Also, this seems rather left-fieldy, but I think for that next Iron Man film they should bring in The Mandarin, and save Thanos for the Avengers sequel.

I Think the separate movies will criss-cross storylines and eventually set him up as the villain for the Avengers 2.
I don't see them bringing

Thanos in to the separate movies except maybe for the after credit scene or as part of a sub-plot leading up to the Avengers 2. I'm sure in Thor 2 there will be some kind of sub-plot with him eventually getting the Infinity Gauntlet.

Have now seen this movie twice in Imax 3d. Soooo fucking awesome. For once I really feel like the 3d wasn't even gimmicky and actually added to the larger than life awesomeness of it all. I love the portrayals and interactions of all the characters and seriously got the nerd shakes when Captain American and Iron Man were standing next to each other in the same shot for the first time.

Really like Captain America this time around as well as his first movie felt a little flat to me. I kinda wish Hawkeye was in his normal costume or something slightly more similar to it (doesn't HAVE to be purple robin hood) but Jeremy Renner is still cool and this in no way detracted anything from the film.
Overall though the action in this movie is unbelievable and as much as I'm looking forward to Spiderman I'm not sure if it'll be able to top this film. Or at least the bar has been set incredibly high. Very much looking forward to future sequels for this franchise.

The fights between the avengers like Iron Man vs. Thor and ESPECIALLY Thor vs. The Hulk. That part where The Hulk is running at Thor and Thor gets his hammer just in time to fucking uppercut him with it into a jet in slow mo? Complete baddassary.

goes can anybody recommend me some good Avenger graphic novels that feature him as the villain? I never read Thanos

Secret Invasion, if he's even the villain in that
and need to brush up on my Avenger titles. Secret Invasion, if he's even the villain in that
Just got back from seeing it.
WOW is all I can say.
Going into the movie, I was excited as all hell to see Cap. Cap is by far my favorite avenger and I feel his part was really much of a let down. But he did have some awesome teamwork scenes and that he takes charge to tell them what to do was an awesome scene.
This was the best movie I have ever seen in a cinema hands down, there were so many people there and the fact that almost everyone stayed for the ending was awesome.
The Hulk and Thor blew me away, they definitely had they're right scenes in the film. The Hulk was played so well, interacting with Tony showed the character more.
Can't wait for the Avengers 2!

The action scenes were awesome, everytime there was something funny the whole theater erupted. When Hulk and Thor are standing there and he just punches him it was hilarious.

I just hope its on 1 Blu-Ray disk and not two like Lord of the Rings.
Also can anyone recommend any good special edition Ironman, Thor & Thanos comics that had holofoil covers?

I hope it comes on DVD, I haven't stepped into 2012 yet, lol.

Fantastic movie. I can't wait to see it again. It wasn't perfect, but with a little more development in spots, it damn near could have been. I'm not familiar with the comics, but I am somewhat familiar with the personalities within them, and all the heroes seemed to correspond well to the source material as far as I could see (though we knew that from the previous films).
Then again, if they added the footage that was cut, there's a good chance these deficiencies would disappear. I don't normally buy movies (or even games that often), but it sounds like this is one I can't pass up.
I guess the only criticism I have is with the political counsel that speaks with Nick Fury from time to time. A little more information about these guys would have gone far, and I felt their presentation in the film was a bit dumb. It's an example of creators not trusting the audience enough to figure out if a character(s) is good/bad/misguided, so they insert some obvious cliche (like a dark ass room with an authoritative figure inside it).

Finally got to see it last night and I really enjoyed it. Everyone was great and Hawkeye really stood out to me. I've been interested in his character since his inclusion in UMVC3.
Though I thought the movie was way cool and will definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD, I'd have to say that X-2 is still the best Marvel Comic movie IMHO. This one came pretty close though. I'd love to see it again!

Kind of a few days old, but the movie now has a street date for Blu-Ray and DVD. The movie is set for release on Sept. 25. The Avenger's Street Date

SHIELD works for the United Nations. Those guys on the screens were the Security Council. I guess the film could've made that more obvious by, y'know, actually saying so out loud...but they were listed as such in the credits at least.
That's all that was up with the shadowy council stuff though, it just established that Fury has to answer to somebody, you can't just have a military organization that's freelance and does whatever.

Was too hyped I think, because I left feeling like it was "alright". Of course my nerdy button was being kicked seeing all these characters in the same place, but I think I was overhyped.
Not a bad movie by any stretch though. I was more impressed with MIB3, but again it was because of expectations. MIB2 was hot garbage.

I FINALLY seen The Avengers... And I gotta say, it was awesome.
Not one thing I didn't like about it. It was that damn good.
I really liked how everybody got equal face time. Going into the movie I thought it was going to be a hulkfest. But I'm was glad it wasn't.
I was also really impressed with how Hawkeye and Black Widow did in the movie. They stood their ground against monsters, that deserves my respect.
Needless to say Captain America was my favorite.
