I just found out it was a title fight. Well half the title anyway. I agree that Brock doesnt deserve even half the title. But the heavyweight division doesnt have many fighters in it. But Brock should have at least four more fights before a title shot. Kongo, Gonzaga, Cro Cop, Werdum are all top competitors that Brock should fight.

All that said I still want Brock to win. LOL

ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP® ANNOUNCES UFC 91: COUTURE vs. LESNAR

RANDY "THE NATURAL" COUTURE vs. BROCK LESNAR
UFC® WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT

CHAMPIONSHIP

SATURDAY, NOV. 15, 2008
LIVE FROM MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – On November 15th, the champ is back.

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White today announced that after a year away from the game, UFC® heavyweight champion Randy "The Natural" Couture will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon to defend his title against rising star Brock Lesnar in a clash of titans destined to shake the foundations of the sport. This championship bout, the biggest heavyweight title fight in years, will headline UFC 91: COUTURE vs. LESNAR, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.

"I am happy to announce that UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture will be returning to action in the Octagon," said Dana White, UFC President. "He's a legend in the UFC, and one of the fighters that helped build this sport. I have always said that wrestling is one of the best bases you can have in MMA and not only is Randy a top level wrestler but his opponent is as well. Brock Lesnar showed the MMA world that he is for real in his last fight, dismantling the far more experienced Heath Herring. His combination of speed and power was absolutely devastating. It is a fascinating matchup: the crafty, multiple-time heavyweight champion versus the younger, bigger, and stronger challenger. This is one that will go down in the history books."

A UFC Hall of Famer whose name is synonymous with mixed martial arts, Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture (16-8) is the only fighter in history to win the UFC world heavyweight title three times, and that’s not even mentioning his two UFC light heavyweight titles. Owner of heavyweight wins over the likes of Maurice Smith, Vitor Belfort, Kevin Randleman, and Pedro Rizzo (twice), the 45-year old Las Vegas resident turned back the clock in 2007 with a stirring win over Tim Sylvia at UFC 68 that netted him his third heavyweight crown. Couture defended his title for the first time at UFC 74 with a third round TKO of number one contender Gabriel Gonzaga, and now the man often referred to as “Captain America” will look to prove once again that he should never be counted out in a fight when he takes on Brock Lesnar.

“I have a lot of respect for Brock as an athlete and a collegiate wrestler, but I know exactly where he’s at, he’s trying to make the transition from a wrestler to mixed martial arts,” said Couture. “I’ve been there, done that, and I know what the pitfalls are. This will be an interesting matchup, and it will be very nice to be home in the Octagon for this fight.”

A physically gifted athlete with the size, speed, and power to impose his will on any opponent, Brock Lesnar (2-1) made an immediate impact in the UFC when he debuted here in February of 2008, and he has his sights set on shocking the world on November 15th. A four-time All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, and 2000 NCAA Division I National Champion in wrestling, Lesnar made a name for himself internationally after college as a professional wrestler, but he soon found his true love in mixed martial arts in 2006. After a 69 second win in his pro debut a year later, Lesnar entered the UFC
and made a positive impression in a loss to former heavyweight champion Frank Mir at UFC 81, but at UFC 87 in August, the Minneapolis-St. Paul resident showed why he is rapidly becoming one of the most feared fighters in the sport today and an immediate threat to the heavyweight throne.

"It's an honor to fight Randy Couture, he's a legend in this sport, and to get the chance to test myself against him is a gift," said Lesnar. "A lot guys would love to have this opportunity, Randy is the UFC heavyweight champion. There is one goal that I've had since I started training in MMA and that is to capture the title. Now that I'm getting the chance, nothing is going to stop me. I'm walking out of the Octagon with the belt around my waist."

My last thread on this got closed. What do yall think? Who will win?

Evans knocked the fuck out of Liddell. That sucks. He was backing up all the time and Chuck after him. Chuck throws a right uppercut and Rashad avoids it and connects a HUGE right hand that knocks Chuk out cold! The ref. Herb Dean stopped the match instantly as Liddell hit the ground! He just dropped dead! When they rolled him over he was still out!
He was later on the stool and appeared to be fine but damn what a K.O.!

Evans proved to be fast and smart . He earned my respect.

Hahaha. That was delicious. There are few sweeter sights in MMA than Chuck Liddell getting KTFO. He should retire and go back to snorting coke.

I wonder what they're going to do with him now though. Actually, I don't, because I have a funny feeling UFC are going to run Liddell vs Machida in order to keep Machida as far away from the title as possible because he's not over enough to be a good pay per view draw if he wins it. And Machida is going to counter strike until Liddell's spirit breaks and he just wants the fight to be over. It would be glorious. But then Dana would still be like "pfft, who has Machida beaten, Liddell is 1-3 in his last four fights, beating him isn't an accomplishment. But you can have a title shot when you prove you're a worthy contender! I promise! brb Lesnar's on the phone."

Also Ryo Chonan won his fight. Very nice. I wish they'd stop booking him on the undercard though and start booking him some pay per views spots.

Tragic news, Evan Tanner has passed away. I can't say I was a fan or followed his work much but I did know of him and his skill. A tragic loss and will surely be missed.

Yeah. 'Dehydration' according to his family, while out camping. That's a shame. I was never a huge fan but I thought he'd make a comeback once he got his drug problems sorted out and maybe win a few more titles in UFC. By all accounts a great guy and very respectable fighter. RIP Evan Tanner. Lots of people are going to miss him.

Ignore the majority of what I said on the above posts, so many MMA sites are full of shit.

But yeah official news now, UFC 92 will have Evans Vs Griffen, Mir Vs Nogueria and W.Silva Vs Rampage 3. Those of you that watched Pride will know the history between these two.

UFC 93 will have Rich Franklin Vs Dan Henderson and Shogun Vs Mark Coleman 2. That should be pretty sick to watch, last time Coleman broke shoguns arm.

This is all from the UFC website.

Not bad fights really. Here's some predections for the heck of it.

Evans is going to TKO Giffin I think because I think Forrest has shown a dodgy chin in the past and Evans has the sheer power to turn out the lights for even guys who have reasonably strong chins. I don't care much about this fight though.

Minotauro is going to sub Mir. Easily, probably. Mir's BJJ is his bread and butter and Nogueria's is that much better. I think Mir will be outboxed on his feet too.

lol Failpage. Silva has a shitty chin. So that's Jackson's best hope, an errant hook or something. But otherwise this is going to look like their last two fights I think. Too bad UFC doesn't allow stomps and soccer kicks, I would have loved to see Wand stomp a mudhole in Jackson's face this time.

Henderson over Franklin. Probably 3rd round TKO or decision.

Shogun vs Mark Coleman, to me, is a Pride style vs UFC style type matchup, because in Pride Shogun would be letting loose with stomps and soccer kicks and downed knees at every possible opportunity, and it'd make being taken down by Coleman that much harder if he had to watch out for being sprawled and kneed or speared in the face while shooting. Coleman also wouldn't have a wall to rely on and aid him in takedowns.

Under UFC's shitty rules which favor wrestlers so heavily though, I think Shogun is really being thrown to the wolves. None of that Chute Boxe love for stomps, soccer kicks, or downed knees, so a fair wack of his most dangerous tools are taken away right off the bat, and he has no hope of stuffing Coleman's takedowns without them. Coleman also has the cage wall to muscle Shogun into and hold him against until such time as he feels like taking him down. There's also no corners an octogon for Shogun to utilise in his striking strategy. Shogun is in this match is like Mark Coleman in a boxing match, he's fucked.

loooooool

Anyone watching this Elite XC show? For those of you not, Shamrock wasn't cleared to fight Kimbo due to a pre-existing cut, and was replaced by Seth Petruzelli who weighed in at 205 compared to Kimbo's 235. I'm not going to lie, I really don't know who Seth Petruzelli is. But he dismantled Kimbo in a 14 second TKO. That's hilarious. I hope people jump off Kimbo's dick now.

Fucking, FUCK!...

Lesnar just beat Randy Couture.....sad

Im so pissed lol. Randy was doing better than I thought he would but he got caught in the side of the head in the second round, fell to the ground and Brock just jumped right on him giving him those vicious hammer fists like what he did to Mir and the ref stopped it.

Fuck Brock Lesnar. The UFC is full of shit, giving a guy with only 3 MMA fights a title shot. Its all about the money now. But in the end, I guess he won fair and square. I'll give him that.
New UFC Heavyweight Champion: Brock Lesnar!!!!!

Too strong.

Its pretty much always been all about the money outside of maybe the first couple of UFC tournaments. Even then it was probably about the money as much as anything else.

I called this. Strangely, I'm glad Lesnar won in part, even though I hate him. Because at least this makes things more interesting than a continued Randy "I'm Boring And I Suck" Couture title reign. Now all that's left to do is watch Mir get choked by Nog, then watch Nog triangle Lesnar and reclaim his title.

Btw Jeremy Stephens' uppercut looked like a fucking Mortal Kombat uppercut. Win. And Dustin Hazelett's omoplata was baller.

Also, Florian vs Penn is going to be nuts. NUTS.

Yeah it usually is about the money. This fight was just a great example of that.

Personally I would rather still have Couture as champ. I don't find him boring at all, quite the opposite actually. I love seeing this guy fight, you just never know what he's capable of doing. Randy is genius when it comes to finding fighters weak areas and developing a game strategy. I think Randy would have won if he didn't get caught with that right hand. I think he would have wore Lesnar down after the third round. I never thought that Randy would have been able to press Lesnar up against the fence and hold him there like that. Even more impressive was that Randy was able to get back up to his feet when Lesnar took him down and mauled him. Randy even stuffed Lesnars take downs. I was expecting allot less from Randy and I was very impressed with his performance last night. Just wish we could have seen more. I'll give it up to Brock though, he's a great athlete and he won fair and square.

Yeah Im thinking too that its going to be Lesnar Vs Nog. Lol, imagine if Mir won though, it would be Lesnar vs Mir 2 haha.

Florian and Penn is going to be sick. But Im looking more forward to UFC 94, Penn vs St.Pierre.

Im calling it right now, George has this. Penn is no where even close to being an athlete as George.

It was a bit weird to see CM Punk so...defeated(deflated?) after the fight. Dude has a set of stones on him to attempt what he did, but I don't think anyone truly thought this would end any other way. Even Joe Rogan dropped the company line after the fight and was basically saying it shouldn't have happened.
