I've had my preorder paid off for a few weeks now. Very ready to get my hands on it.
The demo was pretty great(once they hammered out the matchmaking bugs). Deathmatch is fast and frantic. I honestly never gave Nuke a try. Never been much on team based modes. Maybe I'll give it a look.
Still bummed single player kinda took a backseat to multiplayer, as I've always been a fan of the different characters and their respective mythos. The single player we get looks to be like a fun experience though. Jaffe(lead designer) called it the most varied single player they've ever had(not just one arena deathmatch after another.
In related news, it seems that once Eat Sleep Play's maintenance contract for the game is up, Jaffe will be leaving the studio he co-founded to start another studio in his hometown. ESP will be shifting their focus towards ipod/ipad development. Kinda shocking.
My faith in the game is not shaken. See you guys tuesday.

I'm holding out hope there're some gems in there, yet to be discovered.
You'll have to drop the spoiler bomb!
I'll have to pick it up tomorrow. I had it pre ordered but working late nights hinders my ability to grab the game when it comes out. I do enjoy multiplayer and hope it can compete with the war games. But I really want to see the character story lines. Preacher is probably one of my new favs. And Dark Side is my fav vehicle. It's like the Michael Myers of Twisted Metal vehicles. It takes a beating but still manages to stalk you down and destroy you.

So is the custom soundtrack available in the full game and not just the demo?

Twisted Metal Story Spoilers:
Sick Story.
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Sweet Tooth wishes to find out where "She" was hiding. He tried to kill "She" (his daughter Sophie) but she stabbed him in the eye with scissors and got away when he first tried killing her. It turns out she killed herself 10 years prior to him winning the tournament and he gets buried alive in his ending. His story shows that the killer in him was a voice that was calling to Marcus Kane and when it eventually got through to him, he sculpted the mask and attacked his family first.
Mr. Grimm wishes that he could go back in time to save his dad's life, but is put in the car with his child self and father as his present day self and get's strangled by his father while his father should be driving. They get into a car accident and Mr. Grimm gets killed by a child version of himself in his ending.
Dollface wants to be a supermodel. She killed and attacked other models (sawing one of the heels of their shoe so it would break and they would fall) to try and make it to the top. She got into a car accident and needed surgery. The doctor who helped her told her that there was a tiny scar on her face from surgery but she thought he was out to get her too so she killed him as well. She finds a doctor who, I shit you not, is a midget. This doctor puts the mask on her and tells her to come back to take it off in 6 days. She goes back in 6 days and he isn't there. She wins the tournament and goes to Calypso and instead of wishing to remove the mask like originally planned, she wishes to be on the runway and shine as the top model. Calypso puts her on a runway with a plane about to land on it. She tried to get away but her heel broke and she fell, thus being killed by the plane.
We see Preacher in a white padded room rambling on about how he knows who calypso really is as it zooms out and we see a castle like building which is a painting on a wall in Calypso's actual building (I guess he has people trapped in the painting).
A Bit of Credits hit and then we see Charlie Kane (Needles' son) talking, and it is revealed that he is alive. He goes to the grave that Sweet Tooth and Sophie were buried in and digs and removes The Mask from the grave. He puts it on and lights his head on fire vowing to take revenge on Calypso.
We then get some more credits, then Preacher rambling again (with a black screen) about how Calypso can raise the dead and then they are forever loyal to him (like he does at the beginning of the game. This is followed by Calypso standing at the grave talking to someone in there. holding a bag. He says he made something especially for the person he is talking to. He then says "Welcome Back" and we see Sophie wearing a clown mask along with Sweet Tooth like attire.

Apparently there's a Twisted Metal movie greenlit? Wacky.
Might be fun. Might be atrocious. I wouldn't mind if it was lightened up a bit for the movies. Never really got into the morose festering tone of Black.
Anybody else get a Death Race remake vibe from Juggernaut?

I've been checkin YouTube vids, I can't wait to actually try it. ^o^
Yeah, and:
I see people complaining about anyone driving any car. Specter has never had the same driver, neither has Warthog. He's usually military though, cept Johnny Cage as Tommy Scissorfists from Black. He cries when he's done killing...
Anyone else see the Yu-Gi-Oh! similarity?

the general theme with the cars being like Leatherface, anyone can wear the mask. Also suggested with Sweet Tooth's family.
In the ending, after the Hell portal painting scene, when it pans through Calypso's private collection, you see Twister's helmet(Head-On), and Crazy 8/No-Face's boxing glove with the medical tools strapped to it from his Black ending. This, even darker TM has allusions to both the colorful & black universes. Like having Black's Warthhog.

There are actually more than that:
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
From Left to Right:
-The Paper Bag from Sweet Tooth in TM1 (Live Version)
-Raven's Voodoo Dolls from Shadow in TMB
-The Black Box that Warthog and Crimson Fury wanted in TM1 (Live Version)
-John Doe's FBI ID from Roadkill in TMB
-Dollface's Key from Darkside TMB
-The Drink that gave YellowJacket his youth in TM1 (Live Version)
-Sweet Tooth's Machete (TM2012)
-Dollface's Mask (TM2012)
-The Cases to the actual Twisted Metal Games
You can see it here. And there are some that I didn't really understand, but they undoubtedly reference past games as well.

B-but I liked Cage from TMB
As for the missing drivers its a shame but I'm still psyched they brought Dollface along for the ride.

He said the movie won't have a storyline. Then something about him hating storylines. I think it's basically gonna be just like the game. Your probably gonna have a handful of Characters that rise up through vehicular battle exhibitions and finally the important characters meet up for the main battle. Your probably gonna see clips of their past and what their motivation is. Calypso will throw some twists in like throwing Minion out their in his armored Dark Side truck and fuck some contestants up. Death Race is gonna look like tiddly winks after this movie comes out.

He probably means that the story in the movie isn't a sequel to the game.

Uhhhh... is that a weird way of saying the movie won't have much to do with the game(s)?

I love the detail they put into the levels. They're friggin HUGE! So expansive...
Nods to previous levels:

Nods to previous levels:
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Sunsprings, is expansive like Assault on Cyburbia. There's a school with schoolbusses, the church, gasstation, n freeway. The football stadium looks great, and that university looking place you can drive through the halls!! The movie theater you can go in, much better than TM:Lost. It was hillarious watching 3 Juggernauts shooting up the lobby.
Metro Square is awesome. It may be NY, not LA, but it's just like River Park Rumble!! Much more expansive than Black's Downtown. Better building interaction too. The El Train harkens back to Hong Kong in TM2, but with an underground station & tunnels. The skating rink is way bigger than River Park Rumble.
Diesel City rocks. Allusions to the Junkyard & Highway from Black. Huge city in itself, like Sunsprings. Diablo Pass is reminiscent of the snow path in Black, and Spyhunter.
LA Skyline, WOW. Lots of glass to break!! ^o^
Has so many bit's of TM1/2 Rooftops. A couple ramp areas that look just like TM1 rooftops. The crane. The glass pyramid from TM1 leads to a pool like TM2, but no locker rooms. The glass dome leads to an arboritum with ponds. The trees remind me of the hotel atrium in the TM1 glass pyramid.
There are multiple stories inside levels, like TM2's rooftops. Much more detail, very nice disco floor in the club. Radio station KU7X = Kut X. Expansive.

I loved it. What can I say, I'm a TW fanboy and I love the fact Jaffe is as passionate as his die hard fans. I am dissapointed in the story, lack of drivers, but still the different game modes were awesome and I look forward to the next installment. See you all online.

Good luck getting online. I know I sure as hell can't. They should have put a beta out first.
