Nice one! I'd be interested in hearing more about people's ranking exploits!

When I played #1, he made me set my filter to the Dutch language, it appears next to nobody uses it. so

Region - Same (North America)

Language - Dutch (eliminates pretty much everybody)

Rank limit - any

so it will link you only with people in North america who are searching for a dutch languaged preference, not many by understanding.

Hes in there all the time, he has to be exploiting with another system because i played amatures who were better than him, hes jsut really good at airial combos and im really bad at ground defense.

So likely, that language exploit with multiple systems got him to where he is.

They really need to fix the online component in this game. I had to turn on arcade request just to get into a match.

Wait what? So this guy has that many wins because he only plays Dutch players? Man, I hate it when top ranked players abuse the system. And ragequitters. I fucking hate ragequitters. I'll never understand people who get that frustrated over a game. Sheesh

Also, you bring up another point. Those damn aerial combo tag outs. You have a 67% chance of continuing a combo and you build a tremendous amount of meter. I think its pretty damn cheap.

btw, people are already figuring out how to beat Sentinel. His biggest flaw imo is that he doesn't have a good approach.

Oh, and for all the people who think everything about this game is broken check out this article. SRK lays down the law brah

Incredible Chun Li combo video!

Warning: The combos in this video are almost pornographic in their insanity. I advise you to get a towel, lock the door, close the blinds, and to put all the pictures of your loved ones face down before viewing this video.

The combo was pretty orgasmic, but I only fap to Viper. Maybe Dante if I've had a few drinks.

How is that an exploit, though? Does the ranking system give some sort of preferencial boost for extreme minorities, or are you saying he's taking extreme advantage of a small community of unskilled Dutch immigrants?
Do you know how the rankings work? I would've thought there'd be some component that forces a quantity priority, along with any win percentage advantages.

Is this kinda thing at all related to the vague complaints about online people have, or is that more about framerates and lag etc?

Man. There was nothing more aggravating than hearing people bitch about Sentinel the first day they got the game! Someone figures out there might be a counter strategy, after a few days with all the new characters in the new game? COULDN'T HAVE SEEN THAT COMING!!!

I do not like M.O.D.O.K because of how he looks. I know that's not a fair reason but...*eugh*. Super big, bulky head/body.
His bottom looks like he could be on a toile...let me stop. :[
But I'm sure with some good training he might turn out well.

Now, he would look more cool like this,

I'm already getting bored of this game.

It really does need extra modes, unlockables, and a story mode. Nothing to do but fight repetitively.

Could have been a downloadable game with this much content.

Isn't it the purpose of a fighting game? What do you think you would do in a story mode aside from fighting? Weren't MvC 1 and 2 the same? Gosh.

Some intellectual stimulation besides pure button mashing is what a story mode would do.

Unlockables would give you something to fight for.

And survival mode "high scores" would add replay value.

This is next-gen and $60 worth. No, MVC1 and 2 were not the same.

Unlockables would have been nice, but fighting games are all about the fighting. If the gameplay delivers, there should be infinite replayability.

Fighting games, true, thrive on good fighting mechanics, but variety for a variety of preferences, play styles, and situations always goes to ensure that a fighting game is more than just the same thing over and over.

Look at the game Soul Blade for the original Playstation. That came out in 1996, 15 years ago. Here's what it had:
- Three unique costumes per character, including four color swaps for existing costumes.
- Arcade Mode, Versus Mode, Training Mode, Survival Mode, Time Attack, Team Battle
- An incredibly robust Edge Master Mode, which was like a story mode, each with chapters, context-specific battles and conditions, and a ton of rewards and unlockables
- Two real-time endings per character that involve player input to change the fighter's fates
- Seven unlockable weapons per character, each with different stats for Power, Durability, Weight, Strength, and Defense, everyone one of which affects gameplay (speed, attack power, health regeneration, etc.) and must be unlocked by clever, unique methods in Edge Master Mode.
- Three separate soundtracks to the game: Arcade mode, Arrange Mode, and Khan Super Session for the home port.

Why on earth does Marvel vs Capcom 3 have significantly LESS features than a fighting game from 15 years ago? And many of its features are excluded and withheld for premium DLC instead of being included in the game proper?

Yes, a fighting game lives and dies by its fighting, but we're 15 years since Soul Blade gave me a 20+ hour story mode with a variety of options, modes, costumes, endings, unlockables, secrets, and much more.

Ok, I guess to each his own, I play fighting games only for the gameplay, I really don't care about stages, alternate costumes, story mode or any other mode aside from arcade, vs, and practice, and online of course, so MvC3 has enough for me to keep playing it. Although, not so long ago, I used to care about that stuff.

I've never really had any fun or interest in any of those modes so huzzah for my clean, minimalist MvC3.

It's not just a matter of whether you like alternate modes or unlockable content or not. This game costed us $60. For that amount of money, if repetitive fighting is all they gave us to do, then at the very least there should have been a ton of more characters and arenas to do so with.

With this amount of content, the game could have easily been downloadable instead for half the price.

It costed me $80 because I live in Panama, lol just saying. Ok, you didn't have to buy the game, you know? You could have rented it first to see if you would like it or not. Anyways, Capcom thanks you for buying the game!grin

I remember that. I even have a few articles saved that say that it would have a "big, deep story mode" and.... that didn't happen. At all.

A "Living Comic" with a deep story

Seth Killian supposedly said it would have "the most comprehensive story mode ever" for a fighting game. Where did THAT promise go? (maybe they'll release it as DLC...)

If the online mode worked, Id be inclined to agree with you, but it really fucking doesn't and we aren't all blessed with friends that actually like fighting games. This game should have at least had Survival mode.

After Mortal Kombat's reveal of 300 unique single-player challenge modes, in addition to a supposedly 15+ hour story mode, I just gotta stop and do a bit of gloating.

... Marvel vs Capcom 3 is just so bare-bones. Yes, it has good fighting, but that's the bare minimum standard for a good fighting game. There's practically nothing else to the game, especially when a large part of the content itself is locked away from early adopters.

I found it telling that at my nearest game store, there are already five used copies there for resell, yet the game is barely a few weeks old. Who knows? Maybe "Shadow Mode" will dramatically make the game better for those who can't play online very well (which is most people, according to reports). But I'm doubtful.

So... 300 challenge modes, a 15+ hour story, a vast Krypt full of unlockables, a variety of versus modes, AND good gameplay (*fingers crossed*)... sorry, MvC3. I waited 10 years for you, but you're not worth it, not when a tastier meal is on the horizon.

I think the better question would be -- where did that promise come from?!

I don't know who would honestly expect this game to have anything like a decent storymode. Can't say I came across any references to the contrary in the lead-up, and certainly didn't come across any evidence of its existence. That kind of thinking just isn't how they role.

Fans of these games can't concentrate on linear conversations about things that don't involve flashing lights, staring at pictures and/or imaginary stats, apparently... Grumble grumble/not liking lack of answers...

I've yet to play this game; in fact, I have no system to play it on. However, for those who're complaining about buying it just because random articles promised them things that didn't wind up in the final build (story mode, etc), well, nobody put a gun to your head to reserve an advanced copy. You could've waited a week, two weeks, maybe even longer, so that you could read some reviews and learn what you could about MvC3 instead of running on promises and/or guesses to fuel your purchase. 60$ is a lot of money to blow, so with that being said, you should've done your research first before buying it and realizing that it didn't have all you wanted in the first place.
Considering all of us were around when we heard various promises made for features in MK games that either weren't that great or never appeared until the next one, you'd think you'd have learnt something from that.

... And that's precisely what I did. I played it second-hand at a friend's, looked at all the reviews, and waited to see just how much content was locked on the disc (answer: a LOT).

So, yeah, I WANTED it to be good, but I waited, read up on it, played it myself, and ultimately decided to give it a pass until it fixes itself up.
