Good job of using my own quotes against me... except that has nothing to do with the subject at all. The point I was trying to make was this is based on gender alone and nothing else really. I understand people who were concerned with someone "relatively new" being given power, but the fact that she happened to be a girl was what set them off. I seem to recall people using that fact and focusing on it alone, despite the fact i was simply going by a majority based poll thread I made when backing who I did for moderator at the time. I was not the forum director so that was simply my way of supporting what the majority seemed to want.

Regardless, I can pull up some quotes directed towards Chan_Ming if you'd like me too... ones that deal with her length of time as a member are fine, because again... I understand that point of view perfectly. However, my post clearly has to do with what gender they happened to be... and if you are implying that people in a large number did not have a problem with Chan simply because she was a female, you have quite a bad memory.

At least I'll know not to unban you next time you come crying to me for sympathy, then. Like others I've given chances before, you have not change nor will you ever change.

You're misunderstanding me... I'm not going to ban him, I'm simply stating that if he gets banned again for doing something stupid I'm not going to bother reversing the decision. If you remember correctly, a while ago he made a thread that contained the content "FUCK YOU MKO" and it basically said he was leaving the site. The moderator who closed that thread banned him because it was clear he didn't like the site nor did he want to be on it.

However, not long after that he e-mailed me and said he was sorry. He claimed he really did like this site and enjoyed posting on it. So... I thought it would be nice to just give him another chance. That's the point I was making there. He promised he would change his behaviour and with replies like this I don't really think he has. So if he does get banned again I sincerely doubt I will be removing it.

Can anybody honestly say that they DO NOT interpret that sentence as you saying "The ONLY problem people have with them (Pink_Ranger, Chan_MIng) being selected is the fact that they are women. Nothing else matters, just the fact that they are women."? 'Cause that's how I interpret it, and that's why I say you're mistaken, because YES I know that people didn't like the fact that a GIRL had been chosen to become a mod. Not only that, but it was a GIRL who had only been here for (and I'm just guessing here) 6 months (and obviously there are those who foolishly said "girl" + "member for 6 months"= dating a mod). So it wasn't (in Chan's case) based on gender alone, and the posts (not only in the thread announcing the new mods, btw) prove that.

You say I did a good job using your quotes against you, well kudos to you too, 'cause you apparently didn't read the parts where I said "The majority of the anti-Chan comments were due to the fact that she hadn't been here much when she got the mod status" (thus meaning that the other part of that number -the minority, at least from what I remember- had a problem with her being a mod because she's a she) or when I wrote "those who thought/said that paled in comparison (number-wise) to those who simply had a problem with someone so new being given so much power".

Are there those who have a problem with ANY girl being a mod? Probably. Were the MAIN reasons why people complained when Chan got promoted the same reasons why people complained about PR right now (thus my calling your logic flawed)? No, at least not IMO.

I know I came off as sexist, but I'm not. It just seems this site gets someone ranked up every day. I remember seeing a "Congratulations" thread almost every day related to rank. It's almost ridiculous. But the trend had seemed to stop..but PR earned it, so congrats Im sorry.

Once again... the members themselves chose Chan. It was their stupidity that led to the whole "she must be dating one of them!" thing. I was attempting to please the majority with the decision, but of course things like that always seem to backfire. However... what reason do you have for the dislike of Pink_Ranger? She has been a member on the site longer than I have, is active and actually wants to better MKO. So what other than the fact that she's a woman do they have? Judging from replies such as "Nice wank up" and "99.9% of females on this site rank up", and "All females move up the ranks quickly" I'd say it was simply because she happens to be female. I don't see them complaining about any other reasons but that. What's your stance on that? Why not jump all over their case about it?





Honestly, I just think you are underestimating the amount of people who disliked Chan simply for that one reason. I've seen certain IM conversations, and I can assure you the people talking negatively about her didn't care one bit about her length of time as a member. I am willing to say perhaps half of the people who objected felt it was too soon, but there were a lot of people who brought up the fact that she as female. When you are attempting to make a point, it's wise to base it on the person alone and not their gender, race, etc. How about if someone said this: "Well, that guy only ranked up because he's black. We all know black guys all get ranked up here". There is no single reply in this thread that states any reason why PR should not be a Shadow Priest, other than the fact that she's female. As for Chan, there were people with legitimate concerns but what I remember most is people calling people like me out because she was a female and she must have been dating someone on the site to get there. Once again, I've seen several IM convos about this topic, some involving the same exact individuals from this thread. That is why I made such a comparison; it's the same guys over and over.

Interesting how in your previous post directed towards me you said that it was an issue based on gender alone, and here you are admitting that there was another reason. Also, without being too specific, you mention two figures: "half" and "a lot". Well, half is 50%, and it's pretty safe to assume that whatever number is represented in "a lot" is less than 50%, 'cause if not you would've said "the other half" and not "a lot". And that is exactly what I've been saying all along (when it comes to Chan, at least). Maybe I was wrong in saying that one number paled in comparison to the other, but I did say "the majority", in other words, that "half" you also mentioned.
