well, the only confirmed characters are Dollface and Sweet Tooth, considering the attire of Sweet Tooth I'm going to have to assume that this is set in the Black Universe, which means...It's probably going to have a lot of serial killers, which makes sense considering this is more focused on Team based gameplay.

I hope they keep Sweet Tooth from TM:B perfectly insane look and all. I love it!..lol also I hope to see Thumper return with a sweet ride.

theres a good chance almost all characters from TM1, 2 & Black will be there, along with new characters like

Vermin (the yellow van)
Death Warrent(car with the racing stripes)
Talon(the helicopter)
Meat Wagon(the ambulance)
Roadboat(never actually saw that one in the vid)

these aren't the final names for these guys but they are confirmed vehicles/characters

the faction thing (clowns, dolls, skulls, preachers) is just an online multiplayer aspect if im not mistaken. one of our boys at Twisted Metal Alliance was at E3 and interviewed David Jaffe.

I agree, and apparently, a version of his vehicle is in the Team mode called the "Reaper," It's primary special is a Flaming chainsaw which can be thrown directly ahead.

I dont know how I feel about a helicopter being in the game. Twisted metal is all about vehicles.

I love twisted metal. I don't know much about like all of the games, but i used to play it alot and this sounds pretty cool. Just hope it comes out on 360.

hate to be the bearer of bad news but sony owns Twisted Metal, they mean it when they say "only on PS3". EDIT: i said in my earlier post. when i say theres a good chance all characters from TM 1, 2 & Black will be in the game, its not cuz i read it somewhere. i say that cuz there is a decent fan following for almost every character therein and David Jaffe has paid attention to us at Twisted Metal Alliance, its one of the reasons ramming has made a comeback, but ultimately its just a gut feeling i have. all the other info from the post is solid confirmed information. just wanted to be clear ya'll...............peaceout.

Yeah. It is a bit odd. I think they're trying something pretty different. It seems different characters have the option to drive any vehicle in the game.

I'm pretty damn excited about this new Twisted Metal game, not nearly as excited as I am about the new MK though. I guess Twisted Metal has always been my number 2 game. And I really do hope they stick with the whole serial killer thing, Black was my favorite game in the series and I can't wait to see what they do with the story. 2011 cannot get here soon enough.

I'm hoping this is not what they're aiming to do with the characters. I'm not to thrilled either having Kane riding a motorcycle when instead he should be behind a wheel of an ice cream truck.

I really doubt they are going to make him drive a motorcycle all the time. I'm sure this is just some part of the online portion of the game. They pretty much have to give him the ice cream truck.

It's just for the MP mode. Story mode will be different I'm betting.

I have never played a Twisted Metal game in my life. If it's good, I'll check it out.

Besides Sweetooth I'm hoping to see Grimm, Shadow, Minion, Darkside; Darktooth. TM2/TMB nostalgia ftw.

in offline modes and certain MP modes the characters will be in their proper vehicles i.e sweettooth in the icecream truck, mr grimm on the motorcycle. the modes ya'll were watching were nuke and team death match, those are faction oriented i.e. clowns, dolls, skulls, preachers. there there will prolly be a TDM mode that is not faction based and last man standing is not faction based either from what i understand. ive read every David Jaffe interview ive been able to find, and this is the impression i am left with other than pure awesome.

Update:

Jaffe has stated that about 8 classic characters will return to the new game with 6-8 new characters coming, he has mentioned DLC so more classic characters are possible.

Jaffe has also stated that(word for word) online multiplayer is faction based and offline single player and split screen is character based.

The the me for the new game is a balance between the TM2 and TM:Black; not so dark and depressing as black but not so comic book like TM2.

also, the new TM is going for a "T" rating.

there will be be 2-4 player split screen and several offline modes to play, not just Co-op and death match.

there will be single player and co-op story mode.
