Actually, I thought I heard otherwise. However, it will not be traditional "B.C."
But instead, it will will play popular Xbox games, and that even for the 360 to play them, them would have to be re-made to be playable of the 360. 100% false. Confirmed to come out in November. I'm excited about it having the faster GPU this time once again.

This isn't a flame but the PS3 has the most powerful and faster GPU than the Xbox 360, The Xbox 360 GPU is at 500mhz the PS3 GPU is at 550mhz, And is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra's combined which is the most powerful GPU you can get, not only that but the Xbox 360 has to share it's graphical memory the PS3 doesn't, this is if the specs for both Xbox 360 and PS3 are 100 % correct as they claim, we will have to wait until the games come out to see if Sony and Nvidia can back up the specs with the games unlike the Emotion engine of the PS2, although looking at the Unreal and Fight night 3 demos which were in real time it seems that Sony's and Nvidia's claims have merit even more so if the Killzone 2 trailer was developed in realtime as Sony claim.

A) False. Every article I have read that is 100% concrete said the 360 GPU is stronger and the PS3 CPU is stronger. Just like last round.
B) When has SOny ever back up their claim? You remember the E3 they showed cgi movies for ps2 claiming the graphics would look like that and its in game? Did the ps2 graphics ever look like that? Not even close. You got jagged edges and Dreamcast graphics were better. Microsoft on the other hand showed cgi movies saying they hoped to acheive this graphic quality (ie. robot cgi) and guess what? Graphics on games such ass Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Doom III surpassed it. I'm not a fan boy, but Sony let me down last gen and they will do it again this gen. after already lying about their specs with fuzzy math, an uncompleted gpu with "specs" they will never accomplish, and lying about the cgi movies being in-game. If you stil thin Killzone was real time, you are a sad sony ("phony") fan boy even after the developers said it was 100% pure cgi movie. Hmmmmm? Sony saying its real or the people that actually made it saying its not? Again I'll stick with the 360 being it does have the stronger faster GPU again and MS backs up what they claim.

They will make every game BC. Every game. It might deal with downloadable patches, but who cares? If I want to play old xbox games, Ill play them on my old xbox. ANd a scam? Lame. Do you even know why its hard for them to make them all BC? You should look that up before you think its a "scam".

hah..thanks for the laugh.
"At launch, Xbox 360 will be backward compatible with the top Xbox games," Xbox PR manager Michael Wolf told GamesIndustry.biz today. "Our goal is to have every Xbox game work on Xbox 360. You will NOT need to purchase a new 'version' - your original games will work on Xbox 360."
Still seems shady to me. I mean, his statement is contradictory. " At lauch, 360 with be b.c. witht he TOP xbox games." Then he goes on to say there goal is to make EVERY game b.c. Thus, not all games will be b.c. I'm working on a bachelors in game and graphic design...Trust me, I know how hard it is for them to make it work...
It makes perfect sense to be considered a scam, jip, whatever you want to call it. What better way to make more money, then require people to pay for a recompiled game to play on the new system.

THank you for the laugh. Its not a scam. You're not going to have to buy a "new" version of the game to play it on the 360. Their goal IS to make every game BC as in probably free downloadable patches. All top selling games will be BC at launch then shortly, patches to download if you want to play them on your 360. Again, whats the big deal? I will play old xbox games on my xbox. The end. And with the Revolution, thats so revolutionary you can download the older nintendo games being I already have them on my xbox and it only cost me $50 for the mod. Wow.

Yeah, this forum has gone way down hill. Full of kids. So I'm gone. Oh by the way, it really shows your intelligence/credibility when you list "pot" as one of your interests. Real cool.
Fuck the numbers, lets just wait and see when the two come out, and I'll put a million dollar bet on it that you can't tell a difference between the two.

First off i'm not a sony fan boy, i'm more a PC fan boy so your point has no merit there, i go by FACTS presented to me, you take from it what you read and i do the same we will just have to wait untill the releases to know for sure, secondly it' has never been said that the killzone 2 trailer was 100% CGI show me the proof where they said it was, what was said was that it wasn't in game footage but a trailer of what the developers hope to be able to do and that it was created by the PS3 in real time, as i said in my post we will have to wait to see if it's true or not.

Also searching around on Gamespot's website, they actually have a side by side comparison of the Xbox 360, PS3, Nintnedo Revolution, and original Xbox specs. Which can be seen hereXbox 360 Spec Comparison

As far as I can tell it looks like the Xbox 360 is more powerful. Now I'm not trying to star a console war, but just IMO from looking at the specs I honestly don't see how Sony can claim the PS3 is more powerful. The only advantage I can see with the PS3 is that it suports Blue-Ray disks, has a sligtly faster GPU clock speed, slightly more memory bandwidth than the Xbox 360, and more IO ports, and 3 more bluetooth wireless controllers. Is that really going to make it more powerful than the Xbox 360? Most of those improved specs are nothing but junk. Really more IO ports, and a bigger disk size. Yeah the PS3 has a 50mhz advantage with it's GPU, but the PS3's L2 Catche is half the size of the Xbox 360, half the video memory, and no embeded video memory on the GPU. I honestly don't see how the PS3 is more power. Sony is claiming that they can get double the Floating point proceses than the Xbox 360 with 1/3 of the processor chip (Xbox 360 = (3)3.2Ghz processors; PS3 = (1)3.2Ghz processor) I honestly don't see it. Even if the single processor is multi-core, and can network is processes. It's still takes up bandwidth to transfer the data over a network which could even make processing a task even longer.

When I watched the presentation of the Xbox360 for E3 on G4TV the guy that was showing it off said that the Xbo360 will play the "best selling" Xbox titles. I think that is kinda dumb on Microsofts part. They should have designed it to play "all" the original XBox titles, not just the best selling titles. The Revolution and PS3 can both play all the previous console titles.

I agree with the person that said the PS3 controller has to much plastic comment. Hopefully thats not the final design. They would be making the same mistake that Microsoft made when they debuted the original XBox with that humongous controller. They need to trim down those handles.

The reason the Xbox 360 won't be completely backwards compatible is because the Xbox 360 uses a different processing chip thingy than the original Xbox, because they completely rebuilt it from the ground up. One of them uses Nvidia and the other uses something different...

I've heard this before somewhere else, supposedly Microsoft would have to make some kind of patch that would bridge the coding for the 2 systems becuase of 2 different graphics chips, and NVidia would need to be paid royalties, or whatever. But Microsoft has stated since the E3 that it's "goal is to have every Xbox game work on Xbox 360." I'm sure that they are just trying to be careful right now until everything is finalazed, becuase Sony claimed that the PS2 would be backwards compatiblewith PSX/PSOne; when a handful of game didn't work on it, and some people are still chewing Sony up over the cliam to this day, me included.

The reason Xbox 360 wont be fully backwards compatible is due to how the differnet chipsets work, The Nvidia chipset of the Xbox and the ATI chipset of the Xbox 360 use similar pixel shaders etc but the Chipsets have different ways of using ram and processing etc so that's why games wont work as they should, it depends on how the Xbox games were porgrammed to use the Nivida chipset if it's at a basic level that both Nvidia and ATi can use then your ok it's when certain functions that only the Nivida chipset uses that problems occur they would need to create patches that rewrite the chipset functions for the Xbox 360's ATI chipset.

The PS2 used emulation to run PSX/PS1 games that's why not all worked as good as they should have and some that didn't at all, the PS3 as far as i know doesn't use emulation so should have proper backwards compatibility.

You are a complete moron for thinking a system will bomb without full BC. If someone doesnt buy it because it doesnt have BC, they are an idiot. People are buying it because it is a next-gen. system playing next.-gen games.

1) I think there will be little - if any - perceivable difference in performance between the two systems.

2) I think Microsoft is gonna win in the end because of software. Not necessarily quality of software but quantity. It just seems like there are more exclusive Xbox games than there are for any other system.

Those are just my opinions. Correct me if I'm wrong - I don't give a fuck. I've all but retired from gaming anyway.

Something that people might have overlooked on the Xbox 360 is that it will be able to rip DVD's to the hard drive to be watch, same thing as the original Xbox's cd ripping function, but with movies. I remember hearing about it, but there hasn't been a lot of talk about it.
