There's a recent article about Twisted Metal in GamePro in stores now.
I skimmed through it on my way to get a PS+ card but I wasn't paying attention to the details so I don't know if there is any new info.
Dollface is on the cover though.

As excited as I am about a new Twisted Metal, I've fallen completely out of touch. Have there been any updates about additional characters?

All i really know is that mr grimm will be in and saw a faction using axel's vehicle so hes in. Plus single player only features three characters but you can choose a variety of others cars. Also i think the preacher and yellowjacket will be in.

Supposedly it has been "confirmed" that the game comes out this fall.
Can't WAIT! I hope it got pushed back so they could add more content. I want this game to LAST for weeks.
Am definitely gonna pre-order this closer to release.

You can't push back a game that doesn't have a release date
also... PDF of Nov. 2010 POM article of Twisted Metal
NOTE: This article was found on the actual website of themagazine in question... so... it shouldn't violate any rules... right?

This game actually did apparently have a release date on the gamestop site a while back. I believe it was sometime in March actually. Well anyway it got pushed back to the fall I believe but I wish we could get some more info on the game. I do dislike how apparently you can pick a character and use a different vehicle. It kind of defeats the purpose of characters.

Yea i guess they wanted only certain characters to be relevent in the story but if its any constellation each diffilculty will have different outcomes

GameStop has no control over the release date, David Jaffe/anyone from ESP has yet to release an official date, so again, you can't push back a game that has no release date...

David Jaffe has released some (small) tidbits from his vlog recently. He and the team at ESP are nailing down final design decisions, the game is still due in 2011(no specific date given), he also says to expect more news to be revealed soon(PAX?).
He then says the reasoning for the team's last minute decision to pull out of GDC was to give the game more of a chance to shine, instead of cramming it between a bunch of industry announcements/the IPad2 announcement.

Do you not get that unlesd they have been given some form of a date it would day "fall 2011" , "spring 2011" or no date at all. They must have heard something in order to post that on the site.

well obviously they heard wrong, because the release date hasn't been... released.

Copy and Paste for I suck at the internet...
Anyway, IGN has a new interview with David Jaffe. He talks a little bit about Twisted Metal, but goes more into the state of the gaming industry(always interesting to hear is insights though).

This game is going to be BADASS. Im as much of a Twisted Metal fan as I am a MK fan. (Which is big)
From what I heard you get to play as 4 factions.
The dolls (Dollfaces group.)
The clowns (Sweet tooths group)
The grimms (Mr grimms group)
The preachers (Brimstones group.)
Unfortunatley you won't be able to play as the preachers on the campaign.

This game is going to be seriously lacking if you can only pick from 4 Factions as opposed to 12+ Characters. You better be wrong about this.

No. He's right. Each faction has access to a bunch vehicles in the TM universe. E.g you will see Sweet tooth in the Axel machine.
Yeah. I think this a TERRIBLE idea as well. It takes some of the personality that made the old games awesome.

Some? That totally removes the personality from all the characters! I don't want to see a clown in Axel's machine because the whole point of that machine is that his dad trapped him in there! His TM2 ending where he ripped his arms out was so badass because of that. It makes as much sense as seeing A family of Grimm's in the Jones' Vehicle from TM4

Yes, there are four factions, The Clowns, Dolls, Skulls, and Holy Men, each represented by Sweet Tooth, Doll Face, Mr. Grimm, and Preacher.
Yes, the Holy Men aren't playable in single player, but the cars aren't character dependent.
This game is made with multiplayer in mind, and while it will have a worthwile SP experience, they are still trying to focus on MP.
...I just threw up.
