I hera the gameplay is fun, but:

Can anyone tell me if the game is really worth the +$60?

Does the game feel incomplete? Like, lack of arenas, lack of extra content, lack of modes, etc that should have been there already?

Am I better off waiting a few more months for a cheaper used copy?

I will definitely not be buying DLC for this one.

Looks like a fun game though, so, I want to give it a shot (STORM!!!!).

imo, no game is worth $60 bucks, but MvC3 comes close. Rent it if you're not sure, the game is so damn fun! If you get friends to come over you can play this game well into the night. Its kind of like Smash Bros. in that sense. One of the best multiplayer games out there

Just so everyone knows: I don't have the game yet. It's been in transit since Monday, and since the coming Monday is a holiday, I'm not going to see my copy any earlier than Tuesday. Thankfully, God blessed me with good friends who are willing to play fighting games with me, so I'm not in total agony right now.

If you can't explain something better, that's a sure sign that your position might not be the right one.

It's not even like there aren't fair counter-arguments available. A lot of people feel that these marketing tactics are unethical, but they're also benign. Outside of creating negative attitudes towards the industry, the additional revenue Capcom reaps from doing this will lead to future DLC characters, which any honest fan will admit is more desirable than saving a few dollars and having a slightly more ethical industry. I'll even put myself in that category.

Mick's post was solid, and everything he said is true. I don't even disagree that Capcom has a right to withhold partial use of their product. My problem with selling on-disc content is that it relies on deception. If more people knew they were buying content they already owned, there would be a larger response petitioned against it. Unfortunately, gaming-ignorant parents don't browse enough forums.

Given the time I've played the game and all the media I've seen, this has not shown to be true.

Well, there are already dozens of videos of infinites in MvC3 in the first few days alone.

Wait, do you mean 100% combos or genuine infinities? Because yes, there are tons of 100% combos, but they're incredibly costly. Doing a 100% combo in the beginning of the match could drain you of tools and ultimately get you killed later.

If you're talking about actual infinite combos, combos which are performed strictly with standard inputs, there have been very few discovered so far, and the ones that have been are incredibly situation-sensitive. You can't just bust them out under any circumstances. You have to get the spacing right and then time your inputs perfectly... over and over and over again. It's not as easy as advertised. And remember: you have three life bars. Unlike MKD where one Bo Rai Cho infinite does not equal the end of the match, the game has implemented tools to turn things around in these scenarios.

Truth be told, if a storm player is able to pin you against the corner and perform her infinite loop on you, that means you weren't managing your space right. If you're zoning is good, your opponent shouldn't be getting free infinites on you. I've watched the tournaments, and people have been incredibly successful in this game without Sentinel. The cries of "broken!" are based on exaggerations and misunderstandings.

I'm not calling the game "Broken", just "unbalanced". Some characters are, in my opinion, clearly overpowered compared to others (Hulk and Sentinel, chiefly). Concerning infinites, I've seen videos involving X-23, Captain America, Dante, Chris Redfield, Felicia, Morrigan, Hulk, Sentinel, Trish, Akuma, Haggar, Deadpool, and Amaterasu (so far) all pulling off simple moves that, if you just get a rhythm going, puts the opponent in infinite stagger until that character is defeated or can manage to tap in a tag-partner. I'm not talking about long, complicated combos; just simple one or two button attacks that never give the opponent a chance to recover. (though to be fair, most of the time they're in X-Factor mode).

Still, the game is fun... but it's more of a "Smash Bros" type of fun, I think. It's big, loud, flashy, but also dumb and a bit simple. And Smash Bros. at least has an extremely robust single-player experience, rather than being something you probably can't enjoy for long unless you play online.

The game has been out for five days, and people are already calling it unbalanced. This makes no sense unless everyone has been taking their Acme Brand Omniscience PillsTM without my knowing.

Fighters evolve. People will find ways to make Sentinel obsolete. Wong is already hell bent to destroy Sentinel.

But for now, Sentinel is the only unbalanced character. Just found a combo with Sentinel that OHKOs every character and its ridiculously easy to pull off.

c.M, Launcher, L, Rocket Punch, Air Hyper (forgot the name.) If done with Lvl. 3 X-Factor it OHKOs any character. But even without X-Factor his BnB combos take a shit ton of damage.

c.M, Launcher, M, H, S, land, Rocket Punch, Sentinel Force = about 75% give or take. Haha, its insane!

No, it's not. Know why? Because this game's online netcode and online features is the worse piece of shit since a piece of shit itself! It is fucking horrible and virtually unplayable. Online options are very limited.

So save your $ until the game is cheaper and hopefully capcom would patch this piece of shit what they call online by then. I can't believe how online multiplayer can be this fucking bad in this day and age, especially for a game this huge. GG capcom.

Here's the link to the online discussion on srk: http://shoryuken.com/f340/mvc-3-netcode-265737/
so you can see for yourself how bad it is.

People seem to be impossible to please these days. I'm glad people take the loudest most raging internet fan's opinions with a grain of salt, because if they actually attempted to please every single one of you, the game would never get released.

My hands cramp so bad when I play. I honestly have no idea what I am doing.

also how's the online play when the game does not crash or disconnect. is there any slowdown on the flashyier moves and whatnot or is online smooth as a whistle.

the reason why i asked because i don't own this game but will eventually.

Idk about you but when I get into a game online I have no issues with it. The game runs smooth as can be. Maybe your connection sucks, but I don't know for sure.

Online is great. and it seems that if your NAT is on open there shouldn't be much trouble about connecting to ranked matches.

Obviously not, not sure why you're acting like a dick about this.

This DLC system is FINE for me. It's not OK for you. Just because I can't make you see why it's fine to me doesn't mean I'm wrong, that's ridiculous.

Just like you can't explain to me why it's a bad idea to you, doesn't mean you're wrong.

Lol its funny to read this. If everyone is so pissed over the DLC then they shouldnt buy them. Capcom will pick up on it and do something about it. Or hack it. If the big whoop is that the characters are in the disc and ppl are pissed they have to pay to unlock the content... then just go around it and hack it.

Personally, I dont mind. For the price of a shitty sandwich I can have Jill. In fact, i'm happy we have the opportunity to have more and more characters in the future.

I think we're a bit spoiled, especially with digital goods, getting it all for free. Unfortunately, thats not how the world works.

You'd be surprised, you don't have to like X-23 as a character, but if you put some time into playing her, she is very good.

Right? I like her a lot actually!

I wish the DLCs would have been all pre-used characters lol... particularly the ones that have been in plenty of Marvel and VS games like Storm, Magneto, Sentinel, Chun Li, Felicia, Tron and Akuma. (yes.... im gonna get a lot of hate for saying Akuma.... but its the truth! he'd make a good DLC!)

I've used every character and yes I agree, she is very good, excellent rushdown character but I'm afraid I won't like her enough to really learn how to play her.

If it was at budget price of $30-40, I might recommend it. But for a full-priced game? I don't think it's worth it. Yes, it is fun, and for many that'll be all that matters, but if you want and demand more than the most basic of modes and online, I'd wait. Knowing Capcom and their habit of re-releasing games with all the characters and content fans INITIALLY wanted later on is a strategy my gut tells me they'll implement again. It depends on how much patience you have, I guess, and how much you want to see the epic battle between M.O.D.O.K. and Crimson Viper go down.

I refuse to support Capcom's fighting games ever since Street Fighter 4. I bought the game and was pretty happy with it. But I was pretty pissed about having to buy the alternate costumes. I stomached it, but then they went and released Super Street Fighter 4 because they said the additional characters wouldn't work as DLC (after they initially said they would be). On top of that they when and charged for the additional alter costumes again.

It's not just their fighting games either. They when and charged for the online mode for resident evil 5, and I'm pretty sure I read some where that they where charging for some additional modes for Lost Planet as well. It seems ever since the digital distribution has taken off Capcom has taken to nickel and dimming it's customers.

I for one am tired of it. Especially for like you said, a number of the content thar is already on the disk, it's just locked and is going to be charged a premium for.

With MK coming out in 2 months I'll gladly wait for that, over supporting Capcom by buying what sounds like an incomplete game just to hold me over.

I know the feeling cuz I have the same problem, except I do play with relatives sometimes, but it's not the same cuz they're mostly kids. : (

I think playing online will never beat playing with your local friends, all in the same room, chatting, laughing together, eating a bunch of snacks and sodas, then having some playful sex afterwards... Ok... scratch the last part maybe, but the rest is all true!

So I spent my weekend playing this game. It's okay. Just okay. The difference in power of most characters is clear, and GOD can the spammers spam. I'm glad I didn't buy it.

Also, the DLC scheme is going to kill any respect I have for Capcom surrounding this game
