Big News Concerning Pride, Japanese MMA and TV Broadcasting
Fuji TV has cancelled their contract with Pride FC, more specifically DSE; the company which runs Pride. DSE also runs Zero One. Inoki, a cohort of DSE also involved with Japanese wrestling is also a major player.

I'm not aware of the specfics, but I do know that A LOT of heat has been going around in regards Yakuza involvement in DSE's business relations. Shit is reallying hitting the fan. Here are some links.

This is both agrivating and exciting, IMO. Fighters may be jumping ship to other orgs. K-1 has all the money, so I expect many to jump there. Could be good for UFC, as well; as long as Dana stops shelling out all that money on bullshit fights like Hughes/Gracie.

Though, Pride could be going down. Which is too bad. I hope they clean up, they are a great org.

No, because we have TONIGHT!! WOOT!!! tongue

UFN is on spike tonight, card looks pretty good. Silva/Leben is fight of the night, IMO.

Looking forward to Cummo's fight, too. I'd like to say Gurgel wins his match with Hominick, but Gurgel is so beat up, I dont' even know if he has knees anymore. sad

Last Thursday Dan Severn came to our town and held a clinic which I participated in. It was pretty cool. I'll put the link of the group picture on my profile on here once I get it. Whose hyped for UFC 62?

Penn should have won but he was holding back. Also, I can't wait for Lesnar to be in next year's Hero tournament for K-1.

PFC vs UFC is going to be hott.

I think Penn at sum point pulled a muscle or seperated his rib, and was rooting for him. Very upset with baby j but at the same time he made Matt Hughes look like he was just a mediocure opponent with his striking. I picked rashad to beat lambert, Melvin over his opponent, Loiseau over swick. Loved George St. Pierres comment at the end hopefully he stomps Hughes the next time they meet. Also im guessing and hoping that Anderson Silva beats Franklin (should be a good fight).

Anyone see the Pride openweight Grand Prix. I picked Crocop to win and won $1000 ;). He dismantled Wandy and the beat Barnett, very awesome night for me. Id love to see him or Fedor destroy the overconfident Tim Silvia.

PS- You would think there would be more MMA fans out there since MK is pretty much blood bath.

I thought the same thing too, about MK/MMA. I have my opinion on that matter, and it's not that tactfull, so I'll reserve it, lol.

I'm glad Hughes won. Simply because GSP deserved a title shot even before Penn vs. GSP. Penn needs to drop down to 155 and clean house, too. And wtf is up with Pulver getting layed out in under a minute? Makes me wonder, had Imanari not gotten sick, if he could have taken him - would have been a great win for his career.

Lesnar in K1 will be interesting. Dudes arms are long as fuck, lol. He's like a monkey.

Interesting past few weeks for MMA. CC takes the OWGP crown, and the world shall rejoice, haha - nice job on the grand, by the way. The WWGP has been off the hook, too. FSN dropped the ball on the last show, though. Hope it turns out better next time. Meh.

Edit: Oh, and is anybody enjoying this season of TUF as much as I am? The fights are great, holy crap. Great rolling, spacing, they actually listen to their corners, it's good shit.

Thx i spent the grand quite nicely....... I always liked the TUF series since it started except for season 2 iono why. THe comeback is the best one yet, fucken shonie carter and his bling and tight shorts lol. Team mojo is the way better team though IMO.

The fights are much better than season 3 and these guys all can pull off wins unlike useless guys like Ross. But Bisping was pretty damn good and him and Hamill would have been a good fight, although i still seen Bisping winning that one.

WTF is up with Jeremy Jackson, the guy apparently lives in his truck or w/e and he goes and sleeps with sum lifeguard....IDIOT.

We should start the picks for who we think is gonna win the divisions. I got fellow Canadian Patrick Cote (although he has to beat the toughest competition, ) for middleweight and Lyttle for welterweight. The only thing is the winners are most likely gonna get their asses whooped by both champs IMO.

UFN is also coming around the corner and we'll see ken retire once and for all. He is gonna have to come out swinging to have a shot at beating tito, but i just don't see him winning, i see it going the same way it went last time, Tito will ground in pound a stoppage or get the decision.

Also my picks for UFC64 are:
Muscle Shark over Kenny- Because he is a beast and should be hard to submit, i think he'll win be decision, he should control the fight depending on his stand up.

Anderson over Rich- Good fight could go either way, Both are really good i like the spider though and im guessing he'll win by submission or by KO, really doubt itll go to a decision.

Since Big Show cannot join UFC because of the 265 lbs cutoff to take the belt away from Tim Sylvia, maybe Paul Whight (Big Show) can join PFC (Pride) and beat some heavyweights over there. What about Kane going MMA?

Also, who would be good from the WWE to go to the UFC? Orton?

WWE people in Pride or UFC is kinda dumb because they haven't trained in more than one mma, if some one like matt hughes or tito ortiz got em to the ground the match would be over. Plus half of the WWE guys are probly jacked up on sum stuff that they shouldn't. Big Show wouldn't be that great either, all the person would have to is survive and give him viscous leg kicks and hed go down. Id like to see Fedor Emilianenko vs. One of those spirit fags lol. Id pay my grand to watch that!

Show would get his ass handed to him. There is no point in comparing the entertainers in E, to the fighters of Pride or UFC. Even a C level, local fighter would rape almost everybody in any wrestling org, except MAYBE those who have trained specificly to be a fighter. These guys train four to five days a week for years just to beat the shit out of people. They are proficient at it, lol. Can you imagine wtf would happen if CC threw a leg kick to Show's knee? Show would be crippled.

In some news, Sakuraba was rushed to a hospital after a hard sparring session, of which he was dizzy and vomitting. He has no brain damage, but there is some damage to the stem of his brain, or abouts that area. It supplies blood to his brain, thus oxygen. His daily activities are fine, but he is expected to take some time off. Though, he is also expected to be able to fight again, hopefully on Heros December card.

That sucks for Sakuraba he is an awesome fighter. Guys in WWE aren't really trained to be fighters, though im sure some can fight. They are outmatched in MMA mostly because they don't train in any styles. They are basically built guys who are more athletic than good at fighting. i don't watch WWE that much so i don't really see who would be good or not but most of the ones i do no would get there asses kicked in a fight.

Yeah, sucks for Saku. He'll come around, though. I made it sound like the sparring is what caused the injury, but that's not what happend. They examied him, and found that the injury had been in development for a while. Possibly dating back to his wrestling years Previous examinations have shown no brain damage. Sorry if I confused anyone. Often times my Inglish and sentence structure isn't all that great, lol.

TUF tommarrow, peeps. Looking forward to another good fight. Oh, and for those who don't know, the finalists have been leaked. They've been leaked for a while, actually. TJ, from the beatdown radio show did so in order to get back at Dana White and the UFC for exempting Sherdog from public weigh-ins. I really didn't care to know myself, and have since forgotten. I'm sure if your interested you can lurk around sherdog.com and find em', though.

Matt Serra smoked Spratt. That was a quick easy win for matt and thats just what he needs. Now I agree with everybody in the house it was stupid to put rich franklin on the show, but now they have Chuck!! Also thought captain miserable was pretty funny shit. Pat Cote is going to win next week... hopefully

Haha, demon cat by intimidation.

I was kinda dissapointed with last nights show. Kinda boring. Though, captain misserable was funny as hell, lol. Nite to see serra get the win. He's still young and would be a great fighter for the ufc to build.

Hope cote gets the W, too.

Anybody heading over to watch Prides "Real Deal" in october? I signed up for their newsletter, so I could get first dibs on tickets, but it's waaaay to much money for some shitty nosebleed seats. sad My cousins are gonig, asses!

Anywho, I guess Belfort / Henderson are scheduled to fight. That's a tough call for me. I enjoy both, but I'll always root for belfort....always.

Much better fight tonight on TUF. It's so nice seeing decent fights. It's funny seeing chuck teach these guys how to throw haymakers, lol. Doesnt' he realize that he's the only fighter who makes that shit work on a consistant basis? tongue

Yeah, I agree with Hendo. If I were betting, it would be on Hendo.

Ok, I think I might have tried this a long time ago, but I'm going to give it another shot. If you are a fan of MMA (mixed martial arts) this is a thread for all discussion related to it. So all orgs are up for discussion, i.e. UFC, PRIDE FC, KOTC, IFL, WFA, Shooto, K-1 Heros, Strikeforce, etc..... I guess I'll start it off by giving my opinion and predictions on the next three big fights coming up next week.

October 10th

Shamrock vs Ortiz 3

Now anyone that watched UFC 61 knows that the stoppage of this fight was extremely controversial. However, I feel that even if Shamrock would have gotten back to his feet, that Tito would have taken him down again and easily ground and pounded his way to victory. Now we get to see the 3rd fight between these two rivals free on SpikeTV thanks to Dana White and the UFC. I think that Shamrock only has a slight puncher's chance at beating Ortiz.

My prediction: Ortiz by TKO in the 2nd.

October 14th

Franklin vs Silva
UFC Middleweight Championship Match

Ok, this is a fight that I am anticipating very much. Rich Franklin is one of my favorite fighters, and he's also a hometown hero. His game is very well-rounded but he has proven to have a fairly weak chin, as he has been dropped by Tanner and Loiseau. I fear that Anderson Silva may exploit that because he is a very seasoned striker, and has incredible pin-point accuracy with his punches. However, I feel that if Franklin can close the distance and get this fight to the ground he could possibly pull-out a TKO victory over Silva. On the other hand, he must be careful given that Anderson Silva is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I honestly feel that this fight could go either way.

My prediction: Franklin by TKO in the 4th.

Sherk vs Florian
UFC Lightweight Championship Match

The "Muscle Shark" vs "Ken-Flo", this one I fear will be going to Sherk based on the fact that I think he will simply over-power Florian. Sherk is a phenominal wrestler with insane ground and pound. Florian on the other hand is a black-belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has been training with the elite in Muay Thai kickboxing. Florian is definitely the underdog in this fight not only because he is smaller but because he came off of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. However, I will be rooting for and praying that Florian somehow pulls out the victory so that the fighters off of the show will finally get some of the credit and respect that they deserve. However, I'm going to have to go with my gut on this one.

My prediction: Sherk by TKO (GnP) in the 2nd.

Well, hopefully some MMA fans will come out of hiding to keep this thread alive. The sport is only going to grow in the next few years, and I hope that the majority of the members of this forum will be taken with the sport as I have been. If you read this and are not a fan, why not watch Shamrock vs Ortiz 3 just to check the sport out. The event starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 10th on SpikeTV.

Note to mods:

Not trying to advertise just hoping that the sport may gain a few new fans.
