Holy crap, they actually pulled it off? I was going to see this regardless if it was bad or good, but now I'm seriously pumped for this movie.

In my opinion it was good, it was fun, especially the first parts. Some action scenes were kinda blah for me though. It wasnt a fantastic film, but it was good.
BTW, I dont get what the big deal was hiding the identity of Loki's army. Spoilers Follow:
Also... I dont like Skarlett as Widow. I think she could have fit a ton of different roles, but Widow wasnt one of them.
Iron Man was good, as was Banner (as himself and Hulk). They were fun and dynamic. The rest of the cast was aigh't.
Maybe cause the movie was so promoted and pumped it wasnt all that for me. It wasnt bad nor boring. It was good, it just wasnt excellent.

It was pretty much a given that they were the Chthauri since this was basically an adaptation of the Ultimates. But they were dumbed down! they were powered by the big ship? They are robots? They werent morphers nor they infiltrated the govt or Hydra... so they could have called them Chtauri or Kree or CHUDS or Poppycockers and wouldnt really matter... hell... even if they remained unnamed it would have been the same. Their role was no more than that of a drone.

I did love Thanos at the end... "courting death" hehehe that was cool.
His lackey kinda looked like the Marquis of Death.
Also, it was cool they included Pepper Pots. I thought she would have been barely a cameo, her character added a little dimension to Iron Mans story. Too bad Jane Foster wasnt there. She could have added a little more to Thor... he needed it.
Overall, the story was a fusion of Ultimates and Avengers... but kinda missing the most epic parts... like Wasp taking the Hulk down after he goes berserk or Thor teleporting the uber-bomb to a different realm.

Alright, this movie was great. They actually pulled it off and it felt like every character got their moments to shine. To be honest some of my favorite parts are the comedy bits. Thor was easily the funniest guy in the movie. "You humans are so petty and tiny!" "He was adopted." Loved it
Also, I think Samuel Jackson should get some credit for his performance. Nick Fury was awesome. I loved his character. The way he uses the vintage cards to motivate his team was a nice touch

Yeah! i watched it in 3D and I think it took away from it, especially in the battle scenes. Its more distracting than anything.

It was alright. I just think the superhero genre can be so much more. I've been hoping more of these movies would take more cues from the Dark Knight by now. X-Men: First Class came very close though.
This movie was somewhat corny, funny, fun and pure eye candy. I was hoping for a more serious, semi-reality, and emotional action movie.
Mark Millar first volume of The Ultimates should give you a better idea of what I mean. In that graphic novel, you actually see the Hulk kill innocent civilians, therefore he "feels" like a "real" threat. Iron man is a raging alcoholic with a terminal illness. Thor comes across as a egotistical maniac that needs medical intervention. Giant-Man is an abusive husband. Captain America has difficulties coping in the 2000s where all his old friends are now elderly. All of this results in a more serious superhero tale that is very easy to relate to since they're based on themes everyday people face.
Idk...

Actually with you on that. Concerning the heroes independent films, I thought Captain America was horrible, Iron Man 2 was horrible, the Hulk was alright, and I never saw Thor. I'm not too excited for this film, but I'm sure I'll catch it on DVD sometime.

what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????? This movie was amazing!!!!! I loved every single moment in this movie.... but the moment that truly stood out from all the rest in my opinion was when....
Also.... I feel like Hawkeye didn't get any credit in this movie.... He was really fucking awesome! He really surprised me.

Banner's final Hulk transformation when he said "I'm always angry..." and then he proceeded to OWN that flying dragon lizard monster thingy.... That was an amazing moment.

Just got home from the theater, and I'm still so pumped after watching that movie!!!!
Fantastic movie!!! I thought everyone got equal starring and used everyones specials equally, including their attitudes. I do think that hawkeye and black widow could of got a little extra umph, but they were done fairly well in my opinion. My man, Iron man. What a pimp. Except everyone in this movie was a pimp. Loved it. Favorite movie of the year so far.
Couple question in the spoilers. I'm not that on to the mythology of the superheros because I never watched superhero cartoons or read the comics so....

IT. WAS... Alright. Good movie, but certainly wasnt the pick of the litter.
KingJolly, I kind of see what you are saying. From what I have read, this avengers was suposed to get people hooked with all the flashy fighting and eye catching of the heros. I have read also...
Just in case of spoilers...

That the second avengers is supposed to be more on a personal level of each hero. There will be more added to their stories and the plot than there will be on action. I think that the appearence of pepper really helped to do that for Iron man in this movie. We also got to see a little of hawkeye and black widow on a personal level. I think this movie just picked at doing what you suggest and focused more on action. The next movie should help fulfill what your looking for.

The guy at the end is Thanos. He's Godlike, pretty powerful really. Should be epic.
As far as we know, Hydra has been dead since Captain America.
