frankly haven't found anything on Fox's animation department funny. The Simpsons, while I know it was a good show, never struck a chord for me. Anything by Seth MacFarlane was simply not funny to me. It's rare that I even cracked a smile while watching anything of his.
I'll second the recommendation for Young Justice. Don't expect Teen Titans; this is a far more serious show with a long series plot arc. I've also been pleasantly surprised by Transformers Prime. I was expecting a cheap CGI series, but the writing has more than delivered. Even my wife enjoys watching it... even though we both think the character of Miko should have died LONG ago. And yes, people die in this series. You get to see an Autobot brutally murdered by Starscream in the second episode. (TV Tropes gives the series its own entry in the "High Octane Nightmare Fuel" section...)
Also, was I the only one who liked Wolverine and the X-Men? I was pretty disappointed when that didn't get a second season.

FOX is dead, sans American Dad. Cartoons Network came out with some good shows (Regular Show, Adventure TIme, etc) but recently has just been seeing how much LOLRANDUM crap they can fit in to their schedule. Nick is just pathetic, everything animated ro nto is just crap out of them. The HUB is cool, it shows good classic cartoons and comes out with some good new ones, though I refuse to check out My Little Pony.

Well, Spongebob and Adveenture Time are still funny. Sometimes, I feel like the latter is an RPG. I just can't stop watching when I feel that way...

You mean the one clone character who rarely even showed up?
Futurama is my favourite cartoon ever, it's brilliant. I haven't caught up with the episodes since it got picked up by Comedy Central (Canada didn't get the first season, what the fuck), but I loved the 4 movies they did.
The Simpsons started becoming shit after Futurama aired; FOX cancelled the wrong show.

When you guys say "used to be good", have you ever considered that you might just have grown out of it?

I second this to some degree. Some of my favorite shows from back in the day don't fare well with my judgement now (Beavis & Butthead for one although the new season is hilarious), but some shows have legitimately fallen off.
Family Guy could be a casualty, but the episode about Quagmire's sister enticed my more adult brains for being centered on some serious shit. Also the dialogue was great. Consider the scene where Joe reminds them of how murder is a crime, but switches to their side on the matter. That shit would totally happen and I found it hilarious.
Futurama hit a bump when it re-premiered on CC, but it's bounced back later.
The Cleveland Show is so very middle of the road.
The Simpsons, despite what everyone else says, has actually been pretty good when I managed to catch it. I think some people have just overdosed on it and can't see the humor where it's held. The Simpsons will be the 2Pac/Biggie of cartoons, meaning that we'll want it back as soon as it's gone and everyone will be trying to replace it with wannabes. It's already happened before, but you just wait.
Cartoon Network I think is trying to get their shit together, showing the older Cartoon Cartoons and classic Merry Melodies animations. Some of the new shows are downright awesome as well such as Adventure Time and Regular Show. I'm not sure if it's for children, but I feel that snaps and abnormal dialogue are funnier than just outright slapstick and overblown reactions (looking at you, Disney Channel).
Nickelodeon will NEVER be as glorious as it used to because their best shows can't seem to find an audience in their network and that's just terrible. Invader Zim was just the bee's knees and Fairly Odd Parents was great before they decided to add a fairy baby (why?).
Spongebob Squarepants is total shit now and I can't even explain why. I have a theory that the originators aren't involved anymore and their credits being on Adventure Time seem to validate my theory. Not sure as I've avoided seeing that damn show for a while now.
Adult Swim is only good for Robot Chicken to me. Where did all the cool shit go? Harvey Birdman? Superjail? And (my all time favorite) Mission Hill?
I'm taking a nap!

I thought that Hermes and Fry both had little children clones? I could be wrong, but for some reason I remembered them being a big part of the series when it was declining. Maybe they were just a big role in the last episode I had ever seen. I mean, to be fair when this show aired I was between 9 and 12 years old, so I guess I just don't remember everything correctly.

I would have agreed with this except for the fact that I still do like some of the old shows from my childhood, like Sailor Moon and stuff.
You do have a good point though, many times we grow out of things we used to love.
To who was describing that Nickelodeon doesn't have a target audience, you're right to some point.
Majority of their live action shows features girls, iCarly and that Victorious show. Then you got that band show, I have no idea what its called, and their issues mainly deal with something that you would see a girl fall into. I have a few younger girl cousins that watches these shows when I come over. It's not like I have a choice to watch this when I'm over there.
The other shows, Power Rangers, I was greatly disappointed that it was some new version of the rangers rather than the older version. i thought I read it that they were going to be showing that instead of something new. I really wanted to see the old Power Rangers but I guess we can't have what we want.
Nickelodeon back in the 90s was great because there WAS a target audience, basically anyone who grew up as a kid during the 90s. I miss the old shows such as Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Rokko's Modern Life, Invader Zim, The Angry Beavers, not so much with Catdog, The Wild Thornberries, Rocket Power...
Even their live action wasn't girly with Hey Dude, Camp Salute Your Shorts, Are You Afraid of the Dark.
And those that had a female protagonist, I still hear guys saying, "I miss The Adventures of Alex Mack and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo."
Why can't the channel just have the old shows replay itself? There used to be a channel where it featured all of these cartoons but that got changed into a different station.
There was also Nickelodeon Gas, that featured all of the game shows such as Double Dare, Wild and Crazy Kids, Figure It Out, Guts, and my all-time favorite The Legends of the Hidden Temple.
You don't see these classic shows anymore and because my boyfriend dropped his Netflix account, I can't watch them anymore. I can't find these cartoons in stores, I don't want to browse the internet to find something that I could watch off of them, I don't want to buy DVD sets, I should, and it should happen, watch them on TV again.
If there was some way to get the old Nickelodeon back, hell even the old Cartoon Network with Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls... Come on, do I need to continue writing a wall of why I feel that these shows need to come back?
The only cartoon that I'm satisfied in watching right now is South Park because their latest season has been quite entertaining. Family Guy and Simpsons I no longer really find a love with them because Family Guy is just heading into an odd direction and reuses their old material and Simpsons... ever since they lost their great writers, the show has never really been the same for me.
I hate TV right now.

Well, Sailor Moon is an animé, and at least for me, animé NEVER gets old! I still enjoy the same animé's that I liked when I was a kid.
And before anyone says anything, then no, I do not consider animé and cartoons as the same thing, simply because of the cultural differences that define the two genres.

It was Professor Farnsworth's clone, and Hermes' natural son. But I can only really think of a couple episodes where they were really featured.

If I remember correctly, most of the old Cartoon Network shows air on the Boomerang channel. Can't be too sure though, I haven't watched TV in a long time.

There's ALOT of animé's out there, so you can always find something new that might interest you. ^^
South Park doesn't get it's due! That show is complete genius. It's always dead on with today's celebrities and politics. I know the shock factor has been dead for quite sometime now but it still makes me laugh till I cry. At least the jokes in south park are actually relevant to the story and they don't give anyone a break. Not even Family Guy. Not to mention Matt, Trey and their crew only take 6 days to make an episode. That is epic all by itself.
It took time for Family Guy to grow on me but I did end up enjoying it. It's just not as good as South Park IMO. American Dad has surpassed it as well. Cleveland Show sucks, Gregory Allen Sucks, and I hate to say this but the Simpsons suck. But if it wasn't for the Simpson we wouldn't have all the cartoon comedies today. That being said it is time for the Simpsons to go.
Beavis and Butthead are the bomb and never should have been cancelled. I'm happy for it's revival. The twilight episode was fantastic. They are blasting away at exactly the reasons Twilight sucks an never should have become as big a deal as it became. And I find it to be awesome how they make fun of Jersey Shore every chance they get. Which I need to ask why do girls love Jersey Shore like they do? The show is fucking retarded!
Now on to Adult Swim! Surreal Humor isn't fo everyone. Watching this network will lower your IQ by 50 points. That being said I'm officially retarded myself. Aqua Unit Patrol Squad is funny to me and every once in awhile squidbillies has a decent episode. I can't explain why I like these shows.
One more thing. Does anyone still watch Looney Toons? I wish it came on more often myself. Looney Toons is and will always be my favorite. It doesn't contain bad language or dark humor but I can watch it all morning.
Notable 90's mentions; Johnny Bravo, Secret Squirrel, 2 stupid dogs, Dexter's Laboratory, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life.

Well although Sailor Moon was an example of mine, I still feel this way about Western cartoons that I liked.
Though I still think they're one in the same, just from different places.
To me, a romance film or a horror film is still a horror or romance film whether it orginated in Japan or America, only difference is the cultural influence and where they were produced, they're still in the same genre.

It depends on if it was actually good. I don't look for faults with a series, but if I don't feel like it's bringing the intrigue, fun etc that the old ones bring then that's different.
An example of this and it's not a cartoon, but bear with me please. Law and Order SVU has changed quite a bit from last season, Christopher Meloni is gone as well as B.D. Wong, but it's still great, actually better than it has been in quit a while, I really truly believe that it has improved.
If a show stays good or gets better, I think people will get behind it and while it may be true that many people hate change, I don't think people wanna see a series fail and look for things they don't like so they can dismiss it, after all they were fans of the original stuff, if it sticks to what made the original fun to watch and add new things into that formula, new and old fans can get behind it.

Died way before its time. They were setting up some classic comic stories; there were plans for Age of Apocalypse to happen.
Transformers: Prime's decent, so's GI Joe Renegades. Futurama & South Park are still pretty good. Would like to see Thundercats, haven't yet.
Out of FG, AD and CS, only AD gets me to chuckle every so often. I've mostly stopped watching.
Simpsons should've died at the start of the millenium.
There's the odd funny Robot Chicken skit.
Haven't seen the new Beavis & Butthead ep yet, but I grew up with them and currently enjoy the entire original series WITH music videos (the DVD releases are horrible by the way, but nothing can be done for it).

It's rather dark for a cartoon. I loved the show back then though
In defense of The Simpsons, the movie was very good, not excellent or groundbreaking like the series first three seasons.... it would have been the perfect chance to go out with a movie that is miles better than most seasons lately.
It is inevitable that the longer something is dragged out without a certain "incision" that renders the premise new the worse it will become. MK for example. MK is not groundbreaking, MK is brutal yes, but that's nothing in our contemporary society. MK only exists because the last game was made in a competent manner as a game.
Dragonball went to shit after the Freeza arc. That was already the extended story which Toriyama had to make because DBZ became a cash cow. Think, most of the most groundbreaking, acclaimed anime series adhere to a closed story and mostly follow the (usually) 26 episode format (NGE, Death Note, Samurai Champloo), or WERE THE FIRST of their KIND, may that be genre or a subset of the genre (DBZ, Fist of North Star).
So truly, saying the long runners are shit is like stating the obvious, of course they will not live up to the standards... that is the natural course of things. Except South Park, that was never good or groundbreaking to me. Same thing in movies? Scream movies.

The Scream movies did not revolutionize horror slasher movies one bit. Infact, it was not even original. Just because you are being self-referential, doesn't mean that it somehow evolves to a meta-level of interpretation. Besides, somebody has already done that poreviously. So good riddance.
