That's funny because KI launched with 6, SIX characters. Oh but because it wasn't full price it's ok. And if I recall correctly it also didn't have an Arcade mode at launch. That was patched in months later. It also didn't have lobbies to begin with. People love to forget stuff when it comes to other games.

KI is cheaper but considering you have to BUY every season, and if you want all the shit for that season that's 40$ a pop. That's 120$ if you bought the Ultra Edition of all 3 seasons. There's the 20$ edition for the alternative, but even still if you bought all 3 seasons that's 60$. Whereas when SFV does more characters they can be earned for free.

Now about the story mode being done in like 20 minutes. Who cares? If you do all of them you already have enough to get Alex. THEY'RE BASICALLY GIVING AWAY A FREE CHARACTER. That's how I feel anyway.

Is the game lacking single player content? Yes. Do I really give a fuck? No. Why would I get mad if there's no Arcade mode? I don't play that anyway. Why am I going to get upset about not having Player vs. CPU fights? I never play them.

They focused on what was important, namely gameplay and online. That other stuff will come down the pipeline eventually. No one is twisting anyone's arm to buy the game in it's current state. Wait a few months and get it after story mode or your most anticipated DLC character makes it.

I'm not bothered though because I'm an online guy. I hit the lab, and head right online.

Killer instinct is a free to play game. That means you do not have to pay a single cent to play the game. So nobody cares what content there is because you do not have to pay. Street fighter v is full price game so of course people are going to get mad because they paid a premium for it. Big difference. There are things people expect from full price releases. A more fair comparison is to other full price releases and none have released in such a barebones state as street fighter v.

If you like the game then great but no offence you are not everyone. To most people this is unacceptable release. Just because you like it does not mean everyone does. This game is a massive let down and that is why people are blasting it.

Yeah I wish I followed the development of this game like I did MKX because I wouldn't have bought it at launch. I'm fine with the characters and story mode but ooh wee this game is bare.

I mean the gameplay is fun and I think they've handled the skill change better than MK did but wow there's nothing to do if you don't want to get online.

You know damn well if NRS had released that product, you would be smashing every copy of MK you ever owned and howling for Boon's head on a platter. You're exactly who I was referring to when I said Capcom master race would defend this trash, even when they've blatantly released an unfinished product. They SHOULD be giving away free characters when there's only 16 at release and you can't even play the game properly. The online doesn't even work at the moment, but yeah have fun playing training mode.

Killer Instinct is a free to download game. I don't say free to play because no one is going to only play the character on rotation. If you want to enjoy that game you gotta spend some money.

KI was unfinished and people didn't bitch nearly as much. That's my point. It's fine when KI launches with 6 characters but god forbid SFV launches with 10 more characters.

And everybody would be pissed if NRS pulled a SFV style release. But that's because NRS prides themselves on single player content. SF has never boasted about amazing offline content. And I'll be honest, I'd take a working, functional online with an actual fucking ranking system over MKX's story mode. Why? I play online way more. Story mode gets one playthrough and I'm done.

I'm not some kind of Capcom apologist. I just don't give a fuck about what everyone is complaining about. You have every right to feel how you feel about the game in it's current state.

Not everyone is an online guy. And from what I've been hearing the online is a literal broken mess with servers crashing left and right. Blunder of the year if you ask me. Shame because I was truly excited for this game.

I feel like I have to disagree here. Killer Instinct was never marketed as a fully featured, $60 retail product. It was designed as a platform from the beginning. There was no misconception, that's why there was little to no bitching.

Sure the fighting is a vast improvement over the awful game that was SFIV (whoa just my opinion folks), but the lack of content all around is an absolute joke. Anyone who thinks this game is $60 price worthy in it's current state is lying to themselves. Amazes me that this game gets defended more on an MK site than MK itself. Whatever though.

Another thing that has bothered me is there have been two instances where the servers have crapped out when I was on fight 28 in survival. It's all well and fine since it says the game will continue in offline mode right? Wrong. It kicks you back to the main menu and you lose all of your progress. Great to get kicked from offline modes that I'm only playing due to Online being broken (Semi-fixed today).

Enjoying Charlie and Birdie so far. I just wish the months of them beta testing their online meant that the online would have been functioning from the start. Oh well, I'm sure people will just make an excuse for it too.

Killer Instinct still had a normal VS CPU option at launch, and it still had pretty solid netcode without holding a single beta though.

KI launched for $20 with the 6 characters and still had more modes at launch.

Also my system didn't even need to install any game files for SF5 from the retail disk because all the game files where on the system from the beta. It just required a 6gb day 1 patch. As far as I'm concerned SF5 is just a glorified demo with a full roster.

I wouldn't really consider that $60, regardless of what long term support Capcom has promised. For all we know outside of the 12 dlc character, they could just be referring to game balancing for the tournament crowd

I guess ill drop in my 2.

The gameplay is really fun, and this is coming from somebody who has always thought SF was not only boring to watch, but boring to play. This one is fun. Maybe its because KI got me somewhat more familiar with the button layout and how things work, but yeah, I had a blast playing survival mode today. Trying to to decide if you should buy a buff or push to the next round as is is kind of fun. I didn't play online once today because this mode kept me so entertained lol

I do find it weird that it didn't come with an arcade mode or a vs CPU mode. I feel like just about every fighting game ever launches with at least one of those two things, or at least some mode where you can have a traditional 2 round bout with the CPU. I (and I doubt im the only one) like to practice not only in training mode, but test out what I learn in training mode against the AI for a bit before jumping into online. I know AI isn't a great substitute for a human player, but it is a good way to actually test what you learn on an opponent that fights back. So arcade/vs cpu is usually how I warm up for online. Not having at least one of those two is weird, but that brings me to survival.

Survivor is almost just as good, the only thing it lacks really is seeing the character win poses and having to worry about health carrying over etc. but its fun, its the mode I played the most today. The story modes are short, but not every fighter has the big cinematic story like MK does, so that doesn't bother me too much considering we will be getting the cinematic story mode for free down the road.

TLDR: It does seem a little lacking in single player content, but there is enough (for me anyway) to hold me over until the other stuff comes out later. It also doesn't bother me as much because I don't care about SF's story as much as I do MK's. I really got it to play online. Which I imagine I will be able to do fine when I feel like I am ready.

Oh, and I can get my girl Juri free of charge sometime down the road as well...that is awesome :)))

Stop comparing the game to killer instinct. It is not a fair comparison and anyone with any common sense knows it. You compare apples to apples. You are deluding yourself.

No one compares an armani T-shirt to a Nike T-shirt because they are leagues apart. It is not the same thing. You compare armani to Gucci or Versace etc etc. It is common sense.

No one compares a Ferrari to a Fiat because they are leagues apart. You compare a Ferrari to a pagani or Lamborghini. It is common sense.

Street fighter v is a full priced game so you compare it other full priced games. It is not bloody rocket science. It is common sense. No other full priced $60 fighting game has come out in such a feature less state. That is why this game is getting incredibly negative user reviews. It is more like a demo than a game. People are rightfully angry. I just personally hope other companies do not go the same route.
Online usually goes down at launches bacause everybody's trying to use it at once.
Like when disasters happen, and the phone networks crash because everybody's trying to check on their loved ones.

Happens for big launches, n wont be the last time this happens to a game.

How do Birdie n Charlie play this time around?
I was thinking about getting this, but the lack of offline features is a lil disappointing. I don't play online that much, n I probably suck anyways.

I would've played IV more, but most of my PS3 games are on the other side of the country. Which is the latest version of IV?

I'm really enjoying Charlie due to him not being a charge character. I always enjoyed his and Guile's move set but hate charge characters so I never wanted to play as them. His V-Trigger is a pretty useful teleport where you can teleport in front of them in the air, behind them in the air, or behind them on the ground.

Birdie I haven't played as much as but he is definitely hard to get in on if you can play him properly. His command grab using his chain is pretty useful and can be canceled or held before releasing the chain. The still frame from his Critical Art K.O is probably my favorite in the game.

I feel like the season pass is a waste, with being able to earn fight money in game to unlock the characters. I already beat story mode with everyone, survival mode with Ken on normal and a couple of characters on easy and already have enough to unlock 2 of the dlc characters when they get released.

From what I've read, if you can beat survival mode on the harder difficulties, with the amount of content in the game, you can currently earn enough points to get 5 of the 6 characters.

The season pass really only seems beneficial if you plan on getting the premium costumes, since those require actual money anyway.

I bought the pass so I can use the fight money for story mode costumes and whatever other content they dish out that requires fight money.

I can guarantee you they will sell the colors for those who don't want to grind through survival. Whether it will cost zenny or FM is still up in the air.

Alright, I've never been big into Street Fighter (outside of feeding quarters into SF2). I own multiple Street Fighter games, but they're more of a "friend's choice" type for me. I know very little about the lore or why Raul Julia wants to take over the world.

I'd like to know why half of my SF friends are salty as fuck and the other half are acting like this game was birthed by the Virgin Mary 10 seconds after Jesus.

Can some one just lay out the facts to me in a manner an outsider would understand?

Lost match in Casual and Ranked matches.
Got few more achievements.
Unlocked color 3 for primary out for these 2. ^
Got few more titles.

Here's my favorite to least favorite.

Chun - li
Cammy

Laura
Karin
Vega
Rashid
Necalli

Without going super in depth, it's very simple.

The gameplay is phenomenal, the content is severely lacking. So it plays great but it's missing some fighting game staple features like Arcade mode and Player vs. CPU. Because of this many feel the 60$ is unwarranted.

But according to a Capcom representative Arcade mode will be coming. (Like I said it would)

And as for comparing KI and SFV? It's a perfectly legitimate comparison. They are essentially doing the same thing but in a different method.

KI is a free to download fighting game with heavy emphasis on Solid mechanics and Great online. SFV is a full price fighting game with heavy emphasis on Solid mechanics and Great online. The difference is the payment method.

KI uses the "foot in the door" technique by letting you download and try the game for free. But to really enjoy the game you MUST spend money. How much you spend is up to you but you're gonna spend if you want to enjoy the game. KI has been doing yearly season passes which serve as major additions to the game. All of which cost money.

SFV has you pay up front, with the choice to earn future content for free. I prefer this method by far. If you don't, that's cool. But to say SFV and KI aren't anything alike because one is full price and one is not is complete fucking horseshit.

Alright, so the anger is generally directed at the fact that it (currently) lacks the traditional single player options that most fighting games offer? I guess I can understand that anger. It really lacks an arcade mode?
