- Street Fighter V Story Details and Free Cinematic Expansion Revealed [YouTube Trailer]

Hey everyone! I’ve been itching to tell you about this for the longest time, and now I finally can! We’re happy to reveal the single-player story details for Street Fighter V. There are two main components to the story experience: Character Stories and the Cinematic Story Expansion.

We knew there would be a lot of new players who are jumping into the franchise for the very first time, so we wanted to provide a way for everyone to become familiar with the eclectic personalities of each fighter. Each character has his or her own storyline that provides background information on what drives him or her to fight, and what that fighter’s relationships are to the other characters.

Each story has been illustrated by renowned Japanese illustrator Bengus who worked on a variety of Capcom titles in the past. I think you’ll find his colorful, throwback style fits perfectly with the background tales we want to tell about each character. What answers does Ryu seek in his never-ending journey? What happened to Charlie Nash after his apparent demise in Street Fighter Alpha? Who is Necalli and what does he want? Play the Character Stories to find out all these answers and more! More info the article, so check it out. Looking forward to this side of things. Although I generally prefer the martial arts heavy, character-centric plots - so actually having a singular, MK style mode to tell the story may be a mixed blessing. Much as it has been in MK.

Alex has been confirmed to be the first dlc character to come in march.

New characters coming monthly and beating character stories along can get you enough fight money for Alex.

Some people has the game already,Ibuki,Juri and Balrog are seen in story mode along Oro and Sean,2nd wave dlc characters,who knows.

I know the game will be barebones as fuck, but seeing as I dont do lobbies in fighting games, I wont be missing much. All I need is a practice mode, casual matchmaking and some sort of arcade and im set. I think the lack of features at launch are definitely gonna turn people away.

Story mode seems boring

Meh, I'll play it to get fight money. I usually don't care for story modes in fighting games.

The game is releasing tomorrow and reviews seems to be on the good side, despite a lack of content and modes. The game really reminds me of Killer Instinct's launch, where a number of things where missing but added later. No vs CPU seems kind of a joke, but I'm actually surprised about the fact that all DLC characters can be earned for free just by playing the game. I was huge critic of Capcom in the past, and this new approach seems pretty awesome. You'll earn enough money for the 1st DLC character just by playing story mode with everyone, and supposedly be just 40,000 points shy of the 2nd character. I'm not a fan of the fact that colors are now locked behind survival mode and according to Evenhubs review, Survival mode is actually 100 deep.

On the good side, I'm stoked for Juri being in the first batch of DLC characters. Easily my favorite SF character.

Kind of taken back by the shortage of single player features. No arcade ladder? Damn.

With that being said, I'm eager to play...just, damn.

If you want an arcade just play survival. Practically the same thing.

Heads up on folks who wanna get the colors. You only have to do easy nomal and hard. Hell gives you a title, money and exp. I'm a pleb who is struggling on normal lmfao

Not sure, but I haven't been able to find a match yet. According to some people the amount of people on right now is causing issues.

Capcom has released its pricing for future content.

Characters will be 100,000 fight money or 600 zenny

Story mode costumes will be 40,000 fight money

Premium costumes (ex. Chun Li, Ryu, Cammy, Bison preorder costumes) will be 400 zenny

100 zenny equals to $1

Soooo if you decided to not buy the pass, it will cost you 38 bucks for all 6 characters and 28 more dollars for their costumes assuming the costume doesn't come with the character.

Well, I bought the pass so my fight money is going straight to story mode costumes and whatever other content the store will hold.

SFV is basically like a demo game at the moment. "Story mode" can be completed in 20 mins. Survival mode is meh. No arcade mode and the online is already broken.

But meh, Capcom master race will defend it 'til death either way.

I agree. The game!ay is good, but the amount of content is f*cking joke. Literally 4 bare bone modes and 16 characters for $60. By comparison it makes games like Killer instinct, destiny and Titanfall look like full content games.

Look around at various forums and people are trying to defend it, saying the modes will come because they are going to support the game for years, or the fact that capcom is so scapped for money, players need to buy it in order to support the game, keep the community alive and get more content in the future.

This is really a new low in gaming IMO. No matter how big of a name Street Fighter is.

Is Capcom really that strapped for cash that they had to put out what feels like demo in comparison to other fighting games as far as content goes? I'm equally as shocked that Sony would even let this happen, considering they are funding the game to begin with.

16 characters at launch is just fine. And this isn't anything new. Splatoon did it and so did Killer Instinct (though that one was cheaper).

It is not fine, at least for most people. When was the last time a full priced fighting game came with 16 characters on launch? Lack of arcade is a massive omission. Stop making alibis for this bullshit. Nobody is accepting it. I have read forums, Steam reviews and other user reviews and this game is getting absolutely hammered for the lack of content and other problems. Hopefully Tekken 7 is nothing like this game. A very ugly trend if other developers also followed suit.
