How many would want Killer Instinct in Netherealm Studios' hands? Cause that franchise hasn't been around much since 1 & 2.

If they want to do a 3rd game, that'd be fine.

Admin Edit: Killer Instinct announced as Xbone exclusive at Microsoft E3 conference. Go nuts. http://ign.com/articles/2013/06/10/e3-2013-killer-instinct-announced-for-xbox-one

Neither WB or Netherealm Studios owns the license to the series. Microsoft is the one that owns the right to the Killer Instinct series.

What's mind boggling to me is that while a lot of people seem to accept that KI3 probably isn't going happen since Rare isn't capable of making it, I'm just surprised MS hasn't decided to release an XBL version of both KI 1&2 with online play since so many gamers actually want a KI3 in the first place.

I would love it if WB bought the rights to Killer Instinct and had NRS making it. Killer Instinct in the style of the new MK would be awesome, as long they kept the gameplay true to its predecessors. The wicked combo gameplay mustn't be lost or else it would no longer be Killer Instinct. It is why KI became so popular. But mixing that with the new graphics and the storytelling potential NRS has shown in the new MK, it would be awesome!

Oh Orchid, I so miss you.

Killer Instinct deserves a chance to come back. Hope it won't be too bloody. Of course, the gameplay must be kept as it was and maybe some actors can play the characters. NRS, we ask you to buy Killer Instinct and that would design a 3rd game.

Orchid and Jago are awesome.

I have fond memories of them, however like the older MKs I probably wouldnt enjoy that that much these days.

A new one made by NRS I'd be all for!

Even if KI3 would be made, I highly doubt it will be able to catch the spirit of the 90s insanity and creativity. Also soundtrack quality will be under the big question and music wasn't the last thing that made me a KI fan.

I've never played the game, but I've seen it on Youtube a lot.

May I ask this... With Microsoft still owning the franchise and they're the ones that helped made the series really awesome, you really want a different franchise touching the series and possibly ruining it?

Take a look at Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon... Those franchises were once owned by awesome developers and once the series got in the hands of different companies, they trashed it.

Everything after Angel of Darkness and before the newest one coming out soon, those games were not that good. Even Angel of Darkness wasn't that great either, but it at least had a beautiful soundtrack and a neat story.

Crash, those games for the PS2 weren't even Crash as well as Spyro. Those games were not the cheery, cartoony games I used to play back in the 90s.

Just think, I know the series was awesome, I could totally tell by the reaction and the ever so occurring topic, but do you really think that if this series fell into the hands of a different developer that they would bring back what you guys all cheerished with this game?

Who knows, they could put their own touch to the game and ruin it right there and then.

I would love if KI3 happened. I still only have the 1st one on SNES, I also have it on my Phone, it's a kickass game. It's so fucking hard though lol.

But like others have said, It probably won't happen.

Jago fucking rocks btw lol

The very least they can do is port 1 and 2 to LIVE and give us online.

Listen to Lady Gaga's song "Monster", and tell me this wouldn't work as an Orchid/Saberwulf KI3 song...

Not to mention the m-m-m-monster combo reference...

Rare is a shell of what it used to be. It wouldn't really matter what company works on it at this point, as long as they stay true to the series. Most of the developers at Rare left and went to other companies. I don't even think they had a fraction of the same team that worked on the original Perfect Dark, work on Perfect dark Zero. Most of them went to the developer that does the Time Splitter series.

MS basically just bought Rare so they could own the rights to their games, even though they don't seem to have any interest in making new games (not just for Rare but other developers and franchises). A little off topic but a lot of gamers actually want to a new Mech Assault game. Which IMO was one of the first and best examples of console online gaming. It just seems like MS is in a habit of buying up franchises just so they can sit on them so other developers can't use them (kind of like web domain squatting).

I also don't think it would be too far of a strech to say Netherrelm should work on it, since Midway actually did published KI, and they get the violence aspect IMO.

KI3 would sell me an X-Box system - granted that it was good. That's how much I want to see it happen. Go for it, NRS; nobody else seems to want to do anything with it.

Oh, Killer Instinct had an awesome soundtrack. I still listen to it now and then and still loving it. ^^
And to this day, Killer Instinct is still one of my favourite fighting games. Sometimes I wonder if it is my most favourite fighting game, and I gotta say, if they made a new game with updated graphics and gameplay, it probably would become my most favourite fighting game, even surpassing Mortal Kombat.

Through my younger years, I wondered where the "We are controlling transmission" in Glacius' theme song of the same name came from. Then one day I watched The Outer Limits for the first time and was like WHAAAAAA??? during the opening.

Such a wonderful little universe. Evil corporations in gaming can and will be responsible for anything; killer cyborgs, dinosaurs, the living dead, mutants...I don't even question it when it's all together. I just go with it. Oh, those wacky bastards at Ultratech.

Which Killer Instinct had the better soundtrack though?

For instance, I prefer Fulgore and Glacius' themes from 2/Gold over the first.

Glacius' reminded me of Mortal Kombat so much....

Call me a fanboy... which I might be XD ... but I love both soundtracks! I can't decide which is better, because they are both so awesome!

So I'm sorry for what I'm about to say, but I have never played KI.

Being a Brony, I've decided to tolerate your lack of familiarity with KI.

Fun fact: unless you have a nice PC and MAME, you will only play inferior versions of the games. I still haven't been able to play the original arcade versions and it pisses me off!

If Rare isn't doing KI3, they should stop hinting on it.

They so need to bring that game. And they need to bring new characters into the game.

Old Characters like....

- Jago
- Orchid
- Fulgore
- Glacius
- TJ Combo
- Kim Wu
- Chief Thunder
- Riptor
- Saberwulf
- Spinal
- Cinder

Minus Tusk & Maya. They both probably served their purpose since KI2.

What new char. would you want in the game, if rebooted into 3, NRS style?
