mortal kombat is the best fighting game ever
MKSECRETS Wrote: DrCube Wrote: Damn. You've gotten me all nostalgic for Pit Fighter. In my 20 years of playing videogames, I doubt I have ever laughed as hard as when, while playing Pit Fighter in co-op mode, I'd get the CPU to double-team my pal BTW, I don't know how I forgot to mention this before, but MKT was ALSO a huge disappointment taking into consideration everything that was promised. |
PF is supposed to be on the new Midway compilation, right? Or am I mistaken?
MKT was a marketing device. Trying to further milk the MK cow at that time. Anyone remember when MK was a franchise that could be milked like that? Damn, those were good times.

1. I didn't flame anyone.
2. Other than "omg it's got gore and blood", I haven't heard a any reason why MK would be a good *fighting game*. I like MK very much, I own all MK games, but technically there are better games out there. That's all. And I am not the only one in this thread who thinks so.

Calling Siduu that is almost a compliment compared to some other "descriptions" that come to mind.

What I love about MK is mainly just the look of the game and the projectiles.
I hardly ever do the fatalities, I probably won't ever play the mini games and I really don't pay too much attention to the story.
What I like to do is go straight to Arcade mode and just play through the game.
But since that's the main thing I look for in a fighting game, the "fighting".
I find my self drawn to the more well developed "fighting" games like Tekken, VF and SC.
So My list of favorites goes like this.
Tekken 5 = It already looks good enough to be #1.
Tekken 4 = I play this one the most.
Tekken Tag = I love this game.
SC2 = I love the freedom of this game.
VF4 = I like it a lot, but sometimes It bores me.
DOA3 = I love how smooth this game plays, but the easy reversals and the extra stupid computer annoy me.
MKDA = I like this game, but the fighting engine doesn't keep me coming back. I hardly ever play MKDA any more.
I don't hate any of these games, I like them all. That's just the order in which I tend to play them from most to least.

MK is the greatest thing to happen to fighting games since the original SFII.

I disagree mk was better before SF11 came out

Wow, they're by eleven already?

Back in the day, If I were to see an MK arcade machine next to a street fighter arcade machine.
I'd pick MK 7 times out of 10.
It's just the look of the game and the uppercuts that sold me.
But I like street fighter better now.
That's because when MK2 was new, I really didn't know about the complexities of the game.
I could do some nice combos, but I didn't really understand the whole depth thing.
Now because I do understand it much better, I prefer the street fighter games hands down.
But I still play the old MKs once in a while.
I started to understand depth with Tekken 3, then I got the idea much better with Tekken Tag.
I didn't really understand depth till Tekken 4 and VF4 came out.
I could do all the complex moves and combos, but I didn't understand the purpose or reasons for them to be there.
I learned the details here at MKO and at Tekken Zaibatsu.

I love mortal kombat and it is probably tied for my fav. fighting game with SCII, but honestly people, Super Smash Brothers Melee has more depth in the fighting engine than MK does.
It's just the simple truth.
The game doesn't have to be the best to be your favorite.
