Thats just like saying i'm a good person and I don't kill people which means I'll never be murdered. DC isn't stupid, they know what MK is. All they want is for the characters who don't kill to simply not kill. That has nothing to do with Scorp knocking Batman's head off.

Hm, something tells me Boon made a pit stop at MKO after the announcement. I'd bet we were one of the top sites exploding with reactions around the news. He seems to have dismissed the instant complaints for the most part; while I understand and agree with him doing this, I still hope this isn't true for ALL complaints made, and a few were actually very valid. I.E., I still believe everything I said in my reaction thread and have no doubt that all the negativities I mentioned were followed by a strong basis. I'd like to believe he took those types of responses into consideration as well.

I'm happy with him saying "fatalities are in" straight-up, but I'm still not jumping for joy just yet. What we have to remember is that he wants a T-rating more than outrageous fatalities. I still don't expect decapitations, ripping off of limbs, stabbing, or anything like that, as I'm pretty sure the ESBR wouldn't think twice about M-rating it. Until further notice, I'm expecting the same "finishers" he mentioned at first, only some of them are fatal.

And I truly hope that the four characters playable at E3 aren't Sub, Scorp, Batman, and Superman. At least have two of the four be new! Let's see some females, already, MKDC is turning into a sausage fest!

My theory is that when he made that original statement he was still in the process of working things out with the ESRB so he was playing it safe. I guess the ESRB gave him the OK to move forward.

That's a fair point! I guess the logical assumption is just the improbability of anyone lopping Superman's head off, but as seems to be a running theme, the disconnect between in-game mechanics and character-facts seems to be a hurdle for a lot of fans.

The slightly less pertinent theory would be DC's reluctance to have the Flash and Wonder Woman decapitated, I suppose, too. Not that we really know what the lethal finishers will entail, visa vie the T rating

The feeling I got from those video interviews, that I can't seem to quote accurately, was that it wasn't much of a concern.

Yeah, the fatalities probably aren't that gory if it still a teen. If thats the case, I guess its no big deal. But I think this game might end up being M anyway. But who knows?

It'd be awesome. However do you remember that one pic {which MKO made us get rid of the link or I'd show you} of Batman doing the same move? It's possible that it's a shared move or something.

I don't see the big deal here concerning "this guy will kill, this guy won't" I mean, god every time boon gives us more, interesting news some people go out of their way to "bash" the idea.....then again this is coming from the same people that assumed "MK8 had no fatalities" so I shouldn't be surprised I suppose.......even though what he did do was as TTT said I believe, playing it safe since it was A.the first teaser B. not sure what the deal was with the ESRB system and C. as I've said now a million times, the game is FAR from being finished....

Scorpion's looks more of a slide and Batman's was more of a defense move from being knocked on the ground.

This is FANTASTIC news! I think the haters can finally be put to rest now. This WILL be an MK game, just with DC characters!

So there will be fatalities for all MK characters and DC Villains, but the DC heroes will perform Brutalities? That's perfect!! Absolute perfect and logical. Boon & co. should have been more clear about this from the beginning (unless they just recently changed it due to pressure) as I think this would have killed a lot of the early hate!

So to those who think fatalities may not be done to those who don't do them. Say Sub-Zero to Batman, where the fuck is the logic to that? That's like, oh yea you wouldn't kill me so I'm not gonna kill you. That is lame. For thinking that is a bit lame too to be honest. It's not like those who don't use fatalities have aids so the killers won't use fatals on them right? You guys are bashin PA as if the latter statement is true. No hate but that's wack.

I kinda think the four at E3 will be the first four. It didn't say anything about new so we can't assume they'll all be new, but at the same time they could be. Just doubtful because that's a lot to show off right away in addition to the three confirmed from each side of ten plus potentially more from the PSM3 mag, and since most have seen the first four, the general pub, they probably want to use them.

Like some of you have said before, I disitinctly remember Boon saying there would be no fatalities. He said there would be FINISHERS, but

NO FATALITIES.

HE FUCKING SAID THAT.

Not that I'm complaining. This is great news. I think after this interview, we all feel a litte bit better about the game. He cleared up a lot and I seriously think that all of us on the boards have had an influence with the progression of the game.

I believe that some members of the MK team visit here just to see what we want and have to say. Which is a good thing, and I really love the fact that they do respect our opinions and wishes.

On to the screenshots - WOW, they look really good. Superman actually looks amazing in them. Scorpion looks insane. I love his look. These are ingame apparently - and they look great. I am even more hyped now than before.

Only thing is that I wish Sonya would be in these shots - I want to see her in better quality. Oh well, the time will come.

What's the big deal of who tells them the news first? So your name gets mentioned on the bottom... great. You don't get a prize, and you don't get a praise for more than 5 minutes... so why make a big deal of who gets the info out to the mods first... as long as someone did so and it's on the front page.

Anywho, this is some great news. Rather, somewhat, contradicting but it's one of those rare good contradictions. I'm happy to even hear the word Fatality from Boon again, though I wasn't devastated (when they said no fatalities) like some people were. This is a good start; NOW, we need the next interview where Boon says the game is now Rated M.


Also, may I add; Now that we've actually seen some clear high-quality non-leaked in-game images... I can agree with most that the graphics are starting to look real great. There is no way this game could run on a PS2 or XBox. The backgrounds look MUCH better, the torn clothes are great, and I'm finally starting to see some real facial expressions. I'm becoming more confident this game will be successful. Bravo Ed! The more we hear/see about this game the better it gets.

I know right? He says no fatalities and then goes "Yes there will be" so..yeah whatever I think that he can't make up his mind so he just spits stuff out when it seems to be going one way and then spits more out when it goes another.

And yes, the characters look phenominally better with high quality in game shots. I'm actually loving Scorp's new look now!

Is it just me, or did Ed sound a bit annoyed and slightly angry about the fans and their "assumptions"? I felt a "vibe" in that interview, as if he were a bit upset and holding his tongue. If he was, well, most fans disserve it for the unfair complains, but he did say there would be no Fatalities....That needs to be clarified.

As for the 4 characters that will be in E3, I'll just copy/paste this:

Only 4 playable? It feels like too little imo. I mean, for MKDA and MKD there were a lot more options, werent there?

I hope its at least the 6 main confirmed...but, if he REALLY is serious about only 4, then they will obviously be:

Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Superman
Batman

......personally, Im getting tired of seeing those characters overused. Reminds me of when the other recent MK games were promoted and only Scorpion was being used again, and again, and again getting really annoying, same with Sub-Zero...overusing these two ninjas can get quite boring after a while, you know?

New characters are likely to be confirmed, but not to be playable. I hope we get Sonya and Flash, Batman and Sub-Zero playable, but we know Superman and Scorpion are the top choices. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait for the chance to see other characters after E3....shame.

I remember him saying there will be no fatalities, I also remember him calling those finishers, and he did say that was a good decision because it would be "weird" to decapitate Superman or take Batmans spine out....he did say that wouldnt happen.

And for the confused people, Im more then sure fatalities WONT work on the DC Superheros, maybe MK and DC villian characters will get a "Brutality" move as well, just for the Superheros. I doubt we will see rel fatalities done to Batman and the rest of the heros, Ed said that ages ago as well, he said DC wouldnt allow that.......hopefully it has changed for the best!
