It could be a marketing strategy to have the final character be a letdown within the fanbase. That's how NRS did it also with MK9 and Injustice.

You can call this mindset oldfashioned or whatever, but I think its cheap to sell what essentially is the same game with minor tweaks, over and over. The days, when it was impossible to patch games are long gone. Release DLC with tweaks for minor price and call it a day. No need to rename the game, no need to create another disk version.

I think the problem with Injustice was that the DLC ended... People still want more characters. Also I seem to remember everyone bitching about Zod and Batgirl a lot more than Zatanna.

I think that maybe if they said "This 5th character its going to be one of Bison's dolls that you haven't played before" it would have been fine.

With Injustice I was mostly referring to the final character in the season pass, Scorpion. As for the logic: it is very common in various websites that do a lot of lists (like Cracked.com) to have the final piece be a letdown. Why? It leaves the customer dissatisfied, making them want more of their products. In the games' situation, the dissatisfaction results in fan rage, giving the product easy attention and if the fans are raging only about one of the five characters; it means that the package is still a pretty good deal because four of the new characters are good. The bottomline is that Ultra Street Fighter IV, which is still fine, gains a lot of (easy) attention this way.

Ah, then I totally understand. I knew Scorpion would find his way into Injustice, but seeing as he is my least favourite MK character, I couldn't care less about his inclusion.

Well...true, Japanese game...but it's kind of a gray area, being released in both markets almost simultaneously (Well...a couple months apart, but much sooner than the olden days when localization took much longer because it was done by separate teams in the states), and obviously the devs know when they're creating a character who's not Japanese, translating from one tongue to their own to a third...sometimes they do the English version first and then localize to Japanese from there because it fits the character. Like...for example, obviously Guile's name is meant to be the English word, and "ガイル" and "Gairu" is just the closest approximation to that a Japanese person would spell it in their alphabet and pronounce it in their accent. Same with M. Bison when they use it for the boxer and not the dictator, since it's a parody of Mike Tyson.

You mean British English? "Capre" is Italian for "goats" and some Italian surnames have that De- beginning, making it Italian more than French. It shares etymology with DiCaprio. Even then, "Decapre" means a month.

Granted that "Easternized" is a weird word to use since Russia itself is in the Eastern hemisphere, but he obviously meant "The Far East", the Orient, Japan where the game is being made and one of the major audiences it's being released to.

The name's being released for two audiences, neither of whom speak Russian, so it's been turned from Russian to Japanese for the Japanese audience, and from Russian to English for the English-speaking audience.

What I was saying is, that given the way Japanese game development works, it was probably turned from Russian to English, THEN from English to Japanese.

And if modern British English is still spelling "sabre" instead of "saber", "spectre" instead of "specter", etc. fair enough, but I said "Olde English" because those spellings seem somewhat antiquated and medieval to me, but maybe that's just an opinion, and an odd one since I have actually been known to spell them that way myself more often than the American way, because I just prefer the way it looks...

"Decapre" is basically a more feminine writing style for "Dekabr", a 'rougher' spelling.Well it's not a wrong way of saying it. It's just that British English has a lot of those (like "centre" as opposed to "center") and I wanted to indicate it. My English teacher emphasized that British English is the real English, and in fact that's what is being taught at least in all the Nordic countries.

The more I see of Decapre, the more I like her. The move where she scrambles has such great mix-up potential. I might just try her out when I get the game. Still going to try and main Blanka, Rose, Guy, and Vega first.
