I think you meant 135 :P dan hardy really needs this win considering he is on a four figt loss streak. I met him at my local gamestation along with paul taylor and they are really nice guys. Donald Cerrone is a force to be reckoned with. His leg kick are just spectacular and his stand up has always impressed me. Hope the cowboy wins!

Indeed. I always thought Hardy was a little overrated. I like the guy but the only time I've seen him look great in the UFC was in his fight against Mike Swick.

Carlos Condit is actually pretty good but him asking for a title shot is a bit stupid as he has to get through the biggest obstacle in the WW division. Jon Fitch. But Jon Fitch won't get a title due to his boringfight style yes the guy is talented but he needs to score a knockout or submission. So Jon Fitch won't get a title shot but if you want a title shot you have to go through him. Ironic right :)

And in that fight mike swick was trying a new weight class if i am not mistaken. the whole fight they were saying he didnt look healthy.

He looked resilient against GSP, but still got destroyed.

I really like Dan, but i think he would be better in a different company/

I think he'd do better in a different training camp.

MMA is shrinking! You sir know absolutely nothing! The MMA industry is the fastest growing sport with tickets for 55000 people selling out in less than 30 monutes. And refereeing is a joke? Oh please! This is one of the hardest sports to referee for therefore they need to have a good understanding of the fighters condition and whether they're good to carry on. You cannot compare the WWE to MMA as the WWE is sports entertainment and therefore staged. with many celebrities attending UFC events how is it shrinking? With the likes of David Spade in the crowd really shows how the fan base has grown. The last time we saw someone famous in the WWE was Mike Tyson who is now regularly praising the MMA industry.

While MMA under the hokey "unifed rules" appears to be gaining steam across Europe, and UFC as a promotion is doing pretty well in the US, a large part of the MMA world is the Japanese scene, and it has severely decreased in popularity over the past ten years. Sengoku have papered up to half of their arenas with complimentary tickets, and still not been able to get full houses. When you look at gate sales and television ratings, you can see a trend of the Japanese public having turned back to boxing massively, and even pro wrestling for their fix of violence. So while some sectors of the sport are growing, others aren't. Overall MMA isn't doing too badly, but it's not the unstoppable juggernaut that Zuffa wants you to believe it is.

"Oh please!" doesn't do much to change my mind about MMA refereeing being shitty on the whole either. As much as I've always loved MMA, it just is. Partially because it is actually a hard sport to ref, but also because the referees can't get on the same page and decide if they're there to referee an entertainment extravaganza or a professional sport. It's just incredibly inconsistent.

And if you don't see the parallels between WWE and UFC then I don't know what to tell you. WWE books matches they know will draw. UFC opts to book matches they know will draw over matches which are theoretically important to "rankings" but which won't be exciting. That's not how you run a professional sport like Tennis or Golf, that's how you run a pro wrestling promotion. WWE also hypes fights by forcing feuds. UFC does this too by feeding their fighters lines to garner heat for their fights. Every aspect of the biz is exactly the same. Legitimacy is just UFC's gimmick, but they're no more legit than promotions like Pride were, and those promotions had their fair share of shady business happenings. If UFC was really not just sports entertainment, then they'd adopt a proper full blown ranking system in the manner of Shooto. But seeing as watching two collegiate wrestlers try to out wrestle each other in every other fight doesn't really draw, UFC is going to stick with their pro wrestling model of Dana and Silva booking whichever fights will make them coin.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's all entertainment at the end of the day man. Ask someone who fights at that level and they'll probably tell you themselves.

agreed with last paragraph perfect example is Jon Fitch not getting a title shot as since before feb he was clearly number 2 to GSP.

Lol Davis wasn't going to beat Rashad. But yeah, I just found out he pulled out just a few minutes ago. Im calling Evans Vs Machida 2. EDIT- Well I was close. The UFC first offered the fight to Machida but he and his camp turned it down. According to Dana, Machida accepted the fight at first but then his management called him and said he would only fight if he gets paid the same amount that Anderson Silva makes. Dana pretty much said F that so now we got Evans vs Ortiz 2. Tito actually turned down the fight too at first. But now he's officially in.

Tell me if Herb Dean isnt a shitty ref

I can understand why he stopped the fight cause as Hendo caught Fedor with the uppercut he went limp and Herb wanted to save him some punishment but i guess he did stop the fight early as the other punch woke Fedor up. I wouldn't call him a crap referee cause he is pretty good. Just this one time he messed up. Also who here is from england and planning on going to UFC 138? I mean the card is crap as they couldnkt give us one title shot but instead give 136 two title shots. I'm still heading off though for the experience!

Well, she's a sun god with the power of the 13 sacred techniques of the Celestial Brush and is powered by the spirit of glorious Nippon.

Anderson Silva looks like he's just a man. Like, he isn't a spirit wolf or anything crazy like that, so it seems like it's a pretty obvious win for Okami.

Anyone here looking forward to UFC 134?

My boy Forest is going to rip Mauricio tomarrow! I just hope Forest does work on his stamina though. He honestly always looks gassed after the first round.

About little to none. The only way Anderson will lose is if he beats himself if you know what I mean. As much as I am a fan of him he always seem to look like a douche in the cage when things go his way, taunting his opponents and such.

If you haven't heard, Frankie Edgar thinks MK is better than SF. It isn't his favourite fighting game of all time, though. Check out the thread for more on that.

Haven't been able to settle on whether or not this is too ridiculous - or not enough. I guess it continues the tradition of the eternal playground question.

I am an avid MMA fan and for me, the sport will continue to be a great one in the years to come. 20 or more years ago, who would have thought that a Jiu Jitsu black belt can fight a wrestler, right? MMA is so dynamic that tagging it as a boring type of sport is really impossible. Way back in the early or mid 90s, MMA matches are more like televised street fights but now, it has become more technical, scientific and most of all, exciting. My favorite fighter is Roy Nelson of the UFC heavyweight division. For me he has the best chin in MMA. His body is not that of a typical athlete but man, this dude will knock you out cold once he catches you..
