Pointless? If they find a guy that LOOKS like snake, but sounds like a girl, voiceovers would do some good. And besides, regardless of who played Snake, even though he's not connected, hayter shouldbe doing his voice no matter what

Why should someone not be able to use their own voice when filming in a movie? That is dumb. There are machines out there today that has it to where they can alter people's voices to make it sound like something else. They can use that, but not saying anything at all and having someone else do their voice for them is completely stupid. I understand that Hayter has THE voice for Snake, but no one bitched about how Robin Shou didn't have the high pitched "Wooo" when he screamed. Yes, is a disappointing fact that whoever is to play Snake will not have THE voice, but having someone else talk for you is dumb. Completely dumb, and I'm not changing my mind about this either.

I just hope it's not Christian Bale. Oh how I hope it's someone else. I think the general consensus is that Hugh Jackman would be good to play Snake.

And as far as Hugh Jackman goes I guess he could. If he never played Wolverine I would have said Hell no. But he can be a tough guy and well see if he can fire a gun and shoot you dead in the eyes from 1000 miles away. And he buffed up again he could play Snake so i'm not against him. But like I said if he didn't play Wolverine I really couldn't picture it.

Alright, some news about the MGS movie i see! Any news is good news. Those are some interesting actors they are considering. I like Mortensen's work but I don't know if he can do Snake. Some goes to Bale. Definitely going to be interesting!

I wish they would start off with MG, not MGS.

So, we'll either have some brutally long exposition about how Snake got to be where he is (as well as the setting and the whole "Big Boss" concept), or they'll just throw away his back story.

David Hayter is the voice of Snake. However, I can't see it working in a 2-3 hr movie. It works in a video-game, but to see a real person doing it, well... I think it'd be like the Bat rasp

Well, I really don't see why they don't just hire David Hayter as Snake and appease the real fans of the franchise?

I love the idea of Hugh Jackman playing Solid Snake. I could imagine him playing two roles as both Liquid and Solid. Imagine the epic fight on top of Metal Gear Rex at the end? With the right director and Hugh in his versatile style of acting, it could be pulled off correctly.

I don't watch movies quite often, but I know Hugh Jackman. Well wolverine.
And Xmen Origins should be a good movie offtopic and Deadpool Ryan Reynolds good stuff. But I'd watch it with jackman as snake.

Wait, what about Russell Crowe as Snake? Can anyone see it? Otacon. . . no one comes to mind right now.

he's too "good looking" (note that I put that in quotes, because I don't think he's good looking) to play Otacon. And his voice doesn't fit.

I think James Spader would make an awesome Otacon.

I agree with what some people are saying about Bale being overexposed because he's in so many other high-profile roles. But the more I think about it, the more I think that he would really be great as Snake. He's an amazing actor for one, and he's proven that he can do the whole action star thing. Also, he can make his voice gravelly, just enough to resemble Snake's.

and picture this: Hugh Jackman as Liquid. Now obviously this would mean the two wouldn't look like twins, but hear me out. For all of the reasons Jackman would make a good Snake, those apply to Liquid as well. Good actor, can do action, and geek cred (with X-Men). And he could pull off the whole English accent a helluva lot better than Bale.

I know that the likelihood of getting them both is slim, but I think it'd be awesome if they did. The two of them were great foils for each other in The Prestige, and I think they'd bring that same chemistry to Metal Gear.

I can't see them doing Liquid and Solid with the same actor without heavy makeup alterations. Otherwise, it'll be a DURRRRRRR moment when it's revealed they're twin brothers.

I also hope it doesn't follow the plot of the games very closely. I'd rather see something new and unpredictable.

actually, he's an Aussie, and has an Australian accent. If you've ever seen an interview with him, you'll know it sounds quite a bit different than the whole Brit accent thing. Compare his regular voice to something like Kate & Leopold (yes, sadly I've seen this movie). But in K&L, he sounds a bit too proper. Find a happy medium between his normal accent and his English one and you've got the perfect Liquid Snake voice.

Well according to Hideo he says that the movie wont follow any of the events of the game. But I hope thats not ENTIRELY true. Like change somethings around and maybe move things around. I hope they don't change characters personalities like they did in Silent Hill with Dahlia and Christabella.

Anyways I agree with you on how they should have Liquid and Snake look different and played by a different actor. Trouble is though who ya gonna get that looks like either actor ya know.

I hope they have him co-direct, like Frank Miller did in Sin City. That way it's as faithful as possible to the source.

Well, with MGS2, anyway...after all, the game's theme was the ease at which media can be manipulated to distort the truth.

However, we pretty much guessed that "Snake" was Big Boss in MGS3 before the game came out. The only thing I've seen of his lately that was misleading was MGS4 Snake in the Octo-Camo suit with the gun in his mouth (it doesn't quite happen like that in the game).

That could be kinda cool. I just got done watching American Gangster and he was pretty ill in that movie. So I guess he could play Snake but not really a first choice for me. But you never know now do you.. Interesting
