I'm wondering what that stance actually is. A counter? A parry? A throw?

I don't know about you guys, but I think it's a counter. The way Scorpion's palm is kinda looks like he's about to strike Flash's ribcage.

Real minor, but the one picture of Scorpion grabbing Flash’s arm is the same stance as the “Embargo ends tomorrow” picture.

Nice

How'd you notice that? Looks like the color of Flashs' costume changed over time..That, or it was just too small and too blurred to distinguish the color back then. Good perception anyway.

Cuz the way Scorpion is standing looks the same, and the background color is similar.

Or was blacked out for the teaser. Or is a different character in the same animation.

Seriously, whoever thought the Flash needed gold bands around his arms should probably be fired. Was it you, Beran?...

I keep looking at Scorpion and Flash and the only thing that comes to mind is "Turn your head and cough."

@queve: I can certainly understand Boon & Co. being frustrated by disparaging remarks when the game's not even close to being released, but they had to see it coming. This is arguably the biggest shift in direction that the MK team has ever made; it was bound to ruffle some feathers. I don't think that he really conveys any resentment for upset fans in his answer, though (and I'd be quite disappointed in him if he did). I actually found his answer very level-headed and refreshing; it sounds like he's very understanding of fans who had different expectations of the direction of the new game:

In an odd sort of way, I was actually impressed to see how much passion the MK fans still have for the series. If they didn't care, you wouldn't have seen anywhere near the volume of discussion that came from the announcement.

See? Boon gets it, even if some of the fans of his work don't. Speaking for myself, if I didn't care about the MK series, I wouldn't bother criticizing the MK team when I feel that they're taking a bad step. Hell, same with music. I'm much more critical of bands that I like than bands that I dislike. Why bother wasting mental energy on shit that sucks? I've said it before but it goes back to holding the stuff you like to a higher standard.

All that said, gamespot's crapping out on me so I can only see the excerpts on MKO at the moment. Grrrrr. Hopefully that'll fix itself soon.

Agreed.

And yeah, I see your points regarding him not holding any resentment towards the fans (we love you Eddy! grin), and I agree. I wouldn’t go as far as to suggest that...but I still think there was a “vibe” in that interview, I do feel he was rather upset and with good reason though, but in a way, its kind of unfair considering the things they made us believe to begin with. I wasn’t one of the fans who jumped and killed mk when the news spilled (vs game, no fatalities, etc.) and got all hysterical, I always kept an open mind about the game despite preferring a *real* mk at that time, but the angered fans had good reasons to assume things as well.

Can't way to kill some heroes! This is really good news and I hate it when people assume things and that just proved many people wrong. I have high hopes for this game!

Gee can't wait to see those fatalities.

Everytime I try to think of Superman's finisher I wind up thinking about characters getting trapped in 2D diamonds, before they disappear into the Phantom Zone. tongue

Nice interview.

I must admit that the game looks more appealing then before after seeing the new screenshots (including the ones in the 360 mag). How come the renders look so cheap (except Scorpion's IMO)?

After seeing the shots, I'm REALLY curious how the fighting mechanic is going to work, since this really turned me off in the latest MK's.

@queve: I know what you mean about the vibe. I probably should've waited until I could actually log on to the gamespot page and read the whole interview before commenting on it. I still think he's more or less saying "I hear you" to fans who might still have some misgivings, but he definitely stressed the fact that he'd prefer us to wait for more information before drawing any conclusions. I was guilty of that (as were probably a lot of people at first); I almost projectile vomited when I read that the new MK was going to be MK vs. DC. And when Boon wasn't giving a firm answer on fatalities (prior to this interview)... well, I wasn't sure what to think. But (most of) the in-game graphics are looking fantastic, fatalities are in, so I'm relatively happy with how things are going.

@skillz: Same here. Truthfully I more or less loved everything about the last 3 MK games except for the wretched fighting system. And unfortunately, for a fighting game that's a pretty damning flaw. I just don't understand how they could hit the ball out of the park on the levels, graphics, character design, etc. and (seemingly) forget about the gameplay. I can't wait to see some video clips so that we can hopefully get a feel for what the fighting in MKvDC is like.

Indeed, it is pretty silly of them to not work the fighting mechanic out til it's properly done.
Fortunate that the games had some elements that made it worth playing for you grin Because I didn't felt the character designs, story and overall athmosphere, I didn't found a reason to buy the last MK's (I got MKD as a present and didn't buy MKA). It's a matter of taste perhaps, but if the fighting mechanic would've been great, I would've probaly bought the games.

I was thinking the same thing... it looks stupid. Besides, I though the MK guys weren't supposed to be messing with the DC characters designs?

Thats it! My excitement is at an all time high for this.

The graphics are fuckin' ILL!!!!!

I was cool with no fatalities, but NOW, I am just enormously excited. This no doubt will be the best MK game ever.

FUCK!!!

Also, notice BATMAN'S ripped clothing!? It looks great! This is going to be brutal. Oh so sexy.

...ok a T rated game with fatalities. Ed Boon and Midway always claim a lot when they are making the games and then when it comes out it turns out to be half-assed.

Fatalities in this game are probably going to be bitch movies like breaking their neck, arm FATALITY

please...

and I love how Ed Boon embraced ppl's hatred for him and the game, he probably knows at heart how retarded his "MK8" is.

He probably laughs at retarded posts like this more then anything, you don't know crap yet because the game isn't OUT! Haters=lame.... ^sleep
